The 2003 and 2004 models are not VVT-i and have 240hp. The 2005-2009 models are VVT-i with 270hp. Slightly better power band due to increased low rpm torque. However, the non-VVTi engines seem to have a slight maintanance labor/dependability advantage without the extra moving parts in the camshafts.

@@IhelpanytimeNo, the 2003-2004 V8 in the GX470 was non-VVTi with 240hp. The horsepower increase came in 2005 with the introduction of VVT-i.
