Yay for steeking! I tried it for the first time in October and have steeked 3 sweaters since, i'll never knit colorwork flat again 😅 it's honestly super easy and so much fun, can't wait to hear what your experience is with it! Loving seeing NYS&W through a newbies eyes. 😊 I always bring cash as a budgeting technique. However much I bring is theoretically my yarn and unspun fiber budget. I allow myself to purchase tools and food with credit cards.

Never had a problem bringing in a personal water bottle. We've never tried to bring in a can of soda.

I’m so happy to find a vegan knitter! I’m not vegan, but I try to use mostly vegan yarns however that’s always been exclusively plant based yarns which like you said are definitely more expensive. Especially when you buy hand dyed 😅 only this winter have I actually started thinking about using acrylic. Idk why, but it seems taboo in the yarn world so I never really thought about it but it opens up so many possibilities!! I don’t think I’ve actually LOVED any of the yarns I’ve used. Plant based yarns are often splitty and harder on the hands. I just assumed I had to put up with it lol. As a result of them being so expensive most of the things I’ve knit are super cropped and I just don’t always wear them that much. That being said I do really like the Vegan Yarn Alibrigo (or something like that) yarn. I knit a ripple crop top by jessie mae out of it and it’s so cute!

As a crocheter that has made a few wearables for people I can agree it’s hard to get sizing right and after a wow you feel like your burdening them to send sizing or things on.

I knit with cotton and acrylic yarn, my family is allergic to wools, so have to use bamboo, cotton and acrylics,. Plus for gifts is is good to stick with washables. Socks have worked up fine in cotton and acrylic Mary Maxim yarns.

First time viewer from Calif. Is love to go to Rhinebeck but it's so far, so I'm living vicariously through your video. For showing off your haul in the future you need a good light in front of you. Say with you facing the window instead of having it behind you. The way you filmed this leaves your items backlit and hard to see. Loved your basket and I made the Moon Set tee this summer. It was a fun knit and you looked great in yours.

I am also in New Hamoshire, so good to see your podcasts. I do use a lot of cotton and acrylic because my family has allergies to wools. And 30$ for one skein of wool does not fit in my budget, I am retired on SS. I knit every day so acrylic works better for me. Plus, wash and dry is easier for family.

I am continental knitter, grandmother taught me in this way 😅 I guess it is logical, since we are from Lithuania, which is on the continent 😂 I am good at tentioning yarn while knitting, but cannot find comfortable way to purl quickly, need to learn or find my "intuitive" way. I don't remember yarn tentioning as grandmother showed me. I was an impatient kid and didn't listen for too long 😅

I am an English knitter, but I don't drop my needle. That seems really tedious. I didn't know some did that until I started watching knitting podcasts. I throw with my right index finger and it is pretty fast. I thought about learning continental, but continental knitters seem to have more tension issues and my stitches are always super even (I am a 'tight' knitter which I think is more common with English style knitters). My grandma taught me and she was an English style knitter. I may learn continental just for colorwork.
