I suggest you test it and get at least a thousand rounds on it before you paint it. You're gone probably won't have any issues however of those MSR rifles that did have issues most of them were in the early generation like your rifle is.

Actually all AUG including the very first one have forward assist. It's just different than an AR. On the very early msar rifles they made the forward assist like an AR which is what you have. Then later they left it off and those msar don't have any forward assist at all. Nor do they need it.

Your gun is a very early m s a r later once did not have the forward assist.

You can use AUG charging handles and magazine releases.

You can remove the forward assist or change stocks.

The heresy design 9 mil kit can be made to work with the MSAR but you'll need different magazines because the heresy magazines don't work at least not without modification.

It is good and important that you charge it Palm up. Good on ya mate.

If you ever need any help with MSAR parts or knowledge like which AUG parts you can use etc. let me know I'm kind of one of the MSAR fan club leaders and all that kind of thing.

That's an MSAR and in some ways the Gen 4 and E4 are a bit better than the AUG.
