    I was thinking about this kind of effect. Because I have noticed that music producers sometimes "DOUBLES" the layering of rhythym guitars on the recordings to make the sound of the guitars wider or bigger.. which is kinda some sort of recording FAKERISH because they can't recreate that on live setup.. With this, rhythm guitar can sound just like that on live or make the recording process less redundant. Also, they should have included a stereo output.. where the double plays on a different side of the stereo. Making it sound like there is another guitar player.

    • @tweedcouch
      @tweedcouch 16 дней назад

      I was playing in my 11x13’ room and was thinking. “Wow! I feel like I’m playing a stadium”. lol Also, you are right. The stereo output would be nice.

    • @Timetofly8888
      @Timetofly8888 16 дней назад

      @valcrist7428 you can't approach live sound reinforcement the same way you do recording. Guitars with stereo effects just get lost in live setup because very few of the audience are standing in the sweetspot to enjoy an stereo effect as thick as stereo chorus. This is why stereo combos never really took off. When guitars are layered during recording it's typically to give them a thicker sound. Yes they are often panned slightly left n right too but never hard left and hard right with width being the focus. Even 2 separate guitarist in a mix are typically only slightly panned so each side blends. We do the same in a live setup with a single guitarist with micing 2 guitar cabinets, or dual mic'ing a single cabinet. Some guys like to use 2 difference type mics when dual mic'ing a single cab so as add a dash of nuance in the "widening" of the guitars out front but in the mix it would really only be panned 20-30%ish (to Engineers taste) off center each side.

    • @tweedcouch
      @tweedcouch 15 дней назад

      @@Timetofly8888then add the room to the equation and a stereo setup could kill your mix.

    • @Timetofly8888
      @Timetofly8888 15 дней назад

      @@tweedcouch I think stereo effects have a place, but to use stereo anything in a single guitar tone, other than reverb in most cases, just creates problem once you get it into the real world onstage. Yes some people think one should be able to replicate any recording live but in reality so much more affects the outcome in a live environment vs a controlled studio environment. Also while I love the sound of Distortion with thick stereo chorus next in the signal chain like you could do with alot of Stereo combo's in the 90s, namely the Marshall 8240 , playing on your own they sound great, but try using it with a band and the effect gets completely lost. It's really just a bit gimmicky. Zakk Wylde used think chorus over his distortions excessively during his Ozzy era, very similar in tone to this pedal but at his rig is was only mono as far as ive been told by guys Ive worked with who have toured with him during that era and Black Label Society in the early days.

    No two guitars sound alike,no two pickups sound identical,sure you can get in the ballpark but they'll still have differences.. Also the bridge on the classic has zinc saddles and the stop bar is zinc but on the R9 it's brass saddles and an aluminum stop bar and that does make a significant difference especially in the midrange... Most people don't realize that simply swapping saddles and stop bar makes a dramatic difference in tone...Any burstbucker or paf type pickup is made to work with brass saddles and aluminum stop bar, it takes the piercing highs out of the guitar and makes it more balanced as well as making it sound more natural and woody...

    Great video and great playing! My finger is a hair away from pulling the trigger on my own R9 purchase. I found a BEAUTIFUL R9 at my local shop, and it's going to be a gift to myself after a decade of working my ass off to build my career. My wife is even on board with it - she's amazing. I share a lot of the same observations and perspectives that you do, but I don't really see the unpotted pickups or binding bleed as negatives. It's authenticity that you're after with these Custom Shop Reissues, after all. And I DO top wrap my strings. I top wrap with Earnie Ball 8s and it makes the string play buttery smooth. Thanks for the video!

    Do not top wrap your strings with the dirty lemon. You will not have enough break angle, you will probably get buzzing and it’s just not gonna sound right. You have to have that angle that guitar was meant for which is why you no longer need a top wrapped stop bar. By now you probably already know that anyways. Beautiful Guitar and thank you. It was on my list now. I will consider it.

But I am planning to swap in the 500T from my 1994 Flying V this weekend, I have a feeling that it will suit my new Les Paul and please the metal gods beyond anything that I've ever played. For everything else, I have the Strat 🎸 This video gave me a great idea of how it will sound when I put in the 500T, thanks again. ps. I have a 1980 2203 sitting on a checkerboard cab. Do you find that the more stable bridge dulls the very highest frequencies? I know it “tightens’ the sound and this may sound much better to some ears. To be honest, that’s what your demo sounds like. I know this can solve some of the “rattle" and intonation problems. Rickenbackers have a very precise tone which accentuates the tuning problems. I have a Rickenbacker 12 string, it is a 330/12 and I prefer the stock bridge. I have thought about ordering the factory 12 saddle bridge for it, but the guitar sounds great as is. I find most things are trade-offs to some degree.

    I have had a couple different model Rickenbacker 12 strings .I found that the strings were too close together which was also George Harrison's complaint. Also Tom Petty wanted a wider neck, and had them make the 660 model . That's the one I have now and is the only Rickenbacker 12 strings I would buy. It's so much easier to finger.

    Very good video.. thanks for sharing.. I have a question.. the neck is easy to play ? Because I use to play 12 strings but acoustic like Takamine etc but now I feel a little pain in my hand..and I want to get a Rickenbacker ..thank you

    • @tweedcouch
      @tweedcouch 2 месяца назад

      The neck is thinner. It is also narrower. The strings have a smaller gauge. So yes it is “easier to play” in the sense that you can press and make chords but because of the narrowness the strings are closer together. This. Makes for some difficulty. I think the Danelectro electric 12 is easier to play in the sense of making chords with less fumbling.

    Anybody with Custombuckers find that they squeal under high gain situations? I personally love the sound of Custombuckers, but I play punk rock with heavy distortion and am worried about bad feedback (as the “new” Custombuckers are not wax potted). The other option is Bare Knuckle Mules. They don’t sound quite as nice as the Custombuckers to my ears, but they’re lightly potted, so I’m hoping they wouldn’t have any squealing issues. Thanks in advance for the replies.

    • @tweedcouch

      Volume will make a difference. So will the placement in relation to the amp. That said, these are unpotted which will increase the amount of potential harmonic feedback.

    Bindong bleed does not happen like that on 59s. they use oils in the dye that causes that. its totally wrong. that whol finish is like thick plastic, totally wrong. nothing like a real one.

    • @tweedcouch
      @tweedcouch 3 месяца назад

      Not sure how much plasticizer they use now. It feels less plastic than the usual Gibson finish. I have played a real 59 Junior and a real 57 gold top and the finish does seem newer on the R9 but that would make sense since it is new. The bleed does seem to be more than anything I’ve seen on a real 59 too.
