Tarheel Sun 1998 - Stan Kenton Suite DCI Drum Corps
Просмотров 6 тыс.14 лет назад
1998 Quarter-finals performance of Tarheel Sun. This propelled them from DCI Division II to Division I. Tarheel Sun folded after it's 2000 season due to financial concerns, but they left a huge mark on the Drum & Bugle Corps world. It's members went on to be members of DCI championship winning Drum Corps, the musical production Blast!, and even toured with the likes of James Brown. This product...
RIP Terry Holland 🏴☠️🏴☠️🏴☠️
I marched Tarheel Sun 98 and 99. 98 was by far the best outta the 2. We really had this chemistry- this unusual electrifying chemistry. I miss y’all so much thanks for the memories!
R.i.p Coach
A week after beating Virginia tech 👏👏👏
Anyone have Tarheel Sun from 1999? I loved their “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me”. I recorded it on CASSETTE tape in Bowling Green, KY that year.
I wish we had the 99 show somewhere! I loved the the opener as well!
This show is so good. Only if they had a better visual coordinator it would've been even better.
That was one hell of a summer! Still proud of what we accomplished
Saw them in New Jersey at an boutique evening drum corps show I think in Belleville. Cadets was the open class corps St John's was there Raiders Jersey surf 3 alumni corps I marched Wynn Center Toppers alumni. I was blown away by this corps seeing & hearing them! Then I got a bump upside my head when I was told they were competing in this particular show as class A corps with over 120 members, a mind blower still.
Division II (A class) was pretty remarkably solid In the 90's. Les Etoiles (96) Nite Express (96) Dimension (96) such great smaller esk corps
Now here's another drum corps other than the Blue Devils that's influenced by jazz, and it's happening right here in North Carolina. Sad to hear that they folded after five short years. This show was awesome, nonetheless.
lmao I hated this shit soooo much. Wasnt too bad after we realized after the next few games that we werent that good without Slaton
Ecu lost their best defensive player the next week for his career. We won the conference but were not the same team after that
That was an amazing summer. Undefeated for nearly the entire season. And this is the biased father of one of the baritone players, but I thought the show, musically, was more enjoyable than anything I heard in Division 1 just last season. Not as technically challenging, you understand, but more enjoyable. The incredible balance of dynamics, matched with simply beautiful arrangements of timeless pieces, made this one very special show!!!
GREAT DRUM CORPS. X SUNRISES DRUM &BUGLE CORPS
Tarheel was so 80's Dutch Boy. good color Guard ( not dutch boys those ladies were on thier own) and good brass and what the folks wanted to hear. there is something to say for this classy las vegas style ... it does something ...
Christopher Cook Same brass arranger as Dutch Boy if I recall.
@@briantuma1502 Al DiCrose? (Sp?) But yeah, give a listen to 1989 Dutch Boy and it is phrased quite similar. Different music but the style is unforgivably the same!
That's the loudest game I've EVER been to
though they competed in Division 2, they were really a solid Division 1 corps.
They hooked a style that wasn't theirs... please research Dutch Boy. Sad you were sold on something that already happened 😕
Terry Holland should be given full credit for the original idea.

Love you guys and miss you all... Thank you for one of the BEST experiences of my life! 😆😘
Dee here: so proud of this performance and this corp. I miss all of you. This show still gives me goosebumps :)
Isn't Glennon the new bucs qb?
ECU beat VT and WVU in the same year, unbelievable!
ECU held that high-powered WVU offense to 124 yards and forced 3 TO's! Also they beat VT the same year on a kick return
No, Bill Stewart did lol
@@JacksonPM23 ECU fan, but I agree. Rich Rodriguez turned West Virginia's offense lethal with the spread option. Stewart decided to neuter it going to a more traditional dropback passing scheme.
Onward to victory
Fuck you
Go Pirates Go!
Did NOT know Vince McMahon was a fellow ECU grad! I was there in person that day, a great game to be a part of! Go Pirates
Robert Jones, Jeff Blake, David Garrard, Dwayne Harris, CJ Wilson, Linvale Joseph, Vonta Leach...
One of his arms is a lot longer than the other haha
Fuck ECU,The only thing the school has to show for itself is Chris Johnson
DITMAS EAGLE being a fan of neither team, that's a very weak response from an obvious hokie. Great job ECU!
DITMAS EAGLE FUCK YOU
maybe against them, but we beat y'all when yall were 8th in the nation. Yall are just too scared to come back down here to Dowdy
Stay classy wvufan... Oh wait, that's a paradox. Look it up in the dictionary, I don't have time to explain it here.

Goosebumps man! This Corp had such an unusually great chemistry and you can really feel it. I still remember singing November Song with the Baritone section we learned all the words in eerie PA and started singing it together the rest of the Summer. I would kill for that recording of us singing! Anyway I love you guys. I'll never forget that Summer
Wes! I totally remember that! =D
dammit i was expecting Adrenaline Mob...
'Bout time somebody reposted this. Good ol' T.J. Lee.
My Boy 🙏🏾
That's me at 4:29, after Tommy who is after Nick! Wahoo! And me at 6:54 behind Tommy who is behind Nick! And then I'm next to Drew around the 10 minute mark.
im just wondering was Carolina Gold (a DCA band) from these members? because they were from the same place and started in 2000?
What is a DCI band? Seriously though? These guys are on G bugles?
Man i miss this corp! It will always be the best part of my life.
