how do you complain about plastic and be so fit but to lazy to cut your own food down and save on plastic, typical hypocrytes you live where fruits grow everywhere, stop supporting corporate stores and buy local
Hi Ryan, thanks for your thoughts. We appreciate that you advocate for less plastic use and supporting local, we agree that we should all make more mindful choices. We do find plastic use is very high here and we’ve found ourselves using more than we’d like at times, it’s something we want to work on. We also do shop at our local markets whenever we can. Right now though while we are building, we’re working with a super small temporary kitchen, so prepping food is tricky, and sometimes the big grocery stores are more convenient having all the other essential household items. We’re definitely not perfect, but we’re trying our best. Once we have a proper kitchen set up, the plan is to buy in bulk from our local markets and we are also planting plenty of our own fruit and vegetables. We’re always working on doing better and sustainability will be a big focus for us.
You have such a nice house with lovely scenery! We love daily vlogs like this showing the different eateries, coffee shops, and other establishments around Bohol. Alona Beach is developing so much and is always a great place to spend the day. Just leave early with a cup of coffee and some relaxing music for a wonderful drive to Panglao. Thanks for sharing daily life in Bohol.
Thank you so much, it means a lot to hear your kind words. We are thinking to show more vlogs of us visiting different venues around Bohol, we like the idea of early morning takeaway coffee and music for the car ride! Thank you for the suggestion :)
Lovving the new haircut Josh
Haha thanks mate 👍
Hi! Where is t in bohol? ❤❤❤
I highly recommend this book the light of Iman available on Amazon and Apple books
Beautiful bamboo fence..it was neatly done. I am a Filipina but the bread in the Philippines is too sweet now for me like sugar is in every piece of it. If I live there one day I would go for rootcrops, banana or corn or make my own seeded bread.
Thank you so much! Yes all the bread is too sweet here! We agree, we actually just bought a bread maker so we can make our own gluten free bread :)
Bridget......He looks like he's fresh out of jail. 🤣
🤣 do we agree
he's a hottie!!!
hey guys
🙌
It is reassuring to note that your residence in Bohol is constructed from concrete, providing resilience against storms and typhoons in the Philippines, especially considering that traditional building materials used for homes and resorts are often vulnerable to the destructive forces of typhoon surges. Coco lumber lacks durability, particularly when subjected to moisture, as it is prone to rotting and termite infestations. It is also crucial to select the appropriate type of wood.
Thanks for your comment! Yes our buildings we made sure are built strong, we are still learning about coconut lumber and hearing everyone’s advice we will be sourcing different wood in the future, we have used solignum on all coconut timber to get some longer life 👍
Make sure to cover the bamboo on the top, so no water can go in.
Thanks for the comment! The bamboo pieces are flat (not whole bamboo) we got them in slats so luckily no water can get in :)
👍nice place
Thanks heaps!! :)
Spray that fence all down and the support coco lumber with neem oil one good soak and you can save it for years. "sustainenvironres.biomedcentral" <-- google this and you can learn how to make your own and use it. or buy some, that was a lot of work to waste on a fence that will last less than a year before deteriorating. ..
Thanks for the advice, appreciate it! We actually have a big bottle of neem oil around so we will do that and get some more. Definitely would want longer than a year out of it if we can
wow your concrete guy was actually smoothing the top with a trowel ! maybe even putting a finish on it ! most times they just dump the concrete in the forms and however the surface comes out thats how it stays! bumpy and rough as hell. you must have found an ''expert'' LOL
Haha we teach our boys, John and I have a bit of experience and knowledge in building and landscaping so it definitely helps but we’re lucky with him he is good with detail and finishing
Great progress folks. Every villa/resort needs a swing 👍🏻
Thanks a lot! Very true, gives vacation vibes 🙌
Keep an eye on termites which is common in the countr. Treat all wooden materials against these pests. They destroyed parts of my childhood home.
Oh that’s sad! They are a pest. Thanks for the reminder, we’ve tried to use solignum on all the timber and a few traps
Looks like Josh keeps himself in good fit condition, would be good if he does videos on his workout and maybe a run down on his health outlook and workout lifelstyle in the Philippines... does he eat alot of rice...perhaps even about his diet...would be interesting. Good onya guys, your place is coming along...hard work though I reckon but your doing it the right way, nice and easy..I'll be wanting to do a similar project in Siargao. Also if your interested in real estate in Siargao, I'm selling a 3-4 hectare dream real estate in Siargao. Hit me up if your interested...I'll give you a bargain...perfect place for a resort, tourist booming Siargao Island.
