Can I go faster on Mags or Cheetahs?
Venom went a long way since the Shockers
i think stating you're 6 7 should be done in beginning. Giving the feedback about the foot not feeling locked in and waiting until the end to state you're way taller then average is misleading.
Fair point, but also, I have a really short stance for my size. I can comfortably ride all my friends boards that are WAY shorter than me. My personal DH and freeride boards use wheelbases from 20” to 22” so I expected the length of this deck to feel very natural to me
Bought them. Love them. Do you need speedrings on these trucks?
I’m glad you enjoy them. Speedrings are not necessary in most modern trucks
would not have bought them if it wasnt for your awesome review. Thanks for the quik answer🔥
You'll probably have the coolest LB company one day; appreciate your vids, and intellect.
This is one of my favorite comments ever, thank you so much
They are excellent thane like Biggie Hawgs, Path Boyz Price & Consistence so good, thanx Owen for review, thanx Muir Skate for that Wheels, greetings from Costa Rica Homie 🏁
Just want to say that without Phat Deanz (namely Specterz), Podiums wouldn't exist. They went under and lots of the guys who worked at Muir loved their wheels, so Muir basically picked up where they left off. Shoutout Phat Deanz.
I’ve always wanted a set of Phat Deanz. I’m still looking
@@owencampbell777 if you’ve ridden any of the big core Muir wheels you’ve basically ridden phat deanz, with some minor discrepancies from the urethane being a different color and some minor size changes. Otherwise I’m fairly sure it’s the same wheels
@@StevenGill1002 There were tons of wheels that shared that shape and core I think Phat Deanz Specterz, Biggie Hawgs, Sugar Cubes, Free Loaders, Cloud Ride Stormchasers, Muirskate Podiums, and AHMYO Pranas All were 73mm x 66mm. I swear there might be a couple more, but it was a while ago so idk
Ah man how could I forget about Phat Deanz. I recall the Moustache RideZ(?) were like the first freeride wheel to use that core, just before Volante Morgans. Both Clutch and Deanz did a lot to innovate and just aren't appreciated enough in hindsight.
@@stevensutin2789 i cant speak for any of those wheels but i'm pretty sure specterz and podiums are also the same urethane too
I brought freshies to Maryhill, came home and still have plenty of life left in the wheel great purchase for sure
IMO , Podiums are better than Mags...said it
Do you actually think that or just for the value? I used some phat boyz earlier this summer and they were great, smooth slide but when they were new they slowed me down quickly. I'm now on some Blackops Alphas but i have some (scrubbed) mags i haven't used yet.
@@pbskater3 I did testing on podiums vs mags. Used a speed trap, ran exact same lines on a perfectly smooth road @2mile all grip course. The mag is larger by 3mm than the podium and uses a 75a vs mags 74a. The podium consistently was faster accelerating, as well as provided better grip. I say that as the mag is offset so less surface from the bearing inward, and yes I tried flipped. Flipped the mags improved but a center set is just so evenly predictable. I ran dozens of runs at 50mph with variances of @1mph. This was backed up by we ran a race on the same course, I ran podiums and gave a fresh set to another rider...we both trapped at 50mph and 49mph so it was not just my riding. The mags may have just a bit more height, but the 2mm wider causes more drag...and have less grip unflipped. The mags are stupid expensive, so you can get 2 -2.5 sets of podiums for the same price. As Zach has always been tight with Madrid, and there is a connection between Madrid and Muirskate (old Muir) from what I understand....I really wonder if Venom and Podiums are the same compound. Just my opinion though, so it may be trash brother!!
Spiritually, I agree
The much cheaper cost in itself could be a great benefit to a racer. If you've only got the budget for maybe 1 set of freshie mags (or other $100 wheels) for a race, having an additional fresh set to use for later heats could help tremendously.
Hope you have a great day too Owen. Always love your reviews and did watch that one!

Love you vids! Was great meeting you at soldiers bro keep up the good work.
Based on Owen's review from years before, I skated Maryhill two days straight on a single set of fresh Podiums and they were great! They really are one of the best price to performance big wheel out there right now.
Always love the reviews, review the a1s please
Will do!
The shape these use is similar to other wheels which were also great. Sugar Urethane 'Cubes' , the 73mm Biggie Hawgs, Free Wheel Co 'Loaders' and Bustin Sniper Rs were all solid performers and made in the same factory as these. I'm disappointed Biggie Hawgs were discontinued, because I share similar sentiments about those. I've not tried these yet, but your testimonial is extremely compelling and they'll probably be my next wheels.

