Hi, I'm Stitch! I like fictional characters a normal amount and try to stay cozy in the chaos brought on by cosplay and crafting.🪡✨
Junk Journaling for Cosplay 📓💖 why I started and how to make your own!
Junk journaling can be the perfect way to document your cosplays, from the tumultuous but rewarding crafting process to your adventures at con. I started my first cosplay junk journal back in March and completely filled it by the end of August. I wanted to share the joy it has brought me and how journaling has helped me fight perfectionism in my creative work. Join me in this video for a journal flip-through and set-up of my second journal!
This video wouldn't be possible without @kictor lovingly editing the privacy blurs on all those journal pages and helping me with the audio. She's my biggest encouragement in everything I create.

TGCF Cosplay Vlog 🦋🧵 making Hua Cheng's necklace & Hualian room decor
Просмотров 3,2 тыс.4 месяца назад
Let's make the iconic sleeveless manhua outfit for Hua Cheng, figure out what to do with all that TGCF art, and recreate Hua Cheng's butterfly necklace! I'm using a new editing program now and it's so much nicer to use, which hopefully means it won't be so long before my next video! Once again, I couldn't have made it through another video without @kictor showing me how to use the program, revi...

Let’s build a Ghibli sewing corner, create a stash build of San from Princess Mononoke, and cosplay in the woods. Thanks so much for checking out my first video! I’m excited to share more projects and connect with other fans, cosplayers and crafty folks in a new way. Cosplay photography and videography by my beautiful girlfriend @Kictor, who also answered all of my video editing questions and e...
Who’s your favorite Sanrio character? Mine’s cinnamon roll, pompompurin, chocolate, Kurumi, and maybe Pochacco. He’s warming up to me. I’m falling in love so.
@@Emmahearts3 In terms of Hello Kitty and friends, I love Pochacco the most! But my all time favorite is Marumofubiyori, he’s just so rare to find though!
@ I look at Marumofubiyori. He is super cute
I'm a person who struggles with every form of visual art, so I really admire all visual artists out there, including you. Your creativity really shows on every single page, and your voice is so soothing as you narrate the video, it was a pleasure to spend these six minutes here. I'm looking forward to future uploads!
@@leaf-in-beefleaf Thank you so much, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I’m actually quite similar I think-I don’t consider myself an artsy person at all but I’ve always really enjoyed collage-style work. Rearranging things that already exist is pretty accessible regardless of skill, so it’s been a good fit. :)
@@onestitchfromhell Well said! However, even rearranging things that already exist requires a certain dose of artistic sense. The feel for what looks just right and what does not fit, the placing, colour and shape alignment - that's really important, and that's exactly the skill I've seen you display! Since you weren't the creator of the pieces you've arranged, it might feel like you hadn't done much but if you think about it, arranging a collage, be it in a frame or on a blank page in a notebook, is almost like furnishing a house. Anybody (myself included) who's ever tried it can tell that it's not easy at all! After all, there would be no need for professional house furnishing and decour services if it was something just anybody could do... In conclusion, you seem like a pretty artsy person to me! ;)
Thank you so much for sharing, Stitch!! Your journal looks amazing and the video is just so aesthetic and relaxing to watch. I used to journal a lot when I was in school but it was mostly just writing. I've been wanting to get back into it and I save absolutely everything, so junk journaling seems like the logical next step.
@@seaturtle2112 I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I’m still getting the hang of making videos so it really means a lot. Sounds like junk journaling would be right up your alley! I hope you can try it out!!
Thank you for making such a healing vdo . I was always afraid of journaling as my writing is not that great. And I also have a habit of collecting random things. Thanks for sharing a new way of journaling. I might give it a try .😊
@@Twilight-ob6ez aww, I’m so glad! 💛 My own handwriting is very messy which held me back in the past. I think using the colored pens helps a lot because it can match the rest of the page and look pretty regardless of how the writing looks up close. I also have a white-out tape roller for when I really mess up a word. ☺️ I hope you can give it a try!
Kind of having a bad day, but this video was so nice and made me feel a lot better and gave me some good ideas. Thank you!
I was just thinking earlier I have a TON of old magazines that I never finished fully reading and that I've been keeping because my completionist mind thinks I will someday read them. But I won't, so I'm going to do what I've been thinking about for years now and cut out cool art/pictures from them that I can use for journaling. I think I have the strength to do it now.
@@nyxnixcharonI’m sorry that you’re having a bad day, but it’s wonderful to hear that this could give you an extra push to start! 💛 I’ve found junk journaling to be a great way to completely empty my brain no matter how I’m feeling. Something about arranging all those collage pieces is just so relaxing! I hope that you can try it out and really enjoy it ☺️
@@onestitchfromhell Definitely going to try it out. Thank you!
