OMW this has given me so much understanding .. its where i am at . I got divorced in 1995 in Durban South Africa , i left an abusive marriage . Then i disappeared as you say ! I have found peace in meditation and solitude . I now live in Jeffreys Bay in a garden apartment behind my brothers house . I have become a seamstress and make kimonos and sandals but im having a mini break for now . I am content and love who i have become . Im not by a long shot who i was years ago. I work with people with dementia . Seen so many cases of people who have experienced crisis on retirement due to loss of how they hold their identity based upon their work. The depression has been a precursor. ( This doesn’t mean there’s not medical reasons of course) It’s important to constantly focus on personal growth in relationships and interests and have balance.

WOW! This really hit me. I realized that people whom I was there for were not there for me. I stopped being there for all but one. The one who has always been there for me, I'm still there for her. Getting deeper into hobbies, traveling more, adopted a puppy. I'm simple, it's all I need. Life became better after I did this.

Being alone has brought home to me the realization that I was born complete, that I don't need anyone to complete me. Even my life partner does not complete me. We only complement each other and share meaningful companionship. Solitude has taught me the strength in self validation and less dependence on others for emotional calmness. People pity me for being a loner but I pity them for their ignorance. Being a loner has taught me that in every disadvantage is encapsulated a decided advantage which only the mindful can see. I accept all that I am and constantly look for ways to make the best possible use of what is at my disposal to foster personal growth, at all levels of my being. Materially I am successful. My lifestyle is successful. Many people failed in relationship with me. They only like me when I'm soft spoken, respectful, obliging, smiling, sweet.
