I'm not sure what is confusing. "The Strongest" winning has not happened since Elevate. Even then Politics were involved. The Season winner is a meme in this game full stop. Politics, sabotage and Whaling along with some RMT is what dictates who is dubbed the season winner before the season even starts. There have been so many guilds with much more drive and talent that given an actual chance to not be mobbed on by hand holding and coalitions, would have won. That does not happen here. Enjoy the game and carve your own path as best you can. Fighting for terries is a super niche part of the game controlled by politics which ruins it for 95% of the player base. There is a reason why over half of the players have no interest in setting foot in the black zone. The rest that do only a fraction of them care to make an effort to stake their claim due to the aforementioned. Would love to see the day that fighting for territories is actually possible for more than a day or 2 unless you pay rent or have connections.
