Yes, it can feel overwhelming at first, but don’t get discouraged. You don’t need to be a professional teacher to homeschool your kids. I (Stacey) am a teacher, but a lot of my training went into teaching multiple learning styles, lesson plans, and classroom management. Things that are much easier when the students are your own kids. Plus, I am still learning TONS while homeschooling my kids because we are learning together. Anyone that wants to, can teach their child at home. We are so fortunate to be living in a time where there is so much information and support for homeschoolers on their journey. I hope that helps!

Preschool is not required (at least in CA). Some school districts have preschool programs, but many home daycares may offer preschool. There are also lots of private preschool programs. Although, TK (transitional kindergarten) is being offered by many charter schools for kids.

You can totally create your own! The main thing is to make sure you are following the requirements set by your state (HSLDA.org is a good resource). Some have specific standards you need to cover or testing your kids need to take, but you should be able to meet those requirements how you see fit.

Reading Story of the World aloud to anyone is highly encouraged!

It all depends on you and your children. You could use one subscription for three children, but they would have to share while putting the projects together and then share the toy. Some of the projects have duplicate toys (like the coin spinner comes with two, so you can battle a friend, and the catapult comes with three so you can make a chain reaction), but most only have one final project. With my three boys, I am glad we were able to get them each their own subscription. But, as long as your kids are willing to share the boxes you could make it work with just one subscription.

I mention several resources, which website are you asking about so I can better answer your question?

I tend to do narrations only with history readings 😬 I’m bad about requiring narrations after every reading, even though you’re probably supposed to. That being said, the literature readings are usually so captivating to my kids that they can’t stop talking about them anyway. So those are still narrations, just less formal!

I am using TGTB for all years going forward now. I hope to talk about that in a video again soon!

All our iPads are logged in with my account. I never tried child accounts, so I can’t say if they are better.

Unfortunately, we both live in Northern CA and don’t have direct experience with individual Southern CA schools and how good their IEP programs are. Hopefully others might be able to chime in, but we also recommend checking out local homeschool groups on Facebook. The parents in those groups would have better insight on specific schools in your area.

I would say it takes a bit to understand how all the pieces relate to each other, but once you understand the rhythm, it is really easy to implement. As you go, you will learn what parts work for you and what parts you might want to cut out. For example, I don’t usually do the “game” activities with my kids, we just read the practice sheets and call it good. I have heard from other families that their kids love the “game” activities, so they skip the practice sheets. There is a lot to the program, but you can weed out things that don’t work for your kiddo.

I am not sure if @CrunchLabs has their instruction booklets in other languages or not or if they even ship outside of the US. The videos you unlock with each box are housed on RUclips, so you could turn on captions and auto translate, but I don't know how well that feature works. I suggest you take a look at the Crunch Labs website and possibly even send your question to their support team.

I apologize for the late reply. I didn't know the answer to your question and wanted to look into it. I never even thought about printing it out, but I think it is a great idea! Yes, I did find a print feature so that you could print the daily/weekly/monthly schedule. Although, depending on how many activities/students you are trying to print off, it isn't the prettiest layout because sometimes content gets split between pages. But, you can adjust some of your print settings and adjust the look that way. I'll probably use the weekly print feature for my boys next year.

On top left under the big "Homeschool Planet" click "Calendar" view. Change it into "Planner" view. Then top right click print. It will look much nicer than the calendar view in print.

I think you could meet in the middle and be fine. You may also want to check out AO groups (www.amblesideonline.org/groups) that structures the curriculum slightly differently to cover more grade levels at the same time.
