It's very highly unlikely that you would find a 1955 doubled die cent in a mint set. Most, if not all, of them were discovered in New England in packs of cigarettes bought from vending machines. A pack of cigarettes cost 48¢ back then. Because vending machines weren't set up to return 2¢ change, two pennies were inserted in the pack so when you inserted two quarters or a half dollar, the change was included inside the cellophane packaging. Interesting find on the S mintmark on the dime.

The reason there is two of each coin is so that you can view the obverse and reverse of each mint. Otherwise, you would have to pop the coin/s out of the holder.

I have sealed sets from the early 50’s on up to present day. I don’t plan on opening them, but this was cool seeing what they look like! Thanks.

It's a double mint set. There are two of each coin. The Mint used to be very slow in getting proof, and Mint set out. The delivery date of April 13, 1956, for a 1955 set is just how they delivered back then.

If your having issues figuring out why it’s a 62 to me it’s very clear the obverse is very very baggy bad then reverse not as bad the cracked die has very little to do with grade it’s all the bag marks it’s a 62 maybe maybe 62+ at best but the die is not real issue because they would have listed it as error

I personally don't mind the toning. That being said my bucket list thing is a 1964 or earlier proof set.

It looks like it's a VAM 37 A....which are rare and people barely know about the 1882-S Morgan Cconcave Obverse VAM's -- there's 5 of them and they differ from each other! Actually, the more I see it in this video - I'm confident that it's one of them - is this item for sale?

I have one in the same grade MS63 in an NGC holder (1887/6 VAM2). Looks like the last one graded by NGC sold on Heritage Auctions in May 2023 for $720 including buyers premium. It’s been a few months since I’ve been to a show, but I feel like values have come down a bit since then. I wish mine was in a PCGS holder though. You definitely scored on your purchase. Congrats.

I could tell you real quick in person. It’s a beautiful 85cc and the contrast is what I love to see. I like it as a ms62 (hopefully a PL for you but either way it’s a PQ coin).
