I don't agree with chairman Zembe sentiments about the size of the banks balance sheet My view is that the size of our banks are mirrored to the size of our economy eg does that make sense to have Zig currency being anchored by 2.5 tonnes of Gold or 300 million what's that figure the RBZ is bragging about it shear small mindedness .Israel with 9 million population has GDP of 500 billion while Zimbabwe is 37 billion hence you expect the banks economy to be in tandem with the country economy. It means you are contradicting yourself by saying Old Mutual financial base is stronger. This may be interpreted to mean the shareholders have been taking money from the banks instead of building it

For a country that according to IMF has the largest informal sector, first in Africa and second in the World behind Bolivia, 4% to MSMEs is paltry and really needs apex bodies to refocus their energy. Thanks, Chad, for this insightful presentation. This is why here at MoneyMart we are deliberate in who we lend to, this is our way of contributing to the development of the informal sector the start up space as well as the MSME sector. Whilst majority of our peers are in the consumptive loans space, we only offer productive loans to the MSMEs and the informal sector. whilst we are in that space, we also realised one thing that's contributing to the as low as 4% loans to MSMEs is the lack of collateral. We are now working on a model where we are going to be using data as our security that way, we can help more MSMEs to start and grow their business. Thank you for this interview it is opening our eyes and confirming our model.
