    I tried to summarize the video so people could print it and take it on their trip when they go. **Rocky Mountain National Park 2024 Timed Entry Reservation Guide** [Watch the full video here](ruclips.net/video/rhszP9FEFZY/видео.html) ### What is the Timed Entry Reservation System? Starting in 2022, Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP) became the fourth most visited national park in the U.S., with over 4.4 million visitors annually. To manage this influx of visitors, a timed entry reservation system was introduced. This system requires visitors to schedule a specific time slot for park entry, in addition to paying the regular entry fee. Several other national parks have adopted similar systems to handle high visitor numbers. ### When Do You Need a Timed Entry Reservation? If you plan to visit RMNP between May 24 and October 20, 2024, you’ll need a timed entry reservation. There are two types of permits: 1. **Bear Lake Road Corridor Permit** - **Access**: Full access to the park, including the Bear Lake Road Corridor. - **Time**: Required between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. - **Dates**: May 24 - October 20, 2024. - **Popular Spots in This Area**: Emerald Lake, Lake Haiyaha, Hallett Peak, and Moraine Park. 2. **Park Access without Bear Lake Road Corridor Permit** - **Access**: Access to all areas of the park except the Bear Lake Road Corridor. - **Time**: Required between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. - **Dates**: May 24 - October 14, 2024. - **Popular Spots in This Area**: Alluvial Fan, Wild Basin, Old Fall River Road, Trail Ridge Road, and the west side of the park (Grand Lake). ### When to Purchase a Timed Entry Reservation? - Reservations are released monthly and sell out quickly. - The first batch for entry from May 24 through June 30 will be available on **May 1** at 8:00 a.m. Mountain Time. - Future batches are released on the first of each month: - **June 1** for July - **July 1** for August - **August 1** for September - **September 1** for October ### How to Enter the Park with a Timed Entry Reservation 1. **Make Your Reservation**: Reserve a time slot at [recreation.gov](www.recreation.gov/). 2. **Arrive on Time**: You have a 2-hour window to enter the park after your reserved time. For example, if your reservation is at 11:00 a.m. for the Bear Lake Road Corridor, you must enter between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. 3. **Present Your Permit**: Show your PDF permit on your phone or a printed version at the entrance. Note: Cell reception is limited, so download your permit in advance. 4. **Pay Your Entry Fee**: Daily entry is $30 per vehicle, or $35 for a week. Entry is free with an annual national parks pass or senior pass. 5. **Re-Entry Rules**: You can re-enter the park anytime during the day, but if you leave the Bear Lake Road Corridor, you cannot re-enter that area until after 2:00 p.m. ### Tips for Securing a Timed Entry Reservation - **Create an Account Early**: Set up an account on [recreation.gov](www.recreation.gov/) before the release day. - **Log in Before 8:00 a.m. Mountain Time**: Be ready to purchase as soon as the reservations become available. - **Be Quick**: Reservations sell out in minutes. Add multiple days to your cart and check out within 15 minutes, or they will be released again. - **Only One Permit per Vehicle per Day**: You can only purchase one permit at a time. If you want to change your reservation, you must release your original permit first. ### How to Enter RMNP Without a Timed Entry Reservation 1. **Off-Hours Entry**: Enter without a reservation before 5:00 a.m. or after 6:00 p.m. for the Bear Lake Road Corridor, or before 9:00 a.m. or after 2:00 p.m. for the rest of the park. 2. **Shuttle Option**: Use the hiker shuttle from Estes Park Visitor Center to the Park and Ride area in the Bear Lake Road Corridor. Shuttle tickets are $2 per person and are available on the same dates as the park reservations. 3. **Day-Before Permits**: A limited number of permits are released the day before at 7:00 p.m. Mountain Time on [recreation.gov](www.recreation.gov/). ### Other Options - **Campgrounds**: If you reserve a campsite, it acts as your timed entry permit. However, the Longs Peak Campground still requires a timed entry permit. The Moraine Park Campground is currently closed but is expected to reopen by June 2024. - **Guided Tours**: Join a guided tour. A licensed tour includes the timed entry permit. Explore Estes offers private tours, but book early as spots fill up fast. ### Still Have Questions? - Check the video description for a link to a detailed blog post with FAQs. - Leave comments on the video if you need more help. - For urgent questions, contact the Rocky Mountain National Park or recreation.gov directly. Enjoy your adventure in Rocky Mountain National Park! Happy exploring!

Can we expect to just drive straight in or will there be traffic delays to account for? Thanks again!

    • @exploreestes

    Hi! Maybe you can provide me with some more info as my wife and I are a little confused. We bought Timed Entry + bear lake road. Our ticket says 4PM on it. Can you please explain this. Does this mean that we can enter the park at any time and be at Bear Lake by 4PM or do we have to wait until 4PM to enter the park. We would like to explore as much of the park as we can and want to make sure what we bought will allow us to do that and explore hike around Bear Lake.

    • @exploreestes
      @exploreestes 3 месяца назад

      If you have a reservation for Bear Lake Rd at 4pm, that means you cannot enter Rocky Mountain National Park until 4pm. Once it is your reservation time, you must enter the National Park AND Bear Lake Road anytime from 4-6pm. However, you can still enter the National Park before 9am without a reservation and you can explore other areas, then head to Bear Lake Rd between 4-6pm.

      If the reservation is not for bear lake road, you cannot enter the Bear lake road corridor during peak times, you can only enter before 5am or after 6pm to bear lake road corridor without a reservation. Our tours are booking very quickly so be sure to book soon if you’re interested in our private summer tour!

    Thank you for all this information! Is the timed entry pass for the park and/or bear lake just if you are going to bring your own vehicle? For example, would I need a separate timed entry pass or timed entry +bear lake road pass if I buy a hiker shuttle pass to take me into the park and then pick up the bear lake shuttle from the park and ride station?

      You’re welcome! Your hiker shuttle reservation acts as your timed entry reservation.

    There are 52 14,000’ + peaks in Colorado. Several of them aren’t particularly difficult to summit beyond a bit of rock scrambling/ rock hopping; no climbing equipment needed.

      Yes, I think this, in part, adds to the false sense of security as many 14ers are hikes and do not require any climbing skills. Longs Peak is much different once you reach the boulder field.

      The main keyhole route isn't really considered technical because it's just class 3 and there's no climbing gear required other than shoes with traction.

      @gzig61 While not required, helmets are HIGHLY recommended to have with you.
