Our 1st cruise was on the Ruby Princess, the Emerald's sister ship. They are so very nice. The regular balcony cabins on the Caribe deck have nice large balconies, more room than I've ever seen on our several Carnival cruises. Thinking a Panamal Canal cruise would be fun on the Emerald!

Great video!! I’m sailing on a 12 day cruise to Panama in Oct/Nov on the Emerald and I’m actually staying in room E416!!!! Imagine my surprise when I watched your video!! Quite the coincidence so I’ll take this as a good sign. I actually wanted a balcony but the prices were just too high so we settled for a nice unobstructed ocean view room, as you already know very well. Princess just opened up their bidding system and I was able to bid on a balcony room and a premium balcony room. I decided to bid on both because I figured the premium was bigger but I later found out that it’s not. They’re pretty much the same size only difference is the location of the cabin and the view. Also the premium was way more expensive than the standard. Between two of us we would be bidding $700 more for the same exact room just in a different part of the ship. So I decided to withdraw the premium bid and stick to the standard. You seem like a cruise expert so I would really like to know your thoughts on this. What would you do? Are the movies and tv series available in other languages than english?

Allowing pets in COACH and not allowing them in a sleeper car make no sense! There could be people in coach with pet allergies and even a fear of dogs and/or cats. In a sleeper, it's just the customer and the pet. Duh But I'm guessing it's because they (Amtrak) believes a customer would let their pet be outside of its carrier since they would be in the complete privacy of a sleeper car. In coach, they're visible to all and they'd have to abide by the "in carrier only" rule. Which brings us back to simply having a pet-friendly car.

We booked room P242 on Emerald Princess. Any information you can provide about this room? Supposedly an unobstructed Ocean View.

Before my first transit of the Panama Canal (next is 2026) I read the book 'The Path Between The Seas' by David McCullough which goes into the full history 1870-1914. Gave a good grounding on what actually happened which made my experience of the transit super special if not very emotional thinking about all that had occurred.

Is it difficult to get in and out of the blue hole?

We have done a dozen or so Windstar trips on 4 of their 6 ships. The even smaller Wind Star and Wind Spirit are, in my opinion, even better than Wind Surf. (No elevators on those if you have mobility issues.) I can understand your red lights but we are so used to these things, I don't even consider them as negatives. Windstar crew members are always excellent and some will even remember you from prior voyages. It seems the crew tends to stick with them too. We often see repeat guests from prior years too. No more big ships for us. The sound of waves lapping against the sides and the gentle motion of the ship at night more than make up for no balcony.

Good video. But not sure what the excitement of having a bath tub is! Have you never had or used a bathtub at home...also do you soak yourself in a bathtub every day or simply use it as a shower! Guess each to their own but I could not relate to the excitement of having a bathtub no matter how cold the weather is.

You don't mention THE most important thing in bathrooms (on 3:30 min).... the DEHUMIDIFIER.... 5" on ceiling (this time, one between both lights and another one besides the towel rack. IF/WHEN washing something (or incl. the bathing suit) the closer you put the wet piece to these, the faster garments will dry! BTW... it's "CartageNa" with a "soft N" as in Nancy. (no squiggly line over the "N"... I'm hispanic, I'm 100% on this)

Yes there tours of the caves, Crystal Caves in Hamilton Parish. I believe that you need to make reservations to go down. They are simply gorgeous and worth visiting!

We were on the Windsurf Jan 2023 for 18 days and it was one of the best cruises we have ever taken. We are on now, Oct 22 2023 to November 10, 2023. Venice to Rome We are having a fabulous time. We love the Windsurf great food,fabulous crew. Wonderful experience We booked 3 more trips on their early booking special. Highly recommended

Small balconies and cabin smaller than Azura and Ventura, no bath, a bit disappointing. Have booked this for around Britain Cruise, because of the itinerary and dates. Have to ask for a kettle!!. Cabin looks a bit drab. Apart from that fantastic.

How much more is the AFT mini suite?

The only thing we didn't like about the deluxe balconies was when the couch was folded out into a bed, the fridge was blocked and you had to climb over the bed to get onto the balcony. Definitely a design flaw.

We are looking for a martini bar with passenger action. Lively.
