    I have foot numbness, which progressed over three years, plus severe chronic lower back pain for one year. Cannot walk now. Testing in progress. Why should I not believe that nerves are being compressed? I need to understand why that’s not real or I will have to resort to medication, which I despise. Thank you for putting this out there. I so believe in Mind Body, but feel this is not it. 😢

    • @CrushingDoubt
      @CrushingDoubt День назад

      It makes total sense that you're wondering about these things. The key to beating doubt isn't to deny it or will yourself to believe otherwise, but to explore it all scientifically. Let's see what the results of the test say. With respect to the numbness, if the tests indicate nerve compression that fits perfectly with the anatomy of how the symptoms are playing out, we can give nerve compression more credence as the source. But chronic pain does not correspond to nerve compression anyways. Nerve compression more typically leads to numbness, according to my research and top doctors in the mind body field. Your last statement is probably the most telling to me of all -- and I mean this in an encouraging way. It reads just as doubt always does: I want to believe it is mind body but I have a secret suspicion that it just isn't. That's just a fear. It's not inherent reality. Based on your symptom presentation, the way doubt is operating, and the frequency of such symptoms in mind body experience, the chances are extremely high that it is all mind body and it is highly unlikely that mind body issues just so happen to be happening at the same time as a compressed nerve problem. More to say and I'm happy to talk about it with you, but those are my opening arguments against doubt!

    • @HS-1828
      @HS-1828 День назад

      @ Thank you for your thoughtful reply. Yes, there is so much doubt. Increasing numbness is most concerning, but the pain has become almost unbearable, thus possible medication. I’m trying to last the week, but losing hope. I’ll try to wait on the nerve tests.

      The pain is mind body for sure. That I can pretty much guarantee. But it doesn't matter what I think...only what you think! So let's work on that. Would you like to work with me on this so you don't just have to wait out the pain? There's a lot we can that can often help lessen pain quickly in the work that I do.

      Thanks for reading the book and cheering me on, Rudy! I agree that it's so important that the people in the mind body field come together as much as possible to give a coherent narrative of what's going on and why. Otherwise, doubt has a lot of room to play! I hope my book helps bring down incidences of doubt in the practitioners in the field, too, as that would help sufferers keep their own doubts down so much. I will check out Bonnie Lester. Thanks for bringing her to my attention! Sending you my best, Rudy!

    Depression is definitely a mind body symptom. But one important thing to recognize is that there is a fight or flight response in depression. This doesn't seem to add up. But it does contribute largely to why the depression happens. With sadness and loss the person's reaction is a lower metabolism, lower than resting metabolism and that on its own won't cause depression. However when there is also a stress response then the heart becomes affected. The heart will be getting signals to go slower with sadness and loss. And it will get signals to faster with the stress response. So the heart will be getting signals to go slow then fast then slow again and so on. The net result will be that the heart becomes ineffective as a pump, so the metabolic rate will fall and stay low until the stress response is over. The stress response is not something that is "normal" in these situations, and we can see that because even with severe sadness and massive loss it doesn't necessarily lead to depression. The stress response happens because unfortunately there are some people among us that I would call inhumane. We might call them psychopaths or narcissists etc. They have an agenda. They may affect the person and cause them problem for some reason, or they may do it just for fun. They see the other person's suffering and get a kick out of it. To overcome the problem one needs to appreciate that while there is a threat being made (and one needs to understand the cheats that are used here), the threat is not aimed to be carried out. So if we don't react or react only minimally our heart won't be affected or affected only minimally so the heart will continue to function enough to maintain the required metabolism. And it will function well enough to see variations as for instance the person may feel happy for a short time about something and their heart rate will go up a little bit.

    • @CrushingDoubt
      @CrushingDoubt Месяц назад

      Very interesting ideas about this all. I would be happy to continue the discussion. It's been a while since I watched my own video (this one), but I was curious if there was something in particular in it to which you were responding and wanting to highlight the fight or flight (stress) response. Let me know!