I had never heard of the junk journal until now! It looks interesting. Thanks for sharing the experience 😊❤
@@luciamds9289 Thank you for watching! 😊
MOTHER THIS IS AMAZING! I have a manifesting journal where I just stick stuff I wanna manifest and maybe now want to do a junk journal 🫶🏼
@@stephscore sounds like you’re halfway there already!! Definitely give it a try if you’re big on journaling 😁
@@onestitchfromhell i definitely shall!!
This is so pretty💖
Oh the journal is so cute!
Your journal is incredible!! The colors and different layouts are so cool, and it's so fun to glance at every page! I kind of do this with my story notebooks, though it's a little more restrictive since the things I paste in should be related to (or help inspire) my story
Thank you so much! I often do just flip through to glance at the pages haha Having one for your story is so cool! What a great tool to not only inspire you when you look at it, but to keep you thinking about your story whilst collecting junk in daily life 😁
This is so cute! Maybe I'll try this one day. I've got a crap ton of junk from well, I don't know. I keep the most random papers in existence in my drawer, so maybe I can use them for this. Thanks for the idea! >v<
Yes, definitely give it a shot! It’s perfect if you’re a random paper by nature. And there’s no requirement to write alongside it either if it’s not your style!
I've kept so many stickers and junk from cons I've went to and never knew what to use it for... I might give this a try, it looks so fun and rewarding!!
I was the same way! Definitely try it out! It’s been soooo rewarding for me, from the quiet time spent glueing things to pages to flipping through all the memories from months prior. 😊
Your journal looks so cute 😍Maybe I should try out too, it sounds really fun.
Thank you so much! I’d love it if you gave it a try! ☺️
I’ve been wanting to start a junk journal but as a perfectionist I’m always afraid to to anything that can be “permanent” on a page but this has made me want to actually start doing it to remember memories and moments with friends and my animals. Thank you stitch!
Perfectionism is something I struggle with a lot! When I first started junk journaling I really had to force myself to let go of little imperfections like scribbled out words or wonky doodles, and it was rather hard for me to “commit” to using things like stickers. For example, it took me weeks to add the first sticker to my cover and months for me to slowly add the rest. But every time I ended up feeling happiness instead of regret. 😂 If you’re the same way, I definitely recommend starting out with true junk-stuff you’d throw away anyways. When that becomes easier you might find yourself using the “too nice to use” stationary and whatnot! At any rate, I wish you the best of luck and hope you can give it a try even if it takes some courage!
Such a great video, Stitch!! Your journal looked so cool and you make it look super fun! Also, I love the little Calcifer!
Thank you so much!! Sometimes I love my cosplay props so much they end up as everyday decor 😂
I have a junk journal for both personal stuff and then one for my book reviews journal!! This has given me some great ideas! Especially with the artist business cards.
I’m so glad it could add to your journaling arsenal!! ☺️ love that you have one just for book reviews! What a good way to keep track and commemorate your reads!
Great video and your journal looks amazing <3
finally something to do with all the trash i hoard! yippeee
My thoughts exactly! Some of that junk of mine is years old!! 😂
You’re so creative Mother Stitch! I loved this so much it’s such an amazing idea to do to try to clear space and relax!
It’s such a godsend for cards and notes from friends that I just can’t bear to throw away!! I just rescued some Christmas cards from LAST YEAR off the fridge to put to rest in my journal. 😂
I really like this idea! I have a lot of business cards and stickers saved from old cons and could totally see myself making them into something like this
Yes absolutely!! A great way to cherish the memories 💛
I would love to do a journal like this, but I know its going to be out of order making things harder to find.
Haha most people probably don’t decorate the pages in advance the way I do, so if you prefer to keep things in order it’s totally possible! 😁
It's those 'little wins' in daily life that make it beautiful. ❤ I noticed and love this part in your journal: 'i have to warn you, i am no good at making things' said bear. 'i don't mind!' chortled thing, who was just happy to be made. This was a lovely and beautiful video, thank you so much for sharing this with us, Stich. 🥰❤🥺
Thank you so much! I thought that quote was a good one to end the journal. It’s from a whimsical calendar I was gifted last year! 🤭
@@onestitchfromhell It was a perfect end page for a perfect journal! ❤️ Also, a heartwarming encouragement when you're experiencing an artist's block. ❤️❤️❤️
Mother stitch :3 yippee!!!! It looks really good!!
