    • @randomologist77
      @randomologist77 11 дней назад

      @@caseymuzio7609 Sure can! Back in the 60’s, there was super premium fuel available at many gas stations which got close to 100 octane. Modern gas stations typically cap out at 91 octane. There’s no way to drive an 11.3:1 compression iron headed engine on pump gas. Even considering static vs dynamic compression. The builder was even advocating for 9.5:1 to keep the engine a little safer. I run a gallon or so of a much higher octane blend into the tank before filling up most of the time.

    Back in around the year 1993, I fully restored a 1962 Ford Falcon to brand new condition and for 11 years, it was my daily driver, and I drove it on the interstate in all weather 30 miles a day to my job in industrial maintenance. But I did have some problems. Everybody wants to buy it, and everywhere you go, strangers constantly come up to talk about old cars, what gets to be a nuisance. Some people made fun of me, like look at that old guy in that old car who can't afford a new one. It suits him. Some people got sore at me like, what is he trying to prove. Some people tried to nickname me Falcon Jim, what I didn't appreciate. Some people made fun of me like, here comes that old Falcon, chugging up the road. Other people freaked out because I left the key in the ignition and never locked it and I often parked it sitting open with the windows down. Because nobody was going to bother that old car. People saw me as an oddball, a misfit, somebody who was different than everyone else. Oh and then I had problems with collectors who snobbishly didn't care about some old Falcon, because it wasn't a high value car like a Corvette. They said they wouldn't let me join an old car club because my car didn't have an original radio. What was just an excuse. Nobody understood the Falcon was my hobby and that's why I enjoyed working on it and driving it

    Honestly, the best alternative to a classic Mustang are the S197 mustangs. I had a 2013 Mustang GT Premium and it was a great road car. Drove it from Dallas to Los Angeles and then back again with zero issues and it was lowered, tuned, and straight piped putting down 423.3whp or approximately 497hp. It was loud but at cruising speed of 70mph it was no where near loud and unbearable as a classic. I’m considering going back to an S197 for a 2014 GT500 and using that as a daily road trip car. It’s by far more comfortable and usable than my 2013 Viper GT. The 2013-14 years were the best raw but somewhat civilized balance and it was plenty quick.

    "you can't daily drive a classic car" is a myth created by the modern car industry. These *were* daily driven therefore they *can* be daily driven. You touched on the main point early on. The question can be phrased *should* you daily drive a classic. That answer is completely subjective and depends on both the car and the driver as well as the region, and roads, etc.

    My only issue with my '78 2.3 liter was the throttle pin which had a habit of coming out, never to be seen again, and minor radiator issues. I'd take it back any day.

    I proudly daily drive a 1985 LTD Ford. One of two left in my entire province. She has a few bumps and scratches from the previous owners. But she had suepr low KM when I bought it. She served the previous owner well who loved it but had to let it go, and she is serving me well! It's super reliable, and also despite having just a V6, she has quite a lot of power and sounds and looks awesome! Thanks for the video!

    Great video. I have a 66 mustang with a 289 small block that I’m financing from my older brother and my only concern with driving this car is that it gets stolen. See people mention that I should get tracking devices or hidden kill switches and while that may help I live in San Diego near the border so someone can just steal the car and take it to Mexico and I’ll never see it again. Maybe I’m just being paranoid. Great video though.

      @@rubrub9609 make sure you check in with insurance options. Classic car insurance will probably require you to have a private garage in CA. Lojack is a great option for CA, and they have a high recovery rate! Check out my video on your concerns.

    I daily drive my 1976 K20 chevy, I bought it when I was 15 now almost 19, its been torn apart and rebuilt many times. I mean it got pulled out a field. and my dad daily's his 1986 Chevy c30 4 door, and they all do great although the fuel consumption especially on mine from me building the engine

      I see many comments about the fuel consumption, but in truth, there are a ton of modern performance SUVs which don't do much better than a classic or vintage car. My Infiniti FX35s generally got 15-17 around town and 19-23 on the road depending on the season, and they also required premium. That's well within a vintage small block "car" range.

      @@randomologist77 Well yeah that it true, but mine on the other hand gets around 6 to maybe 9 max on highway dont know about in town, and I have to put premium in it as well just because how its built but all around I dont care about it because I like driving it and I wouldnt trade it for better mileage
