3 SuperSwitches, 3 different widths. The standard 5-Way SuperSwitch is a tight fit in a Tele control cavity, if it will fit at all. Here are a couple of alternatives that should fit.

Zexcoil Vintage Set

Playing starts at 4:57 I spent a little time with the loaner (tour) pickguard loaded with Scott's Vintage Set pickups. I liked these so much, I bought a set. www.zexcoil.com/vintageSeriesSets.html Played through a Fractal Axe-FX II with firmware 8.01a using the '65 Bassman amp model. Recorded with Audacity via analog outs to analog ins of a laptop. The guitar is a '94 Strat Plus Deluxe.

Helping me 13 years after you posted it, thanks a TON!
Best kinda meter. Use the digital to tune the analog.
Stupid digital changes numbers too much but that needle and the whole scale on that I get more knowlege from.
So black and white red and green are the pairs. So is that why you can bridge the humbucker with tying the red and white and useing black as the hot and green as the neutral?
Can the S1 work if the following way? Vol knob up: neck pickup to a 3-way toggle (LP style) to the output jack. Vol knob down: engages a tone cap to the neck pickup then onto the toggle to the output jack. The volume pot is specifically for the neck pickup. Thanks for the help. Happy New Year.
Great video. I've watched 3 or 4 of these on the same subject. This one is the best I've seen. Good job and thank you!
i watched this 3 times and im still too fucking stupid to follow it.
Zexcoil vs microcoil?
this video is gold!
I thought start was positive and finish was negative, and all the humbucker wiring charts have north start -> north finish-> south finish-> south start. So in reality if north start is positive then south finish is also positive, correct?
Being an axe user myself, but preferring tube amps, i have to laugh at some of these issues. "the jitter of the tuner is a feature" and other comments, "turn down your tone control" ..... have you ever heard such things when using real pedals or tube amps ? Seems nothign is ever a problem with the axe , its always the user or your other gear, what youre monitoring with etc. I notice this on axe forum too, its like a cult mindset , any complaints or tone problemswill be blamed on your playing , pickup height, speakers, cables etc
Dimarzio dp100 has No bare wire ... so do I Just wire the green to ground && ignore the fact theres no bare wire??
THANKS! i had my lipsticks reversed. i figured it jumps up under correct wiring, jumps down when reversed. so, backwards to how i had it. over a decade later, your vid is still helping out random strangers on the internet.

Thank you very much. I was followed your instructions and after inspecting the diaphragm ($6.60) I found the "root cause" of the trouble. 👍
👍👍👍
What Else can they be used for beyond CoilTaps, please..?
Precious sight
А просто впаять перемычку вместо покраски не судьба?
By far the best explanation with visuals on this subject of the many videos and hours I have watched and spent trying to understand this subject. Thank you!
Could be that they used the same dual pots as the 80's "modern" Strat, which had the exact same treble cut / bass (and treble) cut functionality.
You have no idea how I've been looking for this video. Why? Because I bought a Predator and had to change the tone knob. The thing worked, but had some issues. Long story short I sent the guitar to a "luthier" and it was rocket science to connect a tone split coil. This happened a month ago, I've been looking for the answer since then (and I have a compass lol) Thx!!!
Hilarious!!!
I love this so much
Have you taken one a part yet to see how the conductive paint held up?
Thank you for this! 12 years later, still helping!

I wished I would have found this earlier..ended up paying $750.00 for diaphragm replacement on 6 valves!! I was under the impression that the valves were being replaced..unbelievable..I am all about blue collar work getting paid..but to pop off the "bonnet", removing 4 screws and replacing the diaphragm which now cost $6.60 and charging $125.00! Well, come on guys! That is just a little too much to charge in my opinion!
Try turning down the tone pot as well because the sharpness of the treble can make any tuner jittery just from the high treble tones..
Very informative, thank you for posting.
22:09 minutes to explain how to identify just a polarity of a humbucker pickup😮 i can do it within a minute or two
where your video describing this?
A question. A person would use the stock TBX pot on a typical strat guitar having all single coil pickups, (for the bridge and middle pickups), but on a guitar having humbucker pickups would you have to swap out the 250k resistivity trace part in the TBX pot for a resistivity trace part from a 500k CTS pot?
hope this reached you in time. the 250k pot on one side is a no load pot which essentially removes itself from the circuit at minimum value. this means theres no need to do so since pot values only matter if its always connected
My S-1 fell of while practicing last night thanks so much I had no idea how the button / tubing was related - saved me a lot of time
You don’t have to back the screws all of the way out. Just back them out enough to lift the bonnet off, and leave them in the bonnet holes.
They fit pretty well? From what I've seen Bill's pickups are usually a little taller than standard ones.
That was my first ship I loved Midway Magic!
shame the video is poor quality
Nice video! Is there any rule in humbucker pole positioning? For examle booth pickups north pole towards the neck, or similar?! If not, the active pole can be moved inside or outside just by turning the pickup upside down?!
Every time hearing Bill Lawrence pickups is like the first time.
BRAVOOOO ! GOOD JOB !
this was great- i wish i had watched it a few years ago before i spent days fumble fucking around with a pair of old buckers
Awesome. Exactly what I needed to troubleshoot my botched conversion attempt. Thanks!
@phostenix Can you please update the link to see the whole wiring system to achieve this half out of phase ??? does links are down, please
I thank G-d for You
Good video. When I’m running an existing steel screw back into its threaded hole, I gently rotate the screw counter clockwise until the beginning of the screw threads mates with the threads in the hole. There is a moment when it drops into the threads and makes a click sound, you can feel it as well. Then of course start the screw clockwise. Works every time. And works on just about anything that is threaded.
👍👍👍! Thanks!
My nylon coupler on the tele switch got stuck down inside it when I tried installing, I guess I pushed too hard but when I pushed down it did not function as push push, it just stayed down and would not pop up. I took off the knob using the set screw and pulled it off but the nylon coupler stayed down there lol! Any help would be appreciated. Ordering box pens now. But still need to get the old one out and figure out why this happened. I don’t thinking taking the board off will give me access to remove it. I may need to melt it ? I dont know but nice vids you are a guru. Oh never mind I just finished watching the rest of the vid lol I will take it apart
Thanks for the great video 👍
I have changed my Pup's a few times, i usually pay someone to do it but during the Covid restrictions, like many other folk, i found i had time on my hands. I bought a flat Pack TV cabinet from a mail order company called Very. It was a solid Mango wood unit. Anyway i made myself a Super Strat, HSH. I wanted to split the Humbuckers and was flagging in confidence until your video spurred me on. So thank you for uploading this over a decade ago. The Strat i made is a good Guitar, even better than i expected. I would recommend going down the flat pack route for Guitar Timber, it proved sustantily less expensive than buying it from my local Timber yard.
Thank you!
