Hidden in the sand: Written by Joe Hawley (Red tie) The last (not counting bonus tracks) and hidden track of TallyHalls debut album: “Marvins Marvelous Mechanical Museum” which was released in 2005, and re-released on April Fools Day of 2008. What’s so great about this song is that it’s not like the other tracks, rather than having all the instruments join together, it’s just the main vocals (Joe Hawley) the harmonies (Rob Cantor, Zubin Sedghi, Andrew Horowitz and Ross Federman (I think), a ukulele and the ocean waves. The music video for this song depicts a boat, the captain and crew begin singing and everyone starts dancing, but a bird pecks into the ship, long story short, everyone turns on each other and dies, except the captain, who plays his song until the end, calmly succumbing to death. Afterwards, the bird says a reverse message, when translated it says “wouldn’t the world be better off if we took nonsense more seriously?” Which is a quote said by Marvin Yagoda, founder of Marvin’s Marvelous Mechanical Museum (the place, not the album) The band made another album called “Good & Evil” which has more mature/serious songs compared to MMMM, this album was released in 2011, along with an indefinite hiatus from TallyHall in the same year. Although Rob, Joe & Andrew still make music, Zubin and Ross went back to college and are both currently in the medical field.