Mother Stitch has inspired me to use all my stationary and business cards I’ve collected from conventions! I really want to do this, and I’m sure it will be lots of fun!! Btw your journal looks beautiful and really aesthetic! <3
Thank you so much!! Artist business cards are one of my absolutely favorite things to junk journal with! I’m so excited that you’re giving it a try! 😁
@@onestitchfromhell Yes, you can tell all the effort they have put into all their work, and the designs! After conventions I love to check out their websites!!
So cute!!!! ✨️✨️✨️✨️
Okay! Finished watching! Im SO Inspired! I also have a huge issue with not using my stickers that i collect. I loved this so so much (I knew I would) Your crafting is always so calming to watch! <3
Thank you so much!! Journaling has truly helped me so much in fighting that “I’m going to waste this sticker by using it” feeling. 😂
Wow that looks amazing! I’ve always wanted to make a journal like this it’s so cute!!
Thank you so much!! It really couldn’t be easier to start if you wanna go for it!! 😊
YOU ARE SO COOL! I absolutely love seeing all the pages you make and you have an incredible knack for colour coordination and making totally random pieces of paper and stickers and ephemera look like they've always belonged together!
THANK YOU MY LOVE 🥹 and thank you for always collecting pieces of ephemera for me ❤️
Yes! Im so excited for this!!!
@@jennjenn6635 hehehe ☺️ I absolutely adore the Howl candles you gave me btw!! 💛 They’re the perfect size to put on while crafting without worrying about tunneling when I need to blow them out. We take tunneling seriously in this household!! 😂
That is such a nice concept, I've never heard of junk journaling before! Now I really want to try (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.) I already have an almost empty diary, I'm just missing the motivation 😅
I’m so happy you want to try it! I think my trick for feeling motivated is to treat the decorating part like its own hobby. 🤭 When I finally have something to write about, the pages are already ready for me and there’s a lot less empty space to fill so it’s not as intimidating!
@@onestitchfromhell that seem to be nice trick, I'll try starting once I've gathered enough "junk" because I used to glue them randomly on my sketchbook. Thank you for actually replying to my comment ☺️ (also your journal looks amazing 🥰)
THIS IS AMAZING! My mom started junk journaling and now I have with all the left over bits of stuff. Also it was so exciting to see my own art in your junk journal!!!
I love that it’s something you and your mom share in common!! Your stickers added such a fun vibe, thank you so much for sending them! 😊
Of course! I love treating you to tons of stickers for your journal ♥️
This was so relaxing to watch!! Your journal looks so happy!! (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧
Awww! 🥹 It really is my happy place, even when I’m writing down little worries or confessing my crafting fails! I only feel good things when I look back on the pages ☺️💛
I’ve never tried junk journaling before but it looks fun!!! I’m gonna try! ❤
@@corinmiyuki4078 yay!! It’s been so much fun for me so I hope you can enjoy it too! Let it be a place where your creativity runs free! 😊💛
This made me tear up a little watching, but in such a good way! I’ve got to give this idea a try when I have the time!
@@saiyakyy awww! 💛 Start collecting junk now and you’ll have plenty of materials for when you’re ready to start!🤭
STITCH THE JOURNAL LOOKS SO GOOD!!!! you are so neat, it's so cool!!
This is such a cute idea! Great video as always, Stitch 😊
@@emmaslavin14 thank you Emma!! 💛✨
(In the cadence of “will you wear wigs”) Have you junk journaled? Will you junk journal?? When will you junk journal??? But for real, be sure to share what you think! I want to hear about whether journaling has worked for you before or if you’re interested in trying this style, especially for documenting your cosplay crafting! 😁
Such a great reference haha!!
I tried it right after I saw your video and yeah it's quiet relaxing :D !
@@forger2275 Nice!! I’m so glad you liked it!
MOTHER STITCH THE JOURNAL LOOKS AMAZING
The journal is so pretty!!
@@blue_sketchbook thank you so much! Putting the pages together is like a hobby in itself for me 🥰
Watching your video was fun. You're very skillful! Let me ask you something, how long is the top? and does it go under or over the skirt? I don't understand this part of Geto's clothes and I can't find pictures of his clothes separated to understand it.
Thank you so much! The costume is currently in storage so unfortunately I'm not able to measure it for you, but I had the same questions when I was putting everything on! Personally, I think it looks more correct with the top tucked into the skirt. But truthfully you can't see it much either way!
the collage is such a great idea!! thank you for sharing, i really love the whole vibe of the video. it's so cozy!
loved the video, your voice is soooo soothing
The collage idea is amazing I finally have a new way of displaying my merch ❤
