アルミ複合材の音が良い感じです。どういう素材か詳しく知りたいです。 3Dプリンタ製の発砲樹脂は材質の特性か柔らかい音ですね。 画像から見ると後方のボックス状の棚？は平面バッフルなどに影響は出ないのでしょうか？

I just looked up the cost of 2x 70x150mm of brass.............................Ouch! I thought of a different way. Suspend a 5KG weight in the box with a bolt through the middle of the weight and the bolt head touching the speaker rear. Would that work? I see you support your dead weight with a wood yolk in your speaker box so vibration from a suspension of the weight seems not to be a problem. The bolt head could be adjusted to exert more pressure also as long as the front frame is not strained, to avoid any kinetic energy creating a bouncing ball effect. The weight could be a lump of old lead of anything that can form a dead weight.

Had the 4" of this in a 8FT FOLDED TAPERED [ BOTH AXIS ] HORN and it sounded unbelievable with very smooth low notes and vocals which melted the ears, coupled to an 8w single ended valve amp.

Actually, now that I’m listening through my home system (which is more resolving than my good but nevertheless bluetooth headphones) I can hear some improvement using the PD chargers vs. the stock power unit. I’d never thought about using a PD charger as an upgraded power supply for 5V equipment - great idea! A mid-level upgrade that might be on par (just a musing, I’ve never heard one) with the iFi high quality SMPS adapters. Since I already own PD chargers I’ll give them a whirl! Just want to add a few more words of appreciation for how you’ve put these reviews together: The change in background colour from one song to another and the clear photo of the equipment being used as the songs play makes it so easy to use visually scrolling to jump from one setup to another for a/b comparisons back and forth. Also the choices of music selections is very nicely thought out and chosen to demonstrate important musical scenarios that represent very different challenges to reproductive equipment. Also the length of each musical section was well chosen as far as my experience goes. Long enough to get a good sense but short enough that I could still recall my impressions from the last segment. I never had the urge to jump ahead. So, ya, thanks again - very nicely done!

You’ve sold me on the benefits of the linear power supply you built! Now I suppose it would be a lot of work to make a video showing us how to make one, but I bet there’s a few of us curious about that. Maybe that is left to us as homework to find assembly instructions and parts list ;)

I could hear the differences! Wow you went through a lot of work here - I’ve rarely seen such a well organized and executed and well thought out comparison. I love that you recorded it direct to a high quality recorder so it removes the effect of speakers, room, amp etc. I would say the differences are subtle in one way and profound in another. It seems the WiiM pro benefits more from the good power supply than the pro-plus. The pro plus with good power supply and the topping DAC sounded the most deliciously smooth of them all, followed by the pro, good powersuply with Topping DAC combo. The Pro-Plus with good power supply etc using it’s own internal dac was quite good but not as buttery smooth as with the topping. A great achievement considering how much the Topping DAC adds to the price (although I suspect the linear poersupply etc. adds substantially to the overall price as well). So great to get to have someone deonstrate the obvious and lovely (if subtle) effects of adding a good power supply. This has convinced me that the extra expense of the WiiM pro-plus is worth it even when using it as streamer with an external DAC - it clearly outperforms the non-plus model in this comparison in this situation and although it also clearly benefits from external powersupply upgrade it seems to need it less than the non-plus model. My use case is to use it without external DAC at first and then eventually upgrade the DAC ( hopefully to Chord Qutest), this shows that the extra money spent on the plus model doesn’t just give you better performance from the internal DAC (which we know is upgraded) but also better performance as a streamer when an external DAC is added - That’s very helpful to know. My understanding is they did some work to isolate internal components from each other to reduce noise and the result is noticeable here. I can also see the benefit of finding a decent linear power supply. Thanks again for going through all the work to demonstrate these findings. For what it’s worth I’m listening over a 2018 iPad pro 12.9” using Senheiser Momentum 2 headphones (over bluetooth connection). These are decently resolving headphones and I’m very familiar with listening to high end equipment for many many hours. Picking out my favourite equipment that I can afford is a bit of a hobby. That buttery smoothness in the sound, although subtle is definitely palpable and very pleasant and enjoyable. It reminds me of the difference between scrolling on a regular iPad with 60Hz refresh rate and the smoothness of the scrooling on the iPad Pro with 120Hz - subtle but palpable and pleasant and desirable. The only question I’m left with is what the WiiM Pro-Plus sounds like with ethernet connection, basic switching power supply and it’s own internal DAC. Maybe it’s in one of your other videos… I’ll go have a look

