According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, to unmask means “to reveal the true nature of; to expose.” As someone who has mastered the art of people-pleasing and blending in, I find the idea of unmasking myself a bit daunting. But on my journey, I’ve learned to welcome all parts of myself, even the ones I used to think held me back. Instead of fighting these traits, I've found that appreciatin...

Why the ENTJ Often Gets Mistyped as ENFJ

    For me it is a little bit different. I usually am extremely extroverted during social gatherings, but all the time I am keeping my hidden introverted side and analyzing everyones behaviour. I tend to read people in order to navigate social gathering to be as harmonous as possible, yes I use my insight to lets say manipulate them all, but I manipulate them all in order for them to feel safe and welcomed in that social group. Its like playing with kids, but wanting whats best for them.

    Thank you for sharing your journey with such honesty. There are so many of us dealing with depression and anxiety, it helps to know we’re not alone. I’ve been prescribed Zoloft but terrified of taking it because I don’t want to be on it for ever. Also afraid of the side effects. Good to know it helped you for those years and that you’ve been able to come off it and doing well. ❤

    Thank you so much for this video. I’m talking from Brazil. I went off medication (escitalopram) a little more than 3 months ago and had a hard crises two days ago. I thought seriously about coming back to the medication, almost did, but resisted. I also took the medication for five years, and it did a lot for me, and I also felt prepared and stable to get off of it, but it is not easy. Yesterday I researched a lot about life after anti depressant and there is not much content about it out there. Im very glad I find this video and what a coincidence that you posted just 3 days ago! You are such a great communicator! Your video gave me hope about my recovery and gave a little more clarity about the things Im going through right now. Good luck to us! 🫶

    Thank you for your honesty! I came off of St Johns Wort at the recommendation of my doctor and switched to 25 mg of Zoloft for anxiety symptoms. This worked somewhat well for me at first, but within a few weeks, I have sunk into a pretty deep depression (just like that "heaviness" you describe) and this horrible feeling that everyone hates/is against me. I am now going to taper off the zoloft and back to the St. Johns Wort (which worked very well for me for my depression for years). I think my doctor was probably skeptical of St Johns Wort, but I can say without question that it helped me while I was taking it, and look forward to getting back on it.

    I don't see how you can mistype ENTJ for ENFJ since only the observation functions are in the same spot. The judging axis is completely different. It's blatantly obvious when you listen to how they make their judgements, ENTJs will generally prefer logic driven decisions over emotional, ENTJs will rarely say something like hey lets stop the project because so and so is not on board and feeling badly about it. ENFJs make most of their decisions based on people, if so and so doesn't feel onboard and against it, ENFJs would care alot more than ENTJ, theres alot of Fe manipulation going on in the realm of Fe where as ENTJs get people onboard with hard logic and say stuff like hey you only have a job because we're making profit, your plan cuts profits by at least 30% which means we're going to go under so it doesn't matter if Timmy doesn't like this plan coz following your plan, we're all gonna lose our jobs including Timmy so your plan is just straight up a worse outcome. Where as the ENFJ may say something like the methods of which we've adopted to generate profits are questionable in ethics (even though it's not necessarily), many of the staff here don't feel morally justified in this approach, we need to reconsider and come to better consensus, Timmy had to see a psychologist due to the stress and moral dilemmas this company has put him through, enough is enough, we need change, we need to to cut back. Looking at the population of MBTI types, most women are SFJ and most men are STJs which means more men are likely to be onboard with the ENTJ and most women are more likely to be onboard with the ENFJ. Both have their perspectives, ENTJ is more focused on bottom line, outcome and PHYSICAL needs of the people, ENFJ is more focused on the EMOTIONAL needs of the people and harmony. Those who think ENTJ have low emotional intelligence are likely projecting coz they themselves value it thus they think ENTJs lack it but in actual fact, ENTJs look at emotional reasoning the same as logical reasoning i.e if the most efficient method to accomplish the outcome is by acting like an ENFJ then ENTJs will simply put on the Fe, the real reason why people complain about ENTJ's lack of Fe is because they themselves are not looking at the bottom line and how the world works etc... they're too focused on feelings hence the decisions of the ENTJ looks to be lacking in consideration to how one feels but the cost to value feelings over a bottom line will likely net u worse feelings later on or in the long run. ENTJs are simply cutting the b.s and getting straight to the essence of the issue, most issues are not easy to resolve and requires some kind of delayed gratification or sacrifice which means temporarily feeling bad, ENTJs are simply just very good at compartmentalizing their emotions coz they know they aren't going to feel better long term until this objective is met or that the root cause of the problem is resolved. Lastly, ENTJs are the least extroverted of all extroverts and is barely any more social than the most extroverted of the introverted types so I would say ENFJ is astronomically more "social" and "outgoing" than the ENTJ, the ENTJ is mostly out coz he wants something done or needs to network with people, not there to idly chit chat and feeling the Fe vibes etc... I would not put them in the same boat of extroversion at all, Te extroversion requires an outcome, it is heavily debate oriented and attaining and exchanging data/information whereas Fe extroversion seeks good vibes and actual socializing with people.

