Fred Switzer served as the program director at KTAE 1260 AM radio in Taylor, TX for many years. You can hear him record a commercial at 4:40 in the video. Fred began working at the station in 1952 and remained until it was sold in the late 1990s. He became known to many as "the voice of Taylor" with his unique, on-air delivery style. Most of them were inspired by Patek's arrangements, anyway. Real Texas music, played by real musicians who could actually play their instruments. Melodies that never die. My favorite Joe Patek record! I rarely ever hear this one played on the local Texas polka radio shows. Actually, I've never heard it on the radio, though Patek's music does get plenty of coverage. Real Texas music by real musicians who could actually play their instruments. 'Nuff said. If you're ever in Shiner TX, visit Friday's Fried Chicken or Patek's Meat Market.
