True Zelda fans like all zelda games
At the end of the day, It's a good game, a brilliant one, but a woefully bad sequel to breath of the wild
Zelda cycle
People dont hate this game, I personally love it. If you look hard enough for something you will find it. I can research anything until I find some way in which something is bad. Doesn't actually mean it is. The game just appears to be disliked from a distance because of youtube titles like this. But there are probably a much larger audience who actually love the game. "This video is not made to slander TOTK" but bro the title is litterally pushing the narrative that people HATE the game. You cant have it both ways.
the rose tinted glasses have finally fallen off
Not at least having master mode was an absolute tragedy to me. I wasn't crazy about botw until the dlc dropped and i replayed it in master mode. I'm not a difficulty snob or anything but master mode forced me to engage with everything botw had to offer just so I could progress. Its just not as fun when every challenge can be steam rolled with minimal preparation.
Too many people got caught being buried in their assumptions that TotK was going to be whatever they imagined versus what Nintendo actually developed and the frustrating part is that 90% of criticism about the game sounds like the people complaining didn't actually play it. "Not a real sequel", evidence is everywhere. Everywhere. "They used the same map!" they used BotW's map as a basis. Countless things changed and they added more than they took away. Literally the only 'controversy' I can agree with is the price.
I think its a case of "just too much of the same thing". The original NES Zelda was great ..Zelda 2 sucked (in my opinion)...SNES had the best Zelda game ever in Link to the Past, and that was it for SNES. N64 had Ocarina, and it was amazing ..Majoras Mask was meh. You guys get what im saying. Each gen of console needs only ONE great Zelda game, and thats it
Really hope they go back to the old style but larger in scale
“In older games the story actually mattered” you suck at this & shuld quit reviewing. Tiny failing channel get a job.
Im not gonna lie, TotK felt really, REALLY easy compared to BotW.. Should have included a Master Mode
People are overdramatic babies. Literally every other game was complained about too story-driven. And NOW Everyone loves them. If every game is so hated that there is something called "the zelda cycle" or whatever, then they deserve trash for the way they're acting. Plus, You cannot say that gameplay is not better in botw or totk. (I do agree about calling it over price DLC though)
it's ironic how TotK started as DLC and then became it's own game as they had so many idea's cause that's the same thing that happened to Super Mario Galaxy 2 also i never hated a Zelda game (as i have only played some) the only one i really didn't like was Skyward Sword and it wasn't because of the "Zelda cycle", i just didn't like the game in general cause it was really flawed (the motion controls feeling dodgy, Fi, The Imprisoned, the backtracking, the rather aimless plot and the boss roster aside from Koloktos just feeling pretty weak) however i would like to add that i do wish the enemy roster in BotW and TotK was better, sure we have the return of the standard Zelda enemies that are staples: Bokoblins, Moblins, Lizalfos, Octorok's, Chuchu's, Keese and Wizzrobes, but it was lame to leave out other iconic Zelda enemies like Deku Baba's, Tektite's, Helmasaur's, Skulltulas, Stalfos, Bubble's, Beamos, Leevers, Armos, Guay's and Darknut's
People are literally incapable of forming an opinion without parroting something they heard someone else say.
I think totk is an extremely good game, I actually think there is actually way too much to do making it completely overwhelming. There certainly is no issue it’s not different enough from botw. My problem however is the re using the main map I do think this was a mistake and should have been a completely new location or re imagining of Hyrule. Though I do think I prefer botw a little more than totk even though totk is the more polished complete game.
People who hate tears of Kingdom will complain about a million dollars
There is not enough stuff to do in-game to justify the massive, empty world. - My review
This comment section is strange… I get it has a few flaws, but so does every game. Idk who tf “hates” tears of the kingdom. It and botw are some of the best games of all time.
Okay, so, im at 0:45 into the video, and im making a prediction. The problem people are going to have, will end up being about the lore itself, not the game, mechanics, gameplay, or anything that actually matters, but the lore and timeline. Lets see if im right. So I was partially right. I stopped watching at 9:00 though. As soon as narrator said "I am bored of open world Zelda" I zoned out. I might be more agreeable to this, if the next title after ToTK wasnt Echos of Wisdom. Which is a bigger step down than even a third installment with the BoTW overworld would have been. While its cute, and Zelda FINALLY has her own game, its just sad they chose to do it in the Links Awakening style. Also unpopular opinion, but I despised Majora's Mask. Groundhogs day but game version, I still to this day, have no idea why people actually liked this game.