For me 10cm or 20cm

To me the 20cm sounded more 3D but a little lacking in the treble range and would look at the addition of a good tweeter to the 20cm speaker. Great comparison and thank you for your time and efforts.

yup the full range sounds nice on vocal music, but in the star wars or something orchestra, clearly the full range doesn't have the same quality, but i think if u get a smaller full range, with lightweight cone, then should get good high frequency reproduction, the problem with the 3 way speaker, is when you start playing music that brings out peaks, or resonances of those drivers, youre more like to get harmonic distortion with 3 drivers, over just 1 .

13×3 回 の空気録音ご苦労様でした。 私は女性ボーカルを良く聴きますが、弦楽四重奏曲などの室内楽も好きです。 主にボーカルの部分を聴きました。私の経験ではボーカルで誇張の無い素直な再生が出来れば他のジャズやクラシックも素直に再生出来ます。 逆にジャズやクラシックで個々の楽器で更によく音が出るように調節すると全体のバランスが崩れる原因になります。 私が推奨している『音の焦点法』はフルレンジの再生に最適なんですが貴方が音出しに苦労している部分が大分解消して楽になると思います。 三種類のスピーカーシステムの比較視聴ですが、似たような音色のスピーカーを聴いてもどれが正しい音色かバランスの良い再生かは判断出来ません。この空気録音の元の曲を原曲と呼ぶことにします。高忠実度再生 i.e HiFi を目指す立場を取れば空気録音を如何にして原曲に近く再生するが目標です。そう考えれば自ずと原曲と空気録音の比較が必須と思います。 一番好印象なのは RD09/HRⅢ です。ややリアル感が有ります。声の厚みが薄い、ハッキリ言わせて貰いますと声の倍音だけを聴いているよう。Duet はハーモニーが物足りないと言うよりは無い。いづれも 80Hz 〜100Hz がチューニング不足しているせいだと思います。音の焦点法を使えば必要なくなりますが！ 問題は原曲は音楽ファイルで、動画ファイルでは有りません。動画ファイルでないと RUclips にはアップ出来ません。音楽ファイルを動画ファイルに変換する方法を貼っておきます。最後にマイクのスピーカーからの距離が明記していないのが気になります。 facebook.com/groups/661768685599819/posts/991469595963058

Winner is Tangband W3-1878. The bass is limited but does not bleed through the rest of the audio spectrum. From experience, the full-range loudspeaker performs very poorly in a bass-reflex load and here again this is confirmed.

Er, I'm not a usb hater, I'm auditioning a ZenSati right now, but how can we compare via listening on youtube? Sound depends on rig used, how it has been recorded your end and then compressed as part of upload. Genuine question, not trying to flame you, I'm a cable guy too.

Which one is better

well this provides a listen to how these three speakers compare in this box. You really need to provide a comparison of each speaker with and without the dead weight. seems worth while shows the benefit of a secure well coupled mounting, at the back of the basket works very well if then braced to both the sides top and bottom of the cabinet. thanks for posting.

Thanks very much for this interesting comparison and showing all the components in your chain! Compared to your main system the Tang Bands are doing a quite good job. However - as expected - deep bass is not very pronounced. High frequencies are not very crisp on W8 (which I did not expect), especially compared to your main speakers, which over pronounce this area in my opinion a little bit (may due to the positioning of the mike). So what's better about Pro Plus? Is it worth paying extra? I have to choose something and I actually have no idea what to decide. My amplifier is a Denon PMA980. It sounds beautiful with Heco Music Style 500 loudspeakers... which Wiii will be better in this situation???

I like 13 the most. Soft and detailed highs, very flat FR (there are no mid bumps), linear phase as expected, enough bass support. But 20 could be selected with people who likes B&W sound for instance.
