If you need something to hold your work down, I strongly suggest getting the holdfasts...

Real Life: My Messy Workshop
Просмотров 2216 лет назад
This week I show you my workshop. It isn't pretty. It's real life though. Sometimes you just have to share how things really are. I wish my workshop was perfectly clean and organized. I'm striving for that! But until certain things change, I'll struggle with it. Hopefully in the near future I will have some wall units for my tools and that will be a HUGE help. Anyway, if you have a shop like th...

Sharpening Tools: What You Need To Know
Please share the type of bit for planer machine.
That beard does not fit on you
If the jig isn’t quite dead on 45 degrees, is there a way to tune it, or is the only hope to start over?
GREAT Video! Such a lovely job. Will try this after I finish the fence I'm making. Got a new subber : ]
6:17 That wood has nice boobies :D Sorry couldn't resist lol
The nicker is completely unnecessary in a rabbet application, you only need it for dados.
Christ what a terrible video with a great premise You messed this up
What is that handsaw called? Is that a tenon saw?
Nice and easy. Looks good
Rebates where I come from
Found I was doing the same on the Tormek, even.
Granddaughter is coming down this summer and this looks like a great project for us to tackle. She made a shelf in her schools shop class so I think she should be able to handle all elements of the project. It’s all about making those lifelong memories!!
Good voice. Good instructions. Well delivered. Useful and pleasant. Success assured.
does your fence moves a little bit even if you tight it well?
Got some nice maple that got downed in a storm.. planning on whittling some of the sticks while I'm rocking on my porch 😅 great time killer and a great stress relief
Wasn't the plane shaving the plywood also! ? !
At first, yes, but since planes have a small bladeless "gap" in the sole, that part will stop the plane from advancing further
Thats amazing
Thanks for the tips!
Great video!
Thank you sir
Woodglut is a solid company with solid woodworking plans.
Sharpen your knife
Can I smooth pressure treated wood edges on handrails like in your video? Nice video
I have watched a few mitre shooting board vedeos but this was the simplest and most doable one for a novice like myself. Thanks so much. Will be waiting for more on your channel.
Hey man, sweet video. Love seeing a normal person approach this topic with interest and some experience. I have been whittling as "something to do" while fishing and hiking for most of my life. I was on trip recently to Mt. Whitney where we had some serious down-time during a rain storm. Decided to pick up a downed branch and start whittling. After the trip, I got home, and was so proud of what I made up on the mountain in 3 hours (ended up being a wooden dagger with a segmented grip). Decided I would look up some videos about what it takes to "actually" whittle and ended up stumbling across your video. I learned so much about the process and tools within this vid. Anyways, just wanted to say thanks - liked and subscribed!
See Paul Sellers video on 78. If you look at the blade you will see it is relieved on the side edge, this is for a reason. The side of the blade cuts the wall. The blade protrudes a fraction so it cuts. No spur required when running with the grain only on cross cut. Hope this helps.
Knife is dull, but great video.
Just decided to start whittling. You popped up first. Algos must like ya. Subbed on behalf of the algo gods but I am hoping there's more whittling stuff on your channel
good stuff.
Vrry slow, use router become faster
"Whittle by whittle" That is a terrible joke and you should feel bad! ;)
This was really helpful. Thanks a bunch. :)
Nice joke, dad!
Great idea
Ty, and great joke haha
This time I will do it manually with the help of woodglut designs.
Great stuff!
Can mom's not whittle? !
Where did you get the basswood??
I find rough rider pocket knives are very affordable just needs edge tuning up then a good stropping and it’s a great carving tool you don’t need the likes of case or flexcut knives they are over priced I find schrade old timer and rough rider pocket knives are great I beeen carving with them knives for 3 years now I use a Barlow pocket knife by schrade and a rough rider the handle shape is crazy comfortable in use highly recommended a two blades Barlow small blade for detail work and larger blade for rough working greetings from the uk 🇬🇧 👍🇮🇹🐾🦊

I like it! Just got into this and I love making a mess! Plan to pass it on to my nephews… I have great books☝🏽not a dad, not a kid 🤷🏻♀️👍🏽🙏🏽🙋🏻♀️ Army Girl
Not an ARMY girl, just a girl. And I agree! Except I don't have any nephews either. lol
I used woodglut instructions for this and I already did it :)
I've been seeing a lot of whittling videos recently and I feel like I'm in love it with, it seems so peaceful and I've always loved creating things. Once school is over I wanna give it a go!
You'll find that accidental cuts show ways you'd never think of even trying.
Hmmm... I finally followed Ann's advice and took woodglut instructions. It's great for beginners and has some advanced stuff too.
I/we always called them "flags." With multiple pieces you can number each triangle with successive numbers. Also, "cabinetmaker" is one word, not two.
Id just use a router with a 45 degree bit then sand it.
but for those who have a plane and no router...
The blade's shape is known as "Sheepsfoot".
Someone told me, back in the mists of time,,, Never cut towards your thumb, always cut towards your chum,,, The advice didn't work much tho'.... I'm right handed, and I can count maybe ten or more scars on my left hand, (I'm 66 now, and I've forgotten how I got most of them,, lol.. )
So awesome. I was looking for a basic intro to technique and you covered it quickly and easily. Thank you!!