    • @Kyrani99
      @Kyrani99 Месяц назад

      @@CrushingDoubt The fight or flight response can happen and at the same time the person does not recognize that they are reacting to stress. This happens if the threat that is made is concealed. There are conditions that have to be set up first before a threat can be made in a concealed manner. However the big problem for the person is that they feel a higher emotional charge at the same time as some idea is being presented to them mentally. Yes ESP/ telepathy. It requires close relationship. If the person perceives an idea and at the same time feels a higher emotional charge they may mistake their emotional charge as being acceptance or agreement with the idea. A person can be influenced in this way to accept the idea and thus react to it. So for instance, if the ideas indicates some danger, such as an idea that something they just touched or just ate may do damage, then their reaction will ignite the immune system to clear away the damaged cells. But if there is no real damage then the immune response will do damage. And to show you how the very same concealed threat can be used in a vastly different way I will explain to you the love at first sight cheat. In the love at first sight cheat the same threat is used but the idea presented is vastly different. If it is a man that is being influence then the woman that wants to trap him will appear before him and the idea is "Oh isn't she wonderful". If it is a woman then the man who wants to trap her will appear and the idea presented is "isn't he gorgeous". So the person being trapped believes that they are strongly attracted to the person who walks in front of them and they just noticed. It shows how much a person can be affected when they don't know that they are really reacting with a fight or flight response to some danger posed.

    • @CrushingDoubt
      @CrushingDoubt Месяц назад

      I think the most important things you're highlighting here are: 1) how much stress we all experience outside of our awareness; 2) how much our unconscious experience interacts with the unconscious experience of others; and 3) why a sense of danger drives so many mind body symptoms. Once we know the brain (and mind) affects the body profoundly, we can consider all of what that might entail! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    What about meibomian gland dysfunction? I want to believe my dry eyes is mind body but my doctor says oil glands in the eye not functioning properly leads to this

    • @CrushingDoubt
      @CrushingDoubt 2 месяца назад

      That is a common medical diagnosis trying to explain the situation, but it is mind body. Many doctors just don't know about or believe in the mind body process, so they look for the physical effect that explains what is happening. But they are confusing cause and effect. The oil glands don't function properly at those times because of mind body experience, as opposed to suddenly (and randomly) beginning to cause dysfunction. I wish these practitioners believed things make sense more than they do, because they are willing to accept (and spread!) very random theories that stretch all believable thinking once the mind body perspective is even considered. I hope this helps!

      @ I see thank you! Ever since this started my eyes have grown red vessels, I had to drop out of contact lenses and use eye drops throughout the day, if I want to believe it’s mind body should I stop using the drops, wear my contacts and fully believe in mind body, or is there a different approach you recommend?

    • @CrushingDoubt
      @CrushingDoubt 2 месяца назад

      If you feel your belief in the mind body experience is quite strong, I would go ahead and behave as if it is mind body. If you have any experiences that raise your doubt, you can take it a bit slower and work through the doubts. The key is to begin to think of it as a mind body process but to make sure you don't raise your own doubt. If you can proceed with confidence, do it! If you're still not sure, do the cognitive work of asking questions until you feel sure. Come join my Thursday Q&A this week at 6 PM EST or email me through my website, which is listed in this video. There's many ways I can help you have the confidence you need to alter the symptoms effectively, but you're well on your way!

Because that gives them what they want attention attention attention bad attention is fine it’s just the attention they need. I have studied this for years after leaving a narcissist I’m done with that now but I can tell you is a chronic pain suffer and a TMS’er there is nothing worse For you than living or dealing with a narcissist. Don’t let it drag on the only way out is to get out anyway you can and don’t ever look back. Read about it re-search it there’s so much information online and you will see right through them. Don’t argue with them that’s what they want you to do that’s all they get your attention that’s how they know you’re in the game because if you didn’t argue they don’t want you anymore,It’s like oxygen to them. Therapist don’t like working with them because they are pretty much incurable the only ones that occasionally see the light or those that are given A diagnosis of cancer or something where it really takes them down. But even that is unusual my brother was a narcissist and died of cancer it never cured him. Just take care of yourself you will thank yourself later it might be scary to go out especially if your in pain on your own, Live with family rent a room do whatever you need to do. Save yourself he will be fine or she, and go onto the next victim within days or a couple weeks and never look back at you. Until he breaks up with someone and then he might come back because he’s in need of narcissistic supply. Don’t pick up the phone

    I went to a chiropractor for 40 years. He once said theres really not much wrong with your back. At 62 I had excruciating back spasms after experiencing betrayal trauma. I found dr sarnos book and fixed myself in about a month after trying steroids , mri and my dr giving up.

