    Do you use the Mobile App Tana Capture? It doesn't recognize Tags or @ mentions. How do you handle mobile captures?

    Jake!!! More more more! Please! Haven’t started Tana yet cuz was afraid I couldn’t learn. Thank you for: a) starting at a level that everyone knows (pen and paper) and b) using subjects to type in that everyone knows about, (you would be amazed at how many note taking teachers don’t. They just use whatever they know about in their world and NOBODY ELSE DOES. so we can’t follow., 90 percent of the teachers out there teach in this unknowable way. Thank you for being the rare exception. Rozwin Could you do a series of videos, using “the world of Dogs” :(or Vegetables or Cats) then the connecting info could be: the history of each thing, the country of origin, how it got started, uses for the thing. Then EVERYONE can understand, thank you Jake!!!!

    When you were tagging Milo the second time, it gave you the option to create it a second time although it was already in the library .. the only thing I could see different is that you didn't capitalize the M.. from this it would seem that mentions are case sensitive..?

    • @jake-singer-7
      @jake-singer-7 2 месяца назад

      I think every time you tag something with "@", there will be the option to create a new reference. Beneath that option, it will show search results to help you find previous times you may have created that thing, in case you had.

      I loved it too, but I ultimately switched to Tana, especially for my quick thoughts and notes for things I'm studying. I'm even using it for networking and tracking business relationships. I found Obsidian so beautifully customizable, I spent more time customizing than I did using it.

      @@jake-singer-7 Jake, The other topics which would be very helpful to understand which need a deeper but simpler understanding are: When to apply multiple supertags to a node vs building extensions on supertags? Ontology and structures to yield desired queries, Building the queries to find any combination needed from within the structures that were built to support them, Purpose and usage of the "Related content" option. Thanks for considering these!

  • @mzilner

    Great video thanks for all the information. How do you determine when to do an at mention versus a tag? Are they at mentions more of a specific person place or thing or super tags are more general such as use an app mention for a specific presentation and then use a tag for general presentations ?

    • @jake-singer-7
      @jake-singer-7 4 месяца назад

      Thank you! I'm making a new video that goes over this question in more detail, building on the examples in this video. Short answer: tagging basically accomplishes the same goal as 'at-mentioning' but with more value, in other words it not only creates a reference to them, but it also tells us a little bit more about what sort of thing it is. BUT it can be a bit "harder" to do in-line, so sometimes I'll do the @-mention, and then come back later and tag it.

    I am a newbie to Tana and have been searching for an understanding of the basics. This was an excellent tutorial! Thank you for doing this! It was extremely helpful to capture your keyboard strokes for times when you didn't mention what keys you were pressing. I have Tana on both a Mac and PC and had no problem shifting from one to the other. Your training style is excellent and comprehensive. I'm looking forward to more Tana videos on your channel!
