    I made the cell phone cover for my Nokia cell phone-the one with the antenna (remember those?), and I made the devil's hat. I made the tank top from the sequel, and tried the basketweave scarf out of it. I made the purse many times from the Happy Hooker, and I still have it. I also crocheted a washcloth that I still use to this day for when I'm cleaning my bathroom. I also made the skull sweater from the first Stitch n' Bitch. I threw it away. I also crocheted two hats that used beginner basics from a pattern that I got on the Internet, and from another crochet book. I made crocheted fingerless gloves, and I couldn't wear them.

    I’m just learning how to knit and wondered what was in the knitting boxes so thank you! I have been crocheting for several years and am advanced. At one point, I was gifted a few months of the crochet box and I loved it, especially the yarn. But I wasn’t impressed with the way they wrote their patterns. Even the beginner projects seemed confusing at times. On that cross body bag I think they left out a whole step. I knew to do the step, so I was fine. But if I was a beginner it would have been really frustrating. Eventually I stopped doing their patterns and just used the items in the box for whatever I felt like making.

      Hi! I agree about the written instructions, and you’ll be pleased to know that they’ve approached me about creating video tutorials for each of the three projects in the first knitting kit (it’s actually an updated kit from the one I show here with different yarn and much nicer patterns.) I don’t yet have an agreement to make the videos in place, we are in the talking stages now, but it’s definitely something they want to try out and see if it’s worthwhile to include video tutorials (I think it’s necessary as a beginner, in my opinion.)

    Hi, I just found your channel so I am unsure if you jave tried any of the projects but i would definitely go for trying yo crossbody or makeup pouch as I feel you can get more use out of those 2 products. So if you have not tried them yet please do. I would love to see a video on those or an update on how well the instructions were and the final look of the product.

    The yarn is gorgeous but I’m super disappointed in the projects. I’m looking to get back into both crochet and knitting. After a 50 year hiatus. At first, I thought this box would be just what I’m looking for. When I was a teen and took a class (in the 60s), my first crochet project was a baby sweater and hat and my first knitting project was a cable sweater for ME. Like I said, disappointing. I’d be wasting my money.

    So funny, I just did a croc&et basket tutorial video with t-shirt yarn. That stuff is a pain to work with and I have been crocheting for over 40 years. I love my end basket but I think my next one will be with regular yarn. Oh and by the way if you pull for beginning tail you can close the hole and if not weave the tail back around the ring and then pull it(I see you figured that out). Also if you work fully in the round you would not have the line up the back, you can see what I mean on my basket video or my yarn bowl video. Your basket looks great.

  • @fayzane
    @fayzane 6 месяцев назад

    You're doing great! I have crocheted baskets before, and part of the difficulty is actually how tight the stitches are because you need some rigidity to the cloth. The stiffness is accomplished by using a hook that is a bit small for the yarn.

    • @StopDropandKnitPodcast
      @StopDropandKnitPodcast 6 месяцев назад

    Stephen has a lot of jealous distractors in the knitting world. There are indy yarn dyers who have had long poscasts blasting his designs while pushing the designs of their friends who only use their yarn. This was bound to happen. I have been watching his enemies going after him for years. It is very sad to see as he happens to be a good egg. Very generous and kind. I met him before he was famous and he hasn't changed a bit. I have multiple handmade quilt with blocks like this and as a Midwest boy i am sure that he is inspired by the same quilts.

    Hello and thank you for this super useful video! I found you because I am knitting my first ever garment, a very simple shrug, and in SPITE of having made a gauge swatch, it looks like it would be more suited to an eight-year-old... 😟 I’m knitting it in Drops Nepal, and at the nearly halfway stage, I can’t face ripping it out and starting over. You have given me some hope!! 😌😌🙏🏼🙏🏼 My question is, isn’t superwash yarn not supposed to be blockable…? Or have I TOTALLY misunderstood that…? 🤔 I absolutely love your sweater, by the way - what a beautiful knit! 😍 Mae

    • @StopDropandKnitPodcast
      @StopDropandKnitPodcast 9 месяцев назад

      Hi! You absolutely can block superwash wool! I’m pretty sure acrylic cannot be blocked, but wool, superwash or not, will work! Superwash does tend to grow, especially lengthwise, so perhaps that will work in your favor. You’ll need to block it aggressively every time you wash it, though, so keep that in mind. Also, there’s only so much blocking you can do without affecting the structure of the garment. Good luck!

    • @MaeS68
      @MaeS68 9 месяцев назад

      @@StopDropandKnitPodcastThank you for your reply. Actually the yarn I am knitting with, Drops Nepal, is not superwash - but I am hoping that the 30% alpaca within it may allow for some stretch 🙏🏼 I guess I was wondering what I might hope to recover in terms of percentage on the finished item… Thanks for your advice! 🤗

    Just picked up my oldest WIP, started in February 2014. Hope to finish it before the ten year anniversary 😆

    Hi Lisa. That green yarn is beautiful. I hope you are able to find something to knit with it. A new pattern using one of your completed gauge swatches perhaps?

    Don't be afraid to fix your cable, it's easier than you think. If I can do it, you definitely can!!!! 😄

    Hi Lisa! It was fun to see those projects again! If i was sitting on your couch with you, I'd recommend using the beautiful green yarns to make a Lento (said to be a nice quick knit). I'd help you fix the Lights cardigan, too.😊 But in lieu of that, I have two suggestions. 1. Knit up a cable swatch with some scrap yarn. Then practice dropping down just the cable, and reworking it (maybe include one or two stitches on either side). Good confidence booster. 2. When you work on the actual cardigan (which I'm confident you will), use a tapestry needle and waste yarn to run a life line where you want to stop frogging back to, so that you don't accidentally go too far. Do it one morning, when you feel fresh, will be alone for a couple of hours, and there are no other stresses. It's a daunting thing to undertake, but SO satisfying when it's done! Wishing you happy and successful knitting, Lisa! Best wishes! (Oh, P.S. sorry to say, I prefer no background music when you are talking, makes it harder to follow you. But you keep doing what makes you happy 😊)

      Oh, Tracy, I wish you were sitting next to me- I sure could use the support! Thanks for all the great suggestions. 😊

    Seeing your excitement to finish things reved up my Knitting mojo. I don't think I will do a WIP round up since I did one recently, but do think I will be focusing on finishing things this year

      I’m so glad! It feels so good to finish things! That was my main focus last year and I am so happy to have finished many of those longer projects, finally!

    I would say pick a fabric you like and search for a pattern with that gauge
