For those looking to do this trail soon, there are two new massive trees down at the beginning of the trail, not seen in this video, that are as tall as the bike itself, suspended a foot above the ground, and at an angle. Either need to throw the bike over them, get help from a buddy to lift or be a trials champ.

Iron Chest is known as one of the oldest hard core 4x4 trails in the state. It and the one next to it, Grizzly Gulch, are the two hardest trails in that area and both have claimed lives of off roaders. Several years ago, they took the rocks out of the rock garden to retrieve a bunch of old mining equipment and scrap steel. When they put the rocks back in they made the road a bit tougher. I rode Iron Chest on my Blaster several years ago, but never imagined doing it on one of my bikes. It's much easier in my Jeep for an old guy. Kudos to you for making it up the trail. Probably 90% plus trail riders won't even attempt it on two wheels.

Fun section of the Rainbow Trail. I swamped my CR back in '15 at the 20:53 min mark. I had crossed it once coming from Hayden Creek CG and hit a rock I didn't see going back. There was a lot of snow that year and the snow melt had the stream running quite a bit higher.

I broke a radiator and the engine stator case on this trail, I was able to limp the bike back to camp.

Amazing how dry at sergeants, we rode agate creek on the 12th I think, up to the divide then over to the pass and back and Agate was a swamp with roots.

Those are trails I rode as a teen, in the 1970’s. Lived less than 2 miles from where you rode in this one. Don’t know if you agree, but to me, being on a bike, in the mountains, is as free as it gets!

I've only ridden the Rainbow Trail from Hayden Creek CG south a little and north past Bear Creek TH about 15 miles. My favorite so far is Bear Creek going north, love the flowy stuff. Gonna have to see where that section is and ride it next year.

Thanks for posting. This is my favorite section of Rainbow. Have only ridden opposite the direction of this video. Always start from Silver Creek and ride to Mears. We'll be there next month, might have to start from Mears to mix it up a bit. Ha!

My brother just crashed somewhere off of this trail and SAR is on their way to get him. I will need to hike out there and get his bike where is the closest place I can park to access? His coordinates are 38.582461, -106.416191 Hopefully SAR gets to him soon. Thanks for the video so I have an idea of what I’m heading I to

Buddy! DOWN SHIFT! DOWN SHIFT! DOWN SHIFT! You ride in way too high of a gear, causing you to barely be in control! Very hard to watch this! Not trying to be rude at all. Just ride in a lower gear, you’ll have waaaay more control!

A buddy and I just ran the "difficult" sections of Bunce School Road.....a few easy areas with a ton of SUPER rocky areas that were a challenge for both man and machine. I was on my KX450 with a 51 rear sprocket and it was an all out battle! ROCK on!

No need for the speed. When you're catching your breath, it's a good time to take in and enjoy the scenery.

One of the very best trails in Sargent's! Also one of the most brutal. It's a tough one and the rocks are relentless. When you finish Horseshoe you really feel like you have accomplished something! Did it last year with my KTM 500 EXC and it was a lot of bike...year before on a 300 which is much better. Love your vids!

To many people on monarch for my liking. We about took out mamaw last year.

Does that go from Big Blue over to Jacks Campground (or something similar) just north of Lake City? That one has like 120 switchbacks from what I understand.