My only real issue with totk is the farming makes the game meh I spent prob 200 of my 432 hours just farming then there was the seed hunting which took forever but at least that was somewhat fun
The only thing I know is that these last two open-world Zelda games are simple tests. This means they are testing the formulas. First, with BotW, they focused on an open world with a lot of mechanics (which is why other aspects, like the design of the "dungeons" and bosses, are simpler and not as involved in the mechanics). Second, with TotK, they focused on the functionality of the powers, the three sections of the map without a single loading screen, and almost zero bugs. That's why I think we Zelda fans feel a bit empty about this game. There's nothing as special as in the others-no great story, no memorable bosses, no iconic temples, etc. Yet, I still love both games.
Just because people are tired of an open world Zelda game doesn't make it bad. Lets be honest though all of the Zelda games have been pretty open world, just not as large as BOTW & TOTK. Nintendo has only made 2 large open world Zelda games and people want something different now, and that's fine, but that doesn't justify the criticism these games are just now receiving. Lets see what the next big Zelda title is and if Nintendo is listening to the community.
any of the previous zelda games would've sold more in today's day and age with all the social media hype. i dont blame them for chasing where the money is, but I don't think the volume of sales should have any weight on whether they should go back to linearity. sales will be there no matter what. everyone wants to ride the hype train
When did you notice fans starting to clamor about the shortcomings of both games? I've been hearing criticisms such as the Divine Beasts being underwhelming dungeons, TotK also being underwhelming on all front, including the story, and the desire for another linear Zelda have been getting bounced around since day 1 of both games. That said, a lot of people do seem to think TotK does improve on the base of BotW, and BotW certainly had its strengths, including the open world design. However, at this point, nobody I've seen have reperesented either to be the perfect Zelda game and have laid out their own wish lists for a new 3D Zelda, including various ways of mixing the open world with traditional, or at least better dungeons that are harder to cheese, as well as a better story to drive the whole adventure. The criticisms of the games are nothing new, but they do not mean they are not acknowledged as good games, even by those who have been criticizing them.
My dude really called the legend of zelda, one of the most popular and mainstream games of all time "cult classics" 😅
I for one love this game
It's simple, Really, When someone people are hyped about drops, You just can't hate it since the hype is too big, Critics need to wait otherwise they'll be ridiculed, Like what happened with the Mario Movie, A Basic 50 minutes adventure with no sauce that everybody loved until nobody cared about it anymore, While the critics could see under the hype, People couldn't
As someone who had zero knowledge or interest in Zelda until I was given Breath of the Wild, I love both of those games. I genuinely tried to play Oot (3ds remaster) since before breath of the wild that was the only other game that kept getting recommended to me. I could not get into Oot to save my life, it got to a point where I was literally following videos on RUclips and where to go or what to do because that game doesn't seem to tell you what to do next even after talkibg to every NPC I had access too. Breath of the Wild was the game to make me experience the genere like I never had before. So to me personally, I'll always appreciate it being my starting point for the franchise
Sssshhhh: Insider edition! The Legend of Zelda III: Shards of Eternity: ZELDA (NOT LINK!) journeys through past, present, & future to stop an ancient evil older than Hyrule itself! Light is key! Gameplay features time & memory puzzles, evolving landscapes, relics, and interactions with younger/older familiar characters! New twilight-powered abilities, multiple dungeons (ancient ruins, pre-Hyrule kingdom!), different realms & underwater exploration await! You're welcome!
nope. TOTK took over MM as my fav Zelda game! the best so far! looking forward to the next iteration
I was one of the first ones who hated it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The problem with the game is that you will soon realize you saw most of what the game has to offer in the first 4 hours
I doubt you could of seen much of what the game has to offer in 4 hours.
worst zelda game
Is Totk as strong as Botw? No, I do not think so by a decent margin. But I also don't think that means Totk is weak at all. It's a great game with amazing mechanics, better than most other games... just not Botw.
I think it’s because the hype has worn off for totk I don’t get the hate with breath of the wild tho
Hate is too strong a word. I think some people take issue with the weak aspects that they noticed within the game. Sometimes people who have negative feelings about certain aspects will be the loudest voices and attract more attention with their complaints. TOTK is a solid game but definitely has issues. The flashback story telling and the voice acting was horrendous, I have to say. Link as a silent protagonist seems forced at this point.