Thanks a lot for the comment! I can definitely show more on this, we always forget to show our meals or speak about our health - funny because it’s actually something really important in our life. I do eat quite a lot of rice, mainly because I have a gluten allergy and I can’t eat bread or anything with flour (keeps me healthy though) but Bridget also cooks me a lot of gluten free recipes for pancakes, bread, cakes etc. We both stay away from refined sugar and use alternatives like stevia, coconut sugar and muscovado. I drink a lot of matcha these days instead of coffee and we only eat chicken, eggs, fish, beans as our protein and try to add different vegetables and fruits. That would be awesome, siargao would be a great island for it. We’ve still got a long way to go with this project and our plans for it but maybe one day we could look at the possibility of siargao 👍
@@Bridgeandjosh Good onya replacing coffee, its really bad for the liver and your food replacmenst alternatives are great. Keep up the great work guys, and hit me up if in the future when your ready to expand in Siargao. I see Philippines economy improving so I think your in the right place at the right time, things will get expensive there in the next 5-10 years I would think as tourism grows and a great demand for development and business. Good onya. ❤❤👌
Hi guys! Been following for a while now. The walls look awesome! I was just admiring the curved stucco look of the wall where that front door is going to be. Please tell us more about it. I'm sure you've talked about it in previous videos or i just haven't noticed. Is it just rendered with a curve to it then painted? I'm doing research on a realistic ways of achieving nice concrete finishes when we finally start building our farm resort near Tagaytay in Cavite. Hope to visit your resort someday when it opens. You guys are doing an amazing job! Congrats!
Thanks so much for following along and your kind words!! We would love to see you here one day. We’ve only showed a few clips of the curve but happy to explain how we did it, we will try and show more when we do another curved wall. We started off with square beams and then we used a grinder to grind the edges down then render to make it more round, then painted it. Hopefully that makes sense :)
@ yes! It actually does!!! Thanks so much!
Your grand staircase 👍👍 However , I don't think your {coconut wood frame} for the bamboo fence will last long. That wood disintegrates rapidly.
It’s been a journey with the staircase, thank god it’s finished just needs some rendering. Yeah I thought that, we didn’t really plan for the bamboo fence to be a long term thing. We just wanted to get something up quick and cheap to give some privacy, we’re sure there’s a few areas that will need an upgrade down the track
spray that fence all down and the support coco lumber with neem oil one good soak and you can save it for years. "sustainenvironres.biomedcentral" <-- google this and you can learn how to make your own and use it. or buy some, that was a lot of work to waste on a fence that will last less than a year before deteriorating.
Great progress…
Thanks a lot!
contruction there like i went back 30 years but its more sturdy than any modern homes in the west.
Yeah you’re right! The amount of blocks, ribar and cement that goes into our buildings they aren’t going anywhere haha
Sadly rainy season this of the time. Everytime i have something done. I do them during summer months from March to May
Yes that’s very smart it’s not fun in the rain but atleast it cools the weather down 😅
Guys try the agave plants if you have them in Bohol. I have them in my house in Davao - they are beautiful plants. Love your choices as they are minimal maintenance
Yesss agave are the type of plants we were looking for! Love the look of them especially big ones, we got a few little ones but not many stalls were open that day :(
Josh is fit - well done guys.
Thank you, I always try to make time for exercise even how tired I am 😂
Beautiful couple
Great Video. We hope you all get better soon.
Thank you!! We are feeling much better now after a good few days rest. We are ready to get back into things 🫶
I love to know how you accomplished this dream , How do you pay you bills????? yt5hank you in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the comment! We own a marketing/social media agency in Australia, we offer businesses support with their online presence, we also have an ecommerce store selling hats and accessories online. We will talk more about it if people are interested :)
Looking great guys- well done to all your hardwork. Love from London, UK
Thank you! Means a lot, glad to have you here watching for uk!! 😊
Hope Bridget feels better. Great updates. 👍🏼❤️
Thank you! I’m feeling much better now, ready to keep going and leave bed 😆
gud pm guys
Probably won't have any dirt left.......but the boys won't love moving it lol.
