Claire Carey of Dance for Joy! demonstrates the Chaine turn which we use in most of our Cross-step Waltz moves. This turn allows for more control and smoother transitions. She also is demonstrating spotting which refines direction and reconnection with your partner.

Thanks for the demo. It will be fun to learn the individual figures. Cross waltz is a relaxed fun version as compared to the more technical versions.

At the start of this demo, for the lead, the one count is done with the left foot. Around 2:20, the remainder of the demo has the lead hitting the one count with the right foot. Was this intentional? Does the lead foot change in cross-step waltz?
No, it always begins in a basic with the lead R, Follows L.

Probably the best Zydeco lesson I’ve seen. Lots of tips naming the intricacies I’ve observed of great dancers, but I have trouble picking up. Anxious to try them out, soon!

So glad you enjoyed it! The steps are important for sure, but the connection in Zydeco is supreme. But it definitely does benefit from bending and straightening the knee as in salsa for movement. Cheers!
