Backstroker gets carried so hard he physically can't lose race
RIT's A relay team pulls out quite the comeback after our backstroker forgets what race he's swimming.

Stumbled across this video 5 years later my brother was the freestyler. Im pretty sure my dad was yelling near the end.
Why is this IM so weird its fly back breast free and they go back breast fly free?? I’ve never seen that in my years of swimming

Was it not a DQ when he rolled into his stomach to finish the backstroke leg at the 100, or am I seeing this wrong? Also, I had something sort of similar happen to me. Had just made my first-ever district cut in the 100 back, so I wasn't really paying attention in the 4x1 and dove in a 50 early. Fortunately, when I saw my teammate turning, I stopped my relay start somewhat (I still went in, but had a bit of control regarding how we collided), so he was fine, but it was easily the most embarrassing DQ of my career.
to be fair even with the mistake he was outpacing some of the others lol

I thought the backstroke was to be last to come out and his teammates were so far ahead he literally couldn’t lose no matter how slow his pace was.😂
I hate to be that guy, but 25m swimming has to be the dumbest sport in the world. Its almost 50% turns and underwater ability with very little of the actual stroke involved.

It's crazy because all four people on that team are so much better than the rest of the competition. Like I know the back stroker fucked up but he was still in the lead up until he messed up by stopping halfway. And he still caught up a bit by the time he finished.

Backstroker: actually woulda started strong if not for his mishap Breaststroker: HARD CARRY, CAME BACK SO STRONG Flyer: gained a little lead to keep lanes 3, 4, and 5 still in the race for 1st Freestyler: brought it home, kept a good pace

The backstroker wasn't entirely carried though. He gained some ground after stopping. And it's a mistake I think everyone makes at some point in their life. Good job to the team!
