HistoryMaps is a platform where Users can:
- Learn about history visually
- Create Timelines and Maps of historical events.
HistoryMaps is just a timeline of events with a map. Yet the combination of these two dimensions make the learning of history intuitive. Geospatial context( space) and Temporal context(time) are very abstract constructs that are hard to present in book form. With new modes of learning, we can experience stories in a much more engaging way. This is one of the core goals of this platform: simplify things.

HistoryMaps Presents: History of Sweden

Sweden's history begins with the settlement of its lands after the Ice Age, around 12,000 BCE, when early inhabitants relied on hunting, gathering, and fishing for survival. During the Stone Age, these communities crafted tools from stone. Written records about Sweden before 1000 CE are scarce, but by the late 10th century, Sweden entered recorded history. The modern Swedish state gradually formed through a long process of unification, marked by the establishment of common laws in the 13th century. At this time, Sweden encompassed much of its current southern regions and parts of Finland.

This is some awesome history, also shows how the European Continent maintained a lot of the complex economic ideas that they 'lost' when Eastern Rome fell.

Watch the Trilogy! The Admiral: Roaring Currents, Hansan: Rising Dragon, and Noryang: Deadly Sea. Also read the book, Nanjung Ilgi: War Diary of Admiral Yi Sun-sin (it's in English). He is the world's greatest admiral who protected his country despite dealing with a weak country and imbecile king who almost tortured him to death. There would be no Korea without him.

Is this an actual historic ship or is it like the Trireme ? They have found at least one not just drawings ?
Trireme is also an actual historic ship.
@@ひろゆき二十一 Please cite ONE instance where even pieces of one has been dug up . I bet you do not find one . They have found smaller but not the Trireme . So I ask again , is this a real historical ship or one of those they only found in DeVinci type texts with airplane drawings ?
Turtle ship was real existed.
Since the turtle ship sank in the Battle of Chiljeonryang, no actual relics were found. However, it appears to exist after cross-verification in historical records from Korea and Japan.
And the Turtle ship is the reason the Europeans never tried to colonize Korea!😂
can i get the photos for wallpaper?
Everyone, this person @hirono1 has some kind of pro-Japanese/anti-Korean agenda, spewing lies about Korean Admiral Yi Sun Shin and his victories against Japanese invaders. Ignore him.
The Turtle Ship had a flat bottom, so it could not move upwind when the sails were raised. Also, the spikes on the deck made it impossible to raise the sails. The gunpowder used in the cannons at that time was black powder, so a lot of black smoke was produced when fired. Therefore, if a cannon was placed inside the ship, soldiers would die. If a lot of iron spikes were placed on the deck, the weight balance would be lost and the ship would capsize. In fact, a reproduction experiment was conducted in Korea in recent years, but the ship capsized while being towed. The design of the Turtle Ship that Koreans claim is unreasonable and impossible to realize.
Hirono again, reading Japanese history books, which pervert history and lie to their children by denying the atrocities Japan committed in Korea and Asia.
May be you, Japanese guy wants to believe the Turtle ship to be fake, ridiculously. But there is no evidence that your mention ia true, right? 😊 For example, as for the gun powder issue, the cannons were not completely "embedded" in the superstructure, instead they were protruded out side. So, the possibility that black gun powder killed the soldiers inside was extremely low.
@@물고기-d9e There is no record that the Turtle Ship was completed, nor that it fought against the Japanese navy. The only records of the Turtle Ship's exploits are in the Jeongbi-roku, written by Ryu Seong-ryong, who did not see the battle, based on hearsay and imagination, and fiction written more than 100 years after the battle. They are all complete fabrication. Recent Korean people have tried to recreate the Turtle Ship several times, but all of them have failed and sunk, so they are now all on display on land. The structure itself, which can carry many heavy iron spikes and cannons on the deck, is impossible. And Koreans have searched the seabed of Chilcheonryang, where the Turtle Ship is supposed to have sunk, many times, but have not been able to find even a single iron spike. It's all a lie. The smoke from the cannons at that time did not come out forward. It came out backward. A cannon that the Japanese navy captured from Korea still exists. It is poorly cast and emits a lot of smoke. It is obvious that if it was fired, the inside of the ship would turn black. According to Yi Sun-sin's diary and the Japanese records, the main weapon of the Korean navy was flaming arrows. These were actually effective and were the reason for the victory over the Wakisaka forces in the Battle of Hansan Island. However, after the Battle of Hansan Island, when the Japanese navy set up artillery batteries on the cape, Yi Sun-sin was unable to do anything. So he began to ignore the Joseon Dynasty's orders to attack, and was punished. He was not demoted because of a conspiracy. It was because he deserted from the enemy. It was a punishment he deserved.
It is too boring to read all what you are saying. Anyway, Japanese guys talk too much as like you. You, racist Japanese guys have same perspective. Even if there is a record or evidence, you guys always shout that it is fake or lie. So, it is ridiculous to say that turtle ship is a fake since you cannot find any evidence. Well, I don't have enough time to fight you here, so please trust whatever you believe. @@hiroono1
@@물고기-d9e Koreans seem to have no ability to understand logical arguments. That's why they can't win the Nobel Prize. If we examine it based on evidence, it is clear that the Turtle Ship did not exist.

The Templars transformed European society, don't forget they were operating in the 13th and 14th century and some of the 12th. They laid the foundations of modern European culture and people have looked at the Templars and said why did they accomplish so much when all the other, sometimes much larger and more established Orders, accomplish so very little and the answer is they had a different belief system. They were following a spiritual path, a path of service. They founded the European banking system. They gave us artifacts which we still use today, most people today carry a credit card and a cheque book, both of which originated with the Templars back in the 12th century, they're not modern inventions at all. The credit note was an idea that came from their Arab brethren, which they called ‘note of hand’ today more commonly known as a travellers cheque. Whilst protecting the pilgrimage routes they enabled long-distance overland trade to take place, which led to the rise of an entirely new mercantile class, the bourgeoisie. This transformed the balance of power within European society and the Templar order were into viniculture, farming, quarrying, mining, milling, transportation, export-import. They transported people as well as goods and they literally changed Europe in a way that is totally irreversible. They laid the basis of what we would now call modern capitalism. They were bigger than any multinational conglomerate in their time and barriers of language and international borders mattered nothing to them. This all sprang from a spiritual belief founded on the principles of service and it service to other people that mattered. They say in the Sufi order that there is no true enlightenment until you can recognise the divine signature in every aspect of God's creation and by serving that you serve God. So, why serving your fellow man, by treating the animal and the plant kingdom with respect and the earth we live on with respect, we are serving God and if more people and followed that we wouldn't be in the present ecological mess we're in at the moment. In the Freemasons they have the same philosophy, pretty much, except they keep it simpler, ostensibly they claim to make good men better which they do through teaching ritual and allegory. The basic principles they're teaching of Brotherhood is based on the foundations of truth and justice they inherited from the Templar tradition.

I remember reading a book about Helen Keller as a child. She has been a hero of mine ever since. An amazing woman.
I’m ashamed to say besides the fact that she had a brilliant mind, yet was blind and deaf … I haven’t read much more about Helen Keller. I shall rectify that immediately. 🌹❤️
When i was 12, mum bought me a book called "helen kellers teacher". It really made a huge impact on me. I would never have thought someone who couldn't see or hear could achieve so much. But it was the miracle of these 2 coming together that was truly mind blowing. Anne taught helen how to speak a type of sign language via touch through the hands, and how to read Braille. Its just an amazing story, everyone needs to know about Anne and Helen.
An amazing woman in history.