      Thanks for sharing this story, Scotty! It's pretty incredible how many of us have some version of a similar story. The difference between people who read and accept what Sarno had to say versus those who either never hear about his work or can't accept it is a world of difference. I'm glad you got relief!

    What if you’ve had chronic back pain since you were young I never knew everybody else didn’t have pain after a full day at six flags. Used to live in the Midwest. I thought everybody had a searing pain in their back after walking all day. By the time I was 17 and got a job in retail while I was in high school I did realize I don’t think it’s normal that everybody is in the kind of pain I am in from working just six hours in a clothing retail store. I just couldn’t stand That long without my Back hurting I didn’t get all upset about it I don’t even think I told my mom about it why didn’t I I have no idea. Then I threw my back Out when I was away at my university playing tennis my foot slipped in my shoe I was on my knees crawling from Mos a little bit of walking a lot of crawling. I told my mom how bad I was she saw how bad I was I never even heard of the word chiropractor. May because people in the Midwest are a little behind the power curve back in the 80s. She didn’t take me to the doctor she didn’t make a big deal out of it so I didn’t make a big lot big deal out of it I didn’t really worry I knew I was in a lot of pain. And then it got worse when I threw it out again. After graduation I moved to California with my boyfriend and the car ride was miserable for my back. But I didn’t complain I didn’t go to Dr’s I got a job and moved on with my life I was not worrying about it I just knew it wasn’t right. My back continues to hurt to this day and yes I’ve seen many chiropractors I’ve had MRIs I have all of the herniated discs etc. degenerative discs, of course I’m older now but when I was young I only had scoliosis when I did do an MRI at 26. He also said the entire left part of your body is smaller than the right side it’s very unusual I’ve never seen such a thing and he was older. He recommended a shoe left I don’t think I did it. Chiropractors told me no it’s not that it’s just that your hip is out of whack from your scoliosis. So I would get some relief and then of course the pain would come back the less I weigh the better it is,If I gain 5 pounds 6 pounds I really can feel it. So I’m not someone who when I was younger was worried about it yet I had it I wasn’t obsessing about it I didn’t even asked to go to a doctor about it. What do you think about someone like this?

      Hi Linda- I'm sorry you've suffered for so much and for so long (including in not having the help you needed to recognize this wasn't the typical experience). The good news is that your case is no different than any other, in terms of your ability to get better using mind body methods. It doesn't matter how long it has been, whether the onset came from worries about the back or seemingly out of nowhere, or any other factor. As long as it is mind body -- the structural findings they've shared as possible diagnoses have all been shown to have no correlation with pain in the best medical journals in the world -- it is resolvable through my system. Let's talk more about it if you're open to it. You can contact me through my website, which is listed in the description for each of my videos. I would love to help you find relief. Sending you my best, Linda!

    I think whether it’s chronic fatigue syndrome fibromyalgia or Lyme fasting can be amazing.I heard the same story from an elderly guy who was diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer was given a short time to live and he did dry fasting for much longer and he was cured and he has written a very popular book. I don’t recall his name but it’s easy to find if you Google it. He has done RUclips’s with Dr. Eric berg and I’m sure he’s done others.

    Fasting is powerful people even get a lot of benefit from intermittent fasting only eating For 4 to 6 hours in a day and then stopping eating till the next day. Good for her.

      I know many people swear by intermittent fasting. I actually do that myself to some degree. I don't eat until lunchtime and then stop right after dinner. Seems to help with weight gain, especially. But we're all still learning about the various things that can help in so many ways. This was an interesting discussion for me, to say the least.

    New to your work and am absolutely taken with it. Not sure if this question will even be seen by you but the very act of formulating the question feels helpful. Migrating symptoms/full body panic: symptom A is gone today, BUT it'll be replaced with B or C etc. Inevitably, the next day (or week or month later) symptom A is back. I feel releif and confident when a symptom seems to disappear, but then it comes back. And on and on. This is obviously doubt, but I would deeply appreciate your take on this pattern. Very much appreciate you and the community you're helping. 😊😂

    • @CrushingDoubt
      @CrushingDoubt 2 месяца назад

      Thank you for the kind words and I am glad you reached out! That doubt pattern you're identifying is a helpful one to get clearly in your sights. Of course, doubt is using it to convince you the pattern will simply continue, but one way that it won't is if you gain new strategies for the moments you experience. My system has three different ways of dealing with symptoms (I call them the three columns) and many action steps within each. As you noted, even just voicing the doubt helps because now you can fight it in plain sight. I can help you fight doubt more effectively and also help you recognize what causes new onsets and upticks and how to calm them, which would help break the pattern. You can contact me through my website, listed in the description of this episode. I would love to be of further help to you!

