SSL2 Preamp Noise??! Compared To UA Volt1 in 1 Minute
While the SSL is a great choice due to its ergonomic design, which makes it ideal for desk use, it wasn't the best fit for me. The SSL's design avoids clutter with no front inputs or headphone outputs, and it features a linear volume knob and separate 48V power for each input. Despite these advantages, I found that the Universal Audio Volt 1 suits my needs better. If available, I would opt for the Volt 176, so I recommend checking that out as well.

2024 Update: Now I'm using MixWave's Mario Duplantier - Gojira as my main drum library, and I've stopped using the libraries I compared in this video. Also, for heavier tracks, definitely check out Bogren Digital's Krimh Drums. Don't miss the latest GGD products too. Personally, I think any of these libraries will get the job done, you may need tweaking EQ to nail the desired sound, But let me know in the comments which one you prefer . Also there is a 3 minutes blind test comparison in the channel you may wanna check to save time . I own SOOOO many drum vsts and expansions for each of them. Most are really good in their own ways, I gotta go with the deadly combo of EZD3 and SSD5.5. I usually start with EZD because the MIDI library is MASSIVE, but once I get the arrangement and riffs sorted out, SSD 5.5 is what's getting exported. It's the ultimate for that professional sound right off the bat.
Thanks for this comparaison!
Hi hat and snare rolls are really not good. It lacks round robins and maybe velocity play. Superior drummer, studio drummer and addictive drums are decent. Good surprise on Cinesamples. Too bad there is no BFD3, but it's great that you included less renowned vst's. Overall they all sound good, I think. And props to your test and drum parts, good job.
I think you're right about the snare and hi-hat. It's more about how they programmed the midi velocity than the vsts themselves
2024 Update: I am currently using mostly the MixWave - Mario Duplantier - Gojira library, and these libraries compared above are no longer included in my template. For heavier genres, I would also suggest checking out Bogren Digital's Krimh Drums.
im just looking for a vst to pirate
SUCH a SUPER Demo !! Thanks Mate !!!!!!
Thank you for this great video ! No9 is my favorite, the most realistic sound. Ilove blind tests.
Please do comment on your fav in next videos. In my personal opinion from hearing this. Garritan sounds best
Sure. Yes, I think Garritan sounds the best too.
GGD THE BEST
Where is Hertz Drums?
professional comparison 🤟🏼💥
they all sound bad..but most closest to industry is getgooddrums modern massive , toontrack have best record quality..but toontrack have no idea how to record snare ..its most hardest one to achive..but overall with some plugins you can get what you want from getgoodrums moder massive snare ..it sound right.. trick is just listen raw drum records of artists on low volume and your kontakt drums...it would be clear very fast
Lol
The big problem with drums vst is that people thinks you just write midi and it's done. You need to mix the drums to sound right, depending the style of music you're making.
Any thoughts on BFD3 or Mododrum?
What's you favorite?
Hi, all of them have noise floor recorded to all the samples, except pianoteq and Arturia, I'm not speaking of pedal or key noises which can be muted most of the times in vst UI. there is a hiss/noise of the room and internal noises of equipment like mics and pre amps and... used in the process of recording samples . so if you play a chord like 5 notes together, then you are doubling those noise floors of each sample 5 times. it's not really audible when listening through monitors, as they have their own amp idle noise and depending on how close you sit from them, but through headphones or in a dead quite situations with quality monitors, you will hear it and there's no way to get rid of them , like noise profiler plugins like z noise or Rx ruin the sound ,the only way is to lower the release and then add reverb to make the tail for that note but that has its compromise also , so I would go with Arturia piano v3
Excellent video! There’s some drum plugins I didn’t know about!🔥 What’s your personal favorite?