  • @AnonW
    @AnonW 2 месяца назад

    ENTJs don't actually shut off any perspectives, they already know all the perspectives since Te is constantly taking in everyone's thoughts and have made an executable plan out of it. It is pointless thinking that anything can happen from an execution perspective, you need to organize and structure likelihood and proceed with the most likely or most beneficial method, not sit there and be paralyzed in what ifs. ENTJs see so many roadblocks, hindrances and inefficiencies, most types aren't doers and essentially sit there and accomplish nothing and ENTJs are kind heartedly reminding people to just do it.

    Thank you very much for sharing your experience with tapering off. Your courage and strength is very visible. I’m planning on tapering off in the next 6 months from Zoloft (50mg). I tried to come off of it in the first week of August and my psychiatrist recommended 25 mg for 2 weeks and to stop completely, but I got so many panic attacks and anxiety that I had to get back on it. Hopefully, for the next attempt I’ll gradually slow it down. I also heavily relate to the dismissive nature that doctors hold when dealing with medication changes. Your advice helped me. As you mentioned, I think it’s really important to keep a good outlook and have that sense of hope throughout the process. I hope that I’m also able to conquer this journey and replenish my emotional palette again.

    Hi, thanks for sharing your experience I found it very helpful. I’m male aged 60, live in UK, and was on 100 mg tablets one per day for around 3 years. This completely helped me with my anxiety. In April this year (2024) I decided to wean off and began by taking one tablet every other day for 6 weeks, this seemed to have no impact. Then in June dropped to one every 3 days and again this seemed ok. Then just a month ago I came off completely. Over there 4 weeks my tiredness and irritability has increased, but the worst thing has been really bad body aches - flu like aches, especially at night, or when sitting and lying down, often waking me and keeping me awake. I’m hoping this will fade as it’s not been pleasant, maybe I completely cut out too quickly. I’m writing this at 4am, another hour awake. Wondering if you, or others had any similar of these more physical symptoms? Hope you’re continuing to do well.😊

    I just came to the same conclusion recently, that 'connecting in the moment' makes me the best social version of myself. I think it has to do with letting go of Fi in the moment, not making any value judgments and letting criticism leak in. The background question 'is this or am I good or bad?' should be left, mostly, unanswered. Relying on 'am I correct or incorrect?' allows much more flow

    As an infj who constantly make space for other I thought the opposite would be someone who makes space for you? I find myself learning to establish boundaries and working hard on it. It’s hard for me to do. The thought of having to fight for myself with the person I am close to the most and spend everyday with seems exhausting and kind of sad. I door slammed my childhood best friend because of not establishing boundaries with her and her not considering me and my sacrifice. I wouldn’t want that to happen again. I learned my lesson about boundaries then but I don’t want a repeat..

    Wow I can’t believe that doctor told you to just go cold turkey from twelve and telling you that it should be fine and it’s basically nothing There is research now which shows hyperbolic tapering is the safest. Which means the lower the dose the less you should increase it by as the withdrawals symptoms are actually strong at lower doses.
