    The letter C also sounds like /k/ in consonant clusters like CL and CR in words like clap, clean, client, crib, cream, crime and so on. Pronouncing some consonant sounds in Isolation in English is super hard, especially the "R" sound and the situation becomes more challenging when it comes to pronouncing the R sound in consonant clusters. I'm a native speaker of Brazilian Portuguese and I've been studying American English pronunciation for a while and I haven't been able to perfect my R sound in consonant clusters yet. I often have a hard time with it. However, I'll just keep trying until it comes out naturally. I won't give, up after all, practice makes perfect, right?

    He’s right, when speaking people tend to drop the syllable to say the word faster or slur it together in their speech. You can say it both ways and still be correct.

      Thanks for the feedback. Of course he can speak however he wants to. He’s my husband and I love his accent😍. But he told me he wants to speak more like me, so we shared a few videos in case there are others who’d like a more American-style accent too.

  • @xandrewhite4835
    @xandrewhite4835 2 месяца назад

    Not to be a hater, but I'm pretty sure most dictionary pronunciations list it as "in-ter-est-ing"? The slurring of the t-e-r into just a "truh" sound is more of an American dialect thing than anything else, which I would argue disqualifies the e from being considered a silent letter (unless 'intresting' one day becomes the universal pronunciation, in which case it would be).

    • @rightenglishcourse
      @rightenglishcourse 2 месяца назад

      You are absolutely correct. I teach my dialect, which is American English. If you want to say all four syllables, that’s totally fine and everyone will understand you. But it is noticeable to the American ear if you don’t reduce this word.

      😂 yeah… I came off a little too serious in this video. Obviously, people will still understand English learners if they speak with the full forms. It’s just meant to be an example of reduced speech, which is something English learners need to be aware of in order to understand others.
