It is a very good album. Still sounds absurdly fresh. Jimmy Page brought the songs, secret sauce and attitude, the Crowes brought the swing and swagger. They could have gone far with this, but it was not to be. Cheers 🍺

Comparing live Zeppelin from the 1970’s to Page & The Crowes... -Page & The Crowes basically had a Skynyrd style triple guitar attack. So obviously the many old Zeppelin tracks they played had a much more full guitar sound compared to 1970s Page on his own. -The difference on drums however can basically be summed up by simply saying John Bonham VS Steve Gorman. Much more power on the 1970s versions.

People wonder why Jimmy doesn't gig anymore like 79 year old Clapton or other rockers well over 70. It's because Jimmy doesn't; just play, he performs. It's not just his fingers on the instrument, it's his body and his mind conveying passion and emotion with every note, I've been blessed to have seen Jimmy Page live about 8 times, and it's not just a show, it's an athletic event. Sweat, saliva, the man becomes the music. You can't just pick up your axe and do that, and to his everlasting credit, Jimmy knows it, The greatest guitar player, ever.

I think the band as a whole is great, they really rock out and give the Zeppelin songs the sound they deserve. Page was on fire on many of those shows. But I'm still not persuaded by Robinson's vocals, though there is no denying his conviction and passion for the music.

Saw them 3x's also saw Zeppelin , Page Plant 3x, The Crowes ..I thought the shows were Great !! With 2 other guitarists ..That freed up Page to not have to play rhythm and lead together ..like in the zeppelin days..Rich Robinson insulted Page and he left. I read that in Steve Gorman's book. I had tix to see The Who & Page Crowes at M.S.G. in N.Y. But Page left siting "back" issues. The Crowes were replaced by the Wallflowers for the show...BUMMER !!!!

From what I understand, The Black Crowes record company contract would not allow any Crowes material on the album, but they did play it on the tour. I saw a show in Worcester where Joe Perry joined them onstage and all the boys jammed bluesy songs for about 1/2 hour.

I agree with you. I heard that happening when it when it was going on and i thought, that was the band that was doing it back then. They were the ones who had that sound and who played that music that way, let alone with a vocalist who is the best of that era, a young Rod Stewart, who was great in his day and still is great now, but i like the early stuff best. And the drummer, who is excellent. I think that live collaboration was great.

As a Zep-Head and a guitarist, I really cherish the album and use it as a reference for what's possible in terms of getting a live Zeppelin sound. Some of the performances are incredible because you actually hear how multiple guitars can recreate the studio sound. In terms of the Black Crowes it made me appreciate how good they are as a band and interested me in their catalogue.