    Love this perspective. I do struggle A LOT with doubt. Like there’s something structural. But my test was clear. My question to you..at the beginning of your video you addressed could it be both mind body and structural and I don’t think you answered that, if you did I missed your answer. Thank you!

    • @CrushingDoubt
      @CrushingDoubt 2 месяца назад

      Thanks for watching and I'm glad this perspective resonated! I can't remember what I said in the video at the moment, but I know if I were to answer it (then or now) I would say that structural things all heal. A structural injury or illness can lead to doubt, though, and that is where it could be seen as "both", even though it isn't! Most things are mind body and structural issues tend to resolve quite easily and along expected timeframes of recovery (most within a week to ten days). Let me know if I addressed your question or doubt, but I wouldn't worry much about there being true combined types of symptoms. Anything that lingers without a clear and major medical issue (very rare) is mind body.

      @ thank you. Mine doesn’t refer to “pain”. I have other symptoms such as long covid/POTS. Which I do think are mbs. What’s holding me back is I fear MS but my mri was clear. The symptoms are so similar. That’s what I was meaning. Thank you for replying!

    • @CrushingDoubt
      @CrushingDoubt 2 месяца назад

      Mind body symptoms are so crafty, aren't they? They can use any existing pathways in the body, and they are also meant to be very convincing, so it's very easy to have doubt and worry. But nearly everything is mind body and given your other symptoms, it's a slam dunk that it all is. I'm happy to talk more, though, if I can be of help. You can find my website in the description of this video and contact me there as needed. Sending you my best!

    It’s not a matter of thinking about symptoms. It’s FEELING them! I’m not thinking about pain and congestion. IIT HURTS. I have to clear my head all day. If l ignore it l can’t breathe. Tell me how to ignore agony

      @CrushingDoubt 2 месяца назад

      There's absolutely no way to ignore agony. I've been there and I know you can't think of anything else when in such pain. What you most need is actual symptom relief. My system organizes how to stop agony, not how to ignore it. I would love to talk further about this and I'm certain I can help you if you want to give it a try. You can contact me at the website in the description for this video. Or let me know what you think here. Hang in there. We can get you relief. Sending you my best.

      @CrushingDoubt 2 месяца назад

      I find it often helps to hear others recognize and talk about the very issue you're having, so I try to bring up specifics quite often (and across a widespread amount of symptoms). Sounds like this was encouraging to at least hear about, The next step, as you noted, would be to do the doubt column work so you can be convinced this is a mind body experience and nothing else. After that, we can go looking for the emotional cause. I'm here and ready to work with you as needed!

      Rita is fantastic. Glad you've got doubt work on your mind as you push back against symptoms. Symptoms will indeed try to drag you back in. I find the columns help me stay organized to understand each symptom moment so I know the quickest route to relief at each moment. Let me know if I can be of further help. My book comes out January 8, 2025, as well, so hopefully that can be a resource to understand the different mind body moments.

      Same column! Fear is the emotional form of doubt. Question whether the fear is warranted, get it articulated, and we can bring the fear down with a good handle on it.

      Hi Ellie- There are many ways I can help with this. My book is coming out in late November or early December and will certainly have that information, but there are two other resources that can help: 1) On my website (search Crushing Doubt), I have mind body guides and the Three Columns Guide provides direct instructions for all three columns, including the power column; and 2) I have a power column group where I can help you directly on it all in a cost effective way. I also have live Q&As most Thursdays (not tonight, but next week) where you can begin to get these questions answered. You can contact me through my website, as well, for us to discuss these options. Let me know what you think!

      Ouch. Just terrible. Parents need to assume behavior comes from somewhere and work to understand it, instead of judging it. Often, the behavior comes from the parent, themselves!
