This looks like backwards elimination method not stepwise selection
Excellent video to get past Excel's default limitations
Why did you choose 0.8 for the conditional formatting? how do we know what value to choose for our data set?
This is up to the researcher. Statisticians have considered 0.8, 0.9, and even 0.67 depending on the extent they want to reduce the model varaince.
Sorry but there is no voice
Your computer volume might be down. I checked the voice, it is working
Thanks. For categorical data, see 6:14.
Very good show/explanations on how to do stepwise regression with excel, so helpful. Thanks.
In 9.46 second... The P value of car was 0.66 but P value of Mile to resort was 3.889... Why did you remove Car instead of mile to resort?
P value is always between 0 and 1. The mile to base p-value is 3.9E-05 which is 3.9 divided by 100000, or 0.000039.
Thank you for uploading this sir! Very much appreciated!
You told that this is backward selection, then whats the difference between backward selection and this backward stepwise sir?
The process here is backward stepwise. We select variables for removal during the process based on their p-value but everything is within the process os backward stepwise regression
if there is high correlation, but both VIF is low (about 3) would you still have remove one?
That sounds impossible but yes, high correlation will create unstable variance and we should remove one of the pair of variables that show high correlation. High correlation will generate high R-square, so the denominator of the VIF ratio will be a small number, pushing up the VIF.
Thank you very much for this clear demonstration. It helps me tremendously for my master thesis! Good day to you
for backward selection do you do the same
The process I explained here is backward stepwise. There is forward stepwise regression as well, a different process. The results are usually identical, sometimes different!
@@majidnabavi4465 do you have a tutorial for forward stepwise regression? Better still using Statistica?
Ivfy Foong I don’t have that tutorial in Excel because the process is rather lengthy. Better to use a dedicated statistical software for it if the project is that sensitive to need both backward and forward stepwise regression.
That's not a Histogram, that's creating a count data first then making a bar chart. Why can't the histogram chart used directly? Is it an Excel bug?
Histogram is a column chart of frequency. I used the Excel tool for numeric data but The count and column chart is used for categorical data. Excel histogram tool works for numbers only, not for strings.
Majid Nabavi so it is an Excel bug :(
@@majidnabavi4465 You can select bar chart first, then click on the bars to go to formatting, and make the gap width 0%.
