A quick tour of Port Sunlight Village built in the late nineteenth century by William Lever to provide housing for his workers. The Village's name is derived from Sunlight soap which was a leading brand of the factory and ground breaking at the time as it was manufactured from vegetable or palm oil while all other brands used animal fat. A look at the WW2 type 22 Pillbox located just behind Leasowe Castle on The Wirral and onto Leasowe Lighthouse dating back to 1763, finally ending its service in 1908. It went on to become a grade 2 listed building in 1952. I really enjoyed this trip to Hilbre. I haven't been to Hoylake in fifty years so it brought back some memories. Have to admit I never walked over to the islands and after watching this wish I had.
