Hi, I’m Mindy! I live in a stationary fifth-wheel trailer with my husband and dog. In 2020, we sold our 2,000 sq ft house because we felt God was leading us to live simpler, more generous lives. We are Bible-believing Christians, trying our best to make our life choices through that worldview.
The Apostle's Creed is a summary of the core beliefs of Christians worldwide:

born of the Virgin Mary,

Minimalism - A Biblical Perspective
Today I want to talk about the Pros and Cons of Minimalism from a Biblical perspective!
But does God really care if I have a capsule wardrobe or that all my interior decorations are in soft, neutral colors? Well, according to 2 Corinthians 10:5, I want to take every thought captive to obey Christ. So, if I have an idea or philosophy guiding my life choices, I need to examine that through the lens of the Bible to make sure I’m not disobeying Christ in some way. Let's study this topic together!

just found your site. i am retiring to wv in the spring... did you decide to build the shed roof supports so close to the rv to make sort of a faraday wind cage. i have thought of doing the same thing because i do not want to blow away in hi winds! t.y. for any guidance.
Why not encircle the RV more for winter and to protect RV?
very smart, its too bad the structure couldnt have temp insulated walls to slide into place for the winter for extra heat etc

How is living for 3 years stationary in a 5th wheel? I would like to ship one to Maui to live in a farm like my wife and dream. Do you see your self living on it for 15 years ?
How many years you live in the RV?
If I did something like this I'd build something like an external mud room. Wouldnt have to be heated or anything but out of the elements and keeps dirty shoes out of the house.

Interesting setup you have. I'm curious why you haven't finished the building your 5th wheel trailer is in? If you were to finish the wall to the south with clear building panels and finish the north side of the building with mostly non clear building panels and use clear building panels where there are windows on the north side to be able to see out, you would increase the temps in the 5th wheel by a lot. You should be able to take the clear panels down in the summer, since that would heat up to much. But for many days you would be able to get all of your heat from the sun. And blocking the wind would help a lot in the winter. The upper highest clear panels you might leave on all year, but the bottom 10 feet could be removable for the summer, and then put back when it gets cold. I think you are doing great and I'm wishing you the best.
Those are some great ideas! Our initial budget was just for a roof and a wind-blocking wall, but maybe in the future we will add on to it!

Hi Donna, it's just the mattress that is built into the couch, so I'm not sure. The back cushions actually fold down to make part of the mattress. The cushion has definitely lessened since we moved in, and I'm thinking we'll need some sort of replacement soon!
Thank you for the video. We have a very similar RV on recreation property. Same countertops and same replacement MagicChef electric fridge! You do a great job of living a full life in a small space. Hi Bruce T - Thanks for your comment! We do have mice occasionally, and I simply put some dry dog food in a reusable mouse trap. I catch one right after another until that family is gone. But I think letting the neighbor's barn cat hang out under our trailer this winter may have reduced the mice problem! But I also make sure not to leave any dog food out. The first year we found kibble hoarded into various drawers. :)

It has worked out well for us so far, but we do have to be prepared to leave anything we build if and when we move.
You have no idea the arrangement they have. They could be helping an elderly couple remain at home instead of going to a nursing home. They may be taking care of parents or family...they may work for these people and in lieu of a big paycheck live for free....

Ah yes, the perennial problem of what to keep and what to discard. I do a lot of jigsaw puzzles as I have the time to do so but I don't keep them. They get passed on to the local community via a weekly puzzle exchange in a local hall. 🧩🧩 I have about a dozen I have kept plus my wooden Wentworth ones. How much room you have does tend to dictate how many jigsaws you can keep. Whether you will do a jigsaw again will also be a factor on whether to keep or discard. There are so many lovely jigsaws to do today and a good choice of images and sizes.

If it were our pet, I would agree, but it is one of many barn cats in our area, so we simply provide a little shelter and food.
@@TinyHomeHobbies You need to call animal control and report these cats so they can get some help & not suffer another winter. They will take the animals or force the owners to provide care.

Yes, absolutely! I think our highest bill in the 3 winters we've been here was around $250, which would have been for a 4 or 5-week period, which is pretty ridiculous for such a small space. It works in our budget, but definitely something to plan for.

Ha ha, I know, right? :) No, we are very involved in our area with family, friends, work, church, etc, so we have no plans of traveling in this thing. The trailer is simply a tool that provides us a cheaper way to live and we are just fine with that!
