Reminder about BCSD Spring Concert - Deaferella at BCSD Elementary school on May 30th from 6-8pm 4446 Watling Street, Burnaby. It's at the gym. For admission, donation will be accepted and we will have snacks for sale along with raffle tickets. 1 ticket for $2 and 3 tickets for $5. Many great prizes!!!

The Provincial Outreach Program and British Columbia School for the Deaf co-produced a video acknowledging the traditional territories in British Columbia, Canada. We are grateful to the indigenous students of BCSD who participated in the filming of this video.

The video was produced to briefly describe and introduce the annual Orange Shirt Day in American Sign Language for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing children and youth and to be used in K-12 classroom lessons according to the Aboriginal Education curriculum in British Columbia.
Flying Hands Competition 2017

BCSD sent a group of 12 students for the second year to Washington School for the Deaf to participate in their annual "Flying Hands" ASL competition. It was quite an experience and this video sums it all up for you. Hope to see you next year!

Create an app that reads peoples sign language for them through a video camera that either writes it in text or speaks it in a voice of your choice, or so someone told me
That is an incredibly complex problem to solve. Think of the most complex video game using video technology--Wii games by Nintendo, Dance Dance Revolution, etc.--and multiply that by a thousand and you might get finger spelling right.