For me it was the fact that the story and world building felt like a last minute afterthought rather than carefully planned. Plus all the nuances characters in the first game being flanderized down to there basic traits, ex: Zelda botw was a scholar but felt like she wasn’t good enough when unlocking her powers. Zelda totk in love with link and the plot’s emotional punching bag
That's why I'm glad I never got all that far in breath of the wild when tears of the Kingdom came out it still feels like a pretty new game but if I had spent hundreds of hours in breath of the wild I'm sure I probably would get bored of Tears of the Kingdom really fast
It's not open world fatigue. It's the fact that TOTK's open world was a lazy re-skin and fanboys won't admit it. A new setting would fix everything.
Know BOTW made me a fan... had never played a Zelda game really until this one and it's arguably the best game I've ever played... TOTK is not better in my opinion but a very good game
For me, the sage's ability system absolutely killed a big part of the fun of the game. It may sound like an exaggeration but let me elaborate: 1. The way you activate the skills is obnoxious (except for the wind one). You need to break stones? You are most likely in a cave and the summon is too big to even fit there. You need to use an electric AoE arrow? Ok, get close to the enemy, where the summon is 99% of the time to trigger the special effect of a ranged attack. You need a water shield? No, you don't, useless skill. You need to walk in a robot that does literally nothing? For real... it just walks over poison? The damage is ridiculously low and it's painfully slow. The only decent skill is the wind one... until you are jumping while taking loot and the guy makes the items fall off a cliff. 2. In a darker game, where you explore the depths, where you are the chosen hero, post apocalyptic environment... you are supposed to travel alone. Nope you have an army of 5-6 guys (I don't really remember how many) running around aimlessly. You want to take a pic, they stay in front of you. You want to admire the place, they walk around like a headless chicken. They break every bit of immersion. 3. You can switch them on and off BUT you need to pause the game and go to a specific part of the inventory to do so. Taking into account I would like to turn on and off these guys constantly, so I only have them around when I need them, this takes me out of the action. 4. This might be a hot take but I'm putting it here because I can't be the only one who thinks this. The design of the spirits is just UGLY. Like... look at the game when you have all the spirits around. Doesn't it feel weird, out of place or straight up ridiculous? Some of them are TOO big, they body block themselves and they don't even fit in most caves. It looks specially weird when they just walk around non stop for no reason (for real... they can't stay in a spot for more than 2 seconds). 5. Why... why do it like this when it worked PERFECTLY fine in BOTW. That's all my rant about the skill system. Cheers.
I think people just like to complain. The game could have given them a million dollars and tried to solve every problem in their life, and they would still would have complained. BOTW and TOTK are fine.
I am actually fine with TotK, but I share the opinion that it feels a bit like a DLC for BotW. It feels a bit like "do the same trick again". I like the start of the game an how the Story starts, bur progressing in the story It felt like every npc tells the Story again after I beat a boss. I also do not like this sand box approach with the powers. I do unterstand that many players loved the freedom that TotK provided, but for me it was a bit to much. So I stick with BotW, even if it's the simpler game. Anyway, I enjoyed TotK while I played it 😋
I spent 165 hours in Tears... I probably won't play through it again... ever. That is how I ultimately feel on it... doing all the shrines, empty main story, and getting Hestuo poo again, makes me cringe as hard as the staw hat crew did when Luffy F'ed up in Wano... if you know you know!
"Why do people hate 2 10/10 games. Who cares, theyre dumb."
Zelda games : Music Art Puzzles Boss fights Dungeons Unlimited ways to explore and fight Go play your RPG game
All these people don’t appreciate… they give better rates to games like astrobot or that dumb card game… Tears of The Kingdom is amazing
Well im finally beating it after bought first day
Tears of the kingdom is the first Zelda release I haven't bought because of how sad I was after botw.
Totk was cool at first but after 200 hours I just wanted to finish the game. The story started off interesting but fell flat no connection to past Ganondorfs or mention of anything from ocarina or twilight. Zelda plot twist was cool. Other characters barely played any role in the story such as Purah, Paya they just stayed in the same spot for 300 hours not even giving you any side quests or something to connect with them. The other thing I had gripe with apart from using the same cutscene after every major dungeons. The sky islands were boring as shit once you’ve been to the first 10 you know what to expect no NPC’s or anything to meet up there apart from some robots. The depths was a huge waste of space and time. Apart from the temple down there it’s another giant waste of time exploring you learn quickly the only thing down there is outfit pieces and wasting all your weapons. They could have made the depths smaller and spent more time making the sky islands interesting or making better side quests with NPCs like Purah
