Déjà Vu

A song by Gordon Lightfoot, an out-take from a casual back-porch jam ("leave the door open a dog's width") by Ben Hulan and Rob Lifford. Ben is playing Rob's Pono octave mandolin and Rob is playing his own Ellis A5 Deluxe. The rains are falling and you can hear cars passing on the road nearby, including one rather noisy recycling truck.

Words by Andy Razaf, with music by Thomas "Fats" Waller and Harry Brooks. This is just an out-take from a casual back porch jam with Ben Hulan and Rob Lifford in Austin, Texas. Ben is playing the guitar he built with his father (Dick Hulan), which was later set up and re-finished by Robert Filippi of Henry Guitars. Rob (Lifford) is playing Ben's 2011 Ellis mandolin.

I've wanted to learn this piece for a long time. Great thing to do while sheltering in place during a pandemic! This is performed on a 1953 Martin 0-18T tenor guitar, captured via an Audio Technica AT 4033 condenser mic into a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio interface using the Mac "Photo Booth" app, with titles and transition effects courtesy of iMovie.