Haha yeah it’s definitely getting smaller the dirt pile and I would love to buy a bob cat to help the boys out :)
NIPPON FLEXISEAL ELASTOMERIC WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE I've heard is the best ( but expensive )..... City Hardware.
Thanks so much I will look into that product 👍👍
Looking great 🙌 thanks for taking us with you on your journey!
👍👍
Great job, wish you guys all the best.
The very best of luck 🤞
Thank you!! 😊
Wow! It even looks much better now. Really enjoyed this building update. Almost done.👍🏼❤️
Thank you! We love this part but we are also looking forward to moving onto the next stage :)
Looking good guys - so much progress - love the pavers and plant tropical forest look fpr the surrounding
Thanks Jack! We’re pretty happy with how they turned out, yeah we need to do a lot more planting especially with all the rain is peak time
Great Video and great progress. I don't do snakes too well. One thing I am concerned about there
Thank you! Yes they say more cats will keep them away
May I ask what the sealant you are using is called?
Yes absolutely we use Davies rubber floor coating in clear, it has great stain resistance, looks really nice and very easy to clean but we wouldn’t recommend it if you are looking for something very durable. This was our biggest challenge to find something both stain resistant and then also chip resistant. If you drop something sharp and heavy it can chip, we did use white skim coat underneath in case this did happen so the chip isn’t too obvious. We also used it with a reducer as it is quite thick and be sure to use a foam roller as a normal roller will cause fibers to be stuck in your floor. Hope this helps 👍
Nice concept by the way you build your Villa. We will have our home build in Bohol maybe in 3 yrs time as we don’t have time at the moment yet. Continue updating us…😊
Thank you very much, oh that is very exciting for you. Where are you thinking to build in Bohol?
@@Bridgeandjosh we have two parcels of land in Duero. One is beach front and the other is ocean view. I know you guys are somewhere in Sikatuna, right?
Yes, oh that sounds amazing - ocean is always nice. We would love a place on the beach one day
Hey Josh I don’t think you get upset by a little critic. Your videos will have better quality if you move your camera slowly with passion. It‘s quite pain in the eyes with all the quick movements. A little consideration to your viewers would be nice. 😉
Thanks for letting me know! Sometimes I don’t realise so it is good to know, I am always in a rush and thinking of many things at a time but I will definitely try to move slower 😆
@@Bridgeandjosh a tripod would do😊
Your build is very nice. When will your Airbnb be ready. Planning to be in Bohol February or March 2025
@@Beachbuko thanks a lot, we are hoping by the end of this year. The main thing we are waiting on is for our power to be upgraded so it can support all the rooms. We will let you know, we’d love to host you 😊
Hello, I’m new to your vlogs. So…. My ??????’s Which episode details HOW you were able to purchase land and building for the purpose of a business??? being not a Philippino that is. 🙏 thank u
Hi there, thanks for the question. We don’t have a video that specially explains it, Bridget and her mum are Filipino
Josh is so fit though 😊- what a lovely couple
Oh thanks a lot- that’s so kind. I do my best to stay fit, it’s a bit hard without a gym here but really helps me mentally to exercise regularly
Good progress indeed. Excited to watch your next progress. 👍🏼❤️
Thanks a lot! Nearly finished this section so we will do a proper walk through soon 😊
Mornin guys
😂 Josh’s favourite words
nice job👏👏 boys❤😊
🙌👏👏
Great Video once again. Did you send some tools from Australia to Philippines in advance? Or did you purchase them there?
Thanks a lot! we did send quite a few tools from Australia, wish we had more. We sent a few boxes with LBC everytime we go back
@@Bridgeandjosh Thanks for that. Yea. We think we will do the same eventually
Good progress. Excited to watch the next episode. 👍🏼❤️
Thank you! We hope to show more of our lifestyle on the vlogs soon, our day to day routine
Great progress. Those little details are all about creating a stunning project. 👏🏻👏🏻
Yes we’re loving the look that the bamboo and cogon grass is giving the place 🌴
Nice house u got there
Thanks a lot!