Hell yeah, thanks! I love that shirt :) he was always my fav driver since I was little
Using them on Bear Gen 6, they allow you to throw away plug barrel bushing and use regular bushings. You now have access to a much bigger choice of bushings. It also transforms the truck leaning and behavior. There is a kind of spherical bearing feeling. Truck is more accurate and lively while remaining stable with the good bushings set up. Definitely a need upgrade for cast trucks
I mounted my Zenit Draft with a pair of Valkyrie Voxter MK3.5 DH trucks in 160-170mm. I ride 170mm wide. These trucks are really exceptionnal. They remind me of old JimZ trucks back in the early 2000 s but with the stability of the old Magun precision trucks. But they have so much more lean than old precision trucks. Tall barrel bushings are just a revolution. And this double kind of kingpin is brilliant and genius. I am an old downhiller of 40 years, started in 1999 at 15 years old, and downhill longboarding is so much wild and better now when I see how everything improved !!
I'd say try the 155s. I've ridden both and the wider ones stick out as a stellar truck
How fast were you going for the slide at 0:47 ? You were sliding so far!
Maybe 25mph

Stoked on the review! Appreciate all the feedback and insights! Definitely not made with 6’7” skaters in mind 🤦♂️ but hyped to see you adapting to the small stance and giving it an honest review, these in depth takes are always so appreciated! Designers can get pretty quickly disconnected from practicality (myself included) so these reviews really help to ground and give future direction. Stoked dude, can’t wait for future reviews from you!
yeah would've been nice to know he was NBA tall before hearing about the akward foot placement haha no shit it's akward you're 6 7 haha
Rigging this deck onto a tynee mini 3 pro e board setup, useful review thanks
Dude I just found your channel, where have you been all my life!!! Your helping me out heaps moving from long distance to downhill
Black matter grip Best..
Djerbas are definetly not done in bad taste I know the guy that makes them and he has put a lot of work and love into the project. What I think is bad taste is trucks that cost over $1,000 and that are not accessible to the vast majority of skaters with out having to sell an arm and a testical on the black market
I don’t think products have to be accessible to be “in good taste.” If people can afford it and they want it, they’re gonna buy it. Not everything needs to be made for everyone. I’m sure the Djerba dude put a lot of time and effort into it, I personally just value innovation
Personally I think if something is worth emulating, it's probably the right direction technologically. I don't think people were up in arms when Randal adopted the RKP design of the Gullwing Phoenix and made it much cheaper and accessible, because now RKP is the standard for downhill. Rojas could solve the pricing woes by just bringing back the sub-$200 Hybrids they used to offer and essentially built their reputation off of. There's more to a business than just innovating a cool product imo, it has to be priced competitively to widely proliferate the market.
Dope review. And thats an awesome looking deck. Hyped that you gave it to someone. I have done that with my younger cousin. But i will say i have done something to make my stance smaller. Not intentionally, but one of my favorite boards is the landyachtz obsidian and that helped. But i also skated a rayne mini for like a month. Was fun not gonna lie. Had mk2 slalom valks on it. But made my stance smaller after i switched back to a regular board. Was a fun experiment. Honestly did it so i could learn to slide without grabbing rail. Did succeed in that or at least heelside.
can i submit mine
Post it on wrongboarding
Hahah made it in a minute 😈
I so wonder what you wonder of my cruiser/ freeride board. Landyachtz Schooner Sin Wave. Ace 155 tkps for small round lipped wheels. And ace 133 for bigger square lipped wheels. Will post on that page and not not my normal dh setup.
Yes, post it on wrongboarding!
8:38 I think you still need wheel flares to stay locked in on heelsides, especially if the deck has camber. I believe that it is also why Bumpy added a foam piece under his toes on his setup. But for your heel, camber makes so much more sense than rocker. I've always preferred flatter boards. With too much rocker I feel like it's harder to turn on toeside corners. Not marginally harder, but still Also, I find it easier to keep my weight in front of the board with a flat deck 9:50 Looks like risers to compensate for the drops on the front bolts
only reason i like when the wheels aren't poking out the board is because I have kicked my wheels so many times and ate shit XD
Timestamp 29:10+ you discuss wheelbase length, but Paris and Ronin aren't as 'short' as you reference (1"), and DH Cybins aren't as 'long' as you reference (2.75") In actuality, both Ronin and Paris add 1.75" from bolts to axles and DH Cybins only add 2.125". So, a total difference of +3\8" which, although agreeably longer, is fairly negligent. (For ref: both my Ronins and DH Cybins are at 50⁰\20⁰, and the Paris are at 50⁰\50⁰ - but even if Paris had a 20⁰ baseplate, it wouldn't subtract maybe max .25" from it) (Note: I only looked into this because a friend said he'd quote: "Never buy DT trucks because they add so much more to the WB!" and referenced this video)
Sam definitely deserved getting called out for that betrayal

Your comment about cast calibers made in a different machine is tripping me out. 😳 the Graphic was repainted with similar colors, an art project while I was bricked. The board is 10 ply, and also possibly 12 years old? I bought it second hand at a bargain basement. Also I like calibers without inserts. 😂 Not sure if I’m worried about flex with 10 plys, I also drilled a hole through the board for a weight I don’t use, I guess we’ll find out if it’s flexy at Soldiers.
@@derowmediataskforce same with the riviera: both boards are from pre-composite era, both thick af. Comparable to sector pinups or dd in terms of durability and stiffness
