Brings back memories from my trip

i ran into this and had to watch. an apartment complex i lived in (70s)was gone (Beach-La Mirada), and the driving range just south of LM and the 'drive-in' south of KBF. i also lived in BP, Fullerton, Anaheim, West Minster. the biggest problem on BB back then was there was NO left turn lanes so no protected left turns off BB. Turning left during rush was a dare. That was in the 70's.

People will from elsewhere will never understand that no place on Earth has better roads than So Cal. Boulevards are a thing of beauty. Bar non, best in the world. No spatial awareness That's why people want to live in SoCal. Civil Engineering is second to none. Skyscrapers are impressive, but real city planning is the grid system.

There should be a second freeway in between interstate 110 and 710 since the 710 freeway gets truck traffic near Long Beach. I would like for the 47 to get extended north of terminal island following the current route of alameda street eventually ending the industrial freeway at interstate 10 in Boyle heights. I thought the 47 was originally planned to continue north through Compton and Huntington park as the industrial freeway.

To me, Beach Blvd started at Bolsa Chica beach and ended at Knott's Berry Farm. We never had any reason to go past it. Pretty sure there were no buildings taller than 2 maybe 3 stories in Westminster/HB on Beach Blvd. There was still small patches of unbuilt on land then... Other than fast food joints and Beach Blvd Dodge, I think most of the rest is new or rebuilt since the Seventies. OVHS was brand new and unfinished the one year I went there. Crown school busses and fire trucks ruled the area. There was a horse barn at the corner of Heil and Beach Blvd where Serrano, a horse that performed at Knott's Berry Farm was retired to. It was gone by the time we moved out. There were still Japanese farms in Westminster/Garden Grove before they realized they could make a lot more money selling to developers. Most of the area was either brand new when we moved there, or undeveloped. We watched farmland disappear the 13 years we were there. My dad worked at Douglas>McDonnell Douglas now Boeing in Huntington Beach.

26:35 I grew up near here in the Seventies. The only thing that's the same is Beach Blvd Dodge. Well, Burger King, Jack in the Box and Mcdonald's all in the same place they were 50 years ago. Most of the stuff behind the Target was built in the Seventies, it was still farmland then. Belle Terra was called Huntington Center, and the Anchors were JCPenney in the middle, The Broadway on one side and Montgomery Wards on the other. There was no construction going on at the 405 then, either.

We are leaving the 7th to Hollywood from Medford,OR and have to do this drive, and then from Hollywood to knotts berry farm at a hotel in the area, I'm really nervous about driving after we land, I'm more worried about being in the wrong lane and need the far lane and can't get over and road rage people,
