    • @Planatification
      @Planatification Год назад

      You're probably doing it wrong. Don't tell them you need sponsorship (because you don't). You just need to apply as IF you were living in the US, and when you have the phone interview, explain to them that you will require a TN visa (which is not their responsibility, make sure they understand this, and that it is very simple to obtain once they give you the detailed job offer letter). Then, if they understand that, get the job offer letter written EXACTLY as required (they have to outline your duties as close as possible to the TN job description requirements), and then go to the border with your documents and ask the border agent to get a TN visa interview. After that, you will either get it or you won't.

This is the website for civil engineering from the OOH: www.bls.gov/ooh/architecture-and-engineering/civil-engineers.htm#tab-2. It may be a good starting point to see what they're looking for. @@diegoguimet3956 I believe that might be considered a fraudulent answer. To be able to answer "yes" my understanding is that you need an Employment Authorization Document (EAD), also known as a Work Authorization. An EAD allows you to work in the US regardless of the employer. If you do not have an EAD, then you are applying to jobs in the US with the hopes that your employer will apply for a TN1 visa on your behalf. The TN1 authorizes you to work in the US but only for that one specific employer. So the answer should be "No." I could be wrong, but that's what I've managed to dig up.

My understanding was that the individual is the one applying for the TN, not the employer, just because the employer provides the offer letter, job description, and company description, and the applicant puts it together and submits all the docs. I personally didn't have to do get an EAD though. I think it's definitely a safer way to go by selecting No though, and having the discussion with the employer as you move through the interview process.
