Hi, when placed in administrative processing, unfortunately, there’s no way to know how long it will take. It can be quick and only take a few weeks or it can be much longer. Typically, there’s additional security checks that the officer wants to complete or there’s another concern they want to review further but they don’t necessarily tell you exactly what that is. If they need more information or documents from you they will let you know most likely by email. You can also continue to follow up with the embassy or consulate to get the status of your case. Hi, no, it can be submitted separately. However, NVC gives you access via the CEAC system after paying your fees. So, it’s possible to have access to form i-864 first. But, if you have access to all, you definitely can submit separately. Hope this helps.

Hi, when you receive the email it will have instructions of your next steps typically to complete the DS160, schedule your med exams and to schedule your visa interview. The passport pick up is after you’ve been approved at you interview. If approved, they will take your visa to place your visa inside and you will have to pick it up at a later date

Hi, I can’t tell how many characters are allowed. But it ask for your “surname" and your “Given" name which would include your 2 first names and your 1 middle name. Try entering your 2 first names and your middle name in the given field, it may be enough space. If it’s not, I would enter your 2 first names and then your middle initial. For instance, the given name is: John Paul James, enter "John Paul J.” So, if questioned you can mention the initial “J." for your middle name James is due to not having enough space. (You can write up a short letter stating this and upload it to the CEAC website under additional documents as well. Just a suggestion.) This is only my opinion, I’m not sure if this is best but this is how I would go about it if it were my situation. Hope this helps.

Hi, just type a signed letter stating you are single and never married and upload it. Yes, most likely the police certificate is expired so it’s probably best to get an updated one. But confirm how long it’s valid first.

@@Marriedtotheculture yes i just checked and the police report has been expired but i was trying to submit the letter it won’t let me do i have to both police report and the marriage certificate letter done before i can submit? I also read online some people had the same issue but they said as long you’re documentary qualified there is nothing to worry about i just need to get an updated police report

Hi, you’re under administrative processing because they need to further review your case before determining if it’s approved or not. Unfortunately, they’ll never tell you flat out what exactly needs a closer look. However, it appears the only thing that’s needed from you are quality passport photos. You can get that done now, but depending upon the length of your AP you may need to retake the photos. It sounds like they gave you back your passport? Once you are out of AP and approved they will ask for your passport again and those new passport photos. Wishing you all the best.

Thanks for the response. They gave me back my passport but told me to drop it off back with good quality passport size picture through a courier. On the paper where administrative processing was , the slot there wasn’t ticked .

Hi, no it shouldn’t delay. Just make sure to take both sponsor and joint sponsor’s I-864 forms and tax transcripts, w2s, copy of proof of citizenship (ex. passport biometric page) with you to interview for consular officer review in case it’s requested.

Hi, your joint sponsor will need to complete form I-864, submit copies of his/her most recent tax transcripts and proof of legal status. Typically you’ll upload via NVC’s CEAC. But since this is requested after your interview, you might want to contact the embassy to confirm if you should submit via CEAC or submit documents to them. If it’s taking you some time to get a response I suggest doing both online and sending it to the embassy. ceac.state.gov/ceac/

Hi, this is the information I found, Box 5 of Form SSA-1099 should have the amount of benefits you received. (This amount you should have reported to the IRS on line 6a of Form 1040, U.S. Individual Income Tax Return.) So, it should be reported on your tax form 1040. You will to check to confirm if the $11,000 on the total income line does not include your SSA benefit because you don’t want to mistakenly report it twice. Your tax transcripts are part of your total income your w2s are only requested for upload as a reference. Hi, if the US citizen spouse is petitioning for his/her spouse he/she must fill out form I-864. If a joint sponsor is needed in addition to the petitioner that joint sponsor also fills out a separate form I-864 as well. So, both will need to complete the form.

You might also want to bring any expired passports, which can show your travel history Recent passport photos, National ID number(if applicable). Bank statements to prove you can afford your travel and living expenses. And documents showing family ties to your home country like property documents or evidence of family in your home country. This interview should be similar to your initial interview. So, definitely passport stamps showing with your initial b1/b2 visa you travel out the country and came back into your home country on time and without issue will be beneficial at the interview. As well as evidence of strong ties to your home country.
