The soundtrack is one of the reasons I love ODST. Beforehand, Bungie wanted Marty to follow a specific type of music for Halo CE to Halo 3. For this game, they allowed him to do whatever he wanted. And his talent clearly shows.

I wonder what the gravemind was thinking as the flood approached earth, the homeland of it's enemy. (Maybe the flood didn't actually care about the humans, but it seemed like they were doing a good job purging it).

High Charity has fallen, become a dreaded hive. Almost no one I’ve seen play this game blind realises how horrifying that is. That giant covenant capital doubling as an intergalactic spaceship is in hands of the flood. Seems like no one who plays Halo 2 cares about the infestation of High Charity and many dont even recognize it when it arrives on the Ark. To me it was one of the strongest points of Halo 2’s story and campaign: The fall of High Charity and its consequences. Of course the invasion on Earth is also horrifying, the flood on Earth is a terrifying thought and should def hit hard, and the ease with which Voi was completely overtaken plus the measures they had to take to contain it, very much horrifying indeed, but I feel not enough people even realize when playing halo 3 that High Charity is still out there, completely infected; if that doesnt concern you at least a little bit then nothing will, its a scary as hell fact and/or realization Both things along: The Flood arriving and spreading on Earth and the infected carrier also being a reminder that High Charity was infected and is still out there combined with the mission’s magnificient ambience, going straight into the heart of the infestation plus the ending cutscene too, makes Floodgate one of the hardest hitting missions in the game and possibly the whole franchise. I love it for that The universe was very, VERY lucky that High Charity crashed onto the Ark and was blown up otherwise Im not sure how that intergalactic mobile enormous flood hive wouldve been stopped.
