First glider training flight, Using the rudder and aileron together
Great to see that at the begining without enough rudder the glider was sliding (wool string going outward) 🙂
Twin2?
Lovely instructing style, you could see P2 getting better during the flight
Was doing this at weekend !!! Hinton in the hedges ...s turns and practice makes perfect ..love it ..also the bestest teacher ever mr p stratten ...the very best ...all concerned should Know who he is .... 😊😮😊...and the best landing ever ..
These series of videos are SO GOOD ..more than thank you ..a great help, and to the finesse of flying ...
Thank you ...doing this at Hinton in the hedges ....banbury gliding club now ...this very helpfull ... thank you again ...oh loving it ... me on ...4th flight and 5 th flight ..so on it here .. excellant ..
Subscribed ..thank you ...2 lesson done , this helps a lot , hinton in the hedges , great stuff here ... 😊
Thank you for the channel! What is the location of this airport? I would like to try it on X-Plane)
HASSLE checks !!!
Fantastic training video and easily understood through an expert commentary. Great instructing
Envious of the landout options. In the northeast US, all we have is trees.
Thank you for putting out your lessons. Btw how did you mount gopro on your forehead?
Bumpy landing, not ok, video ok! Certainly, very good instructor, love and greetings from Holland.
What a nice training! What a nice intructor! 100% english polite core!
Lucky to have plenty of height
Is this Nympsfield?
Looks very much like it. Happy memories.
yes
Ok?
Just a small tip on the all out you need some left rudder to prevent the nose veering to the right. This is called weather yawing (diffrent name for RUclips's restrictions) and you need opposite ruder to the wind direction to stop it, over than that it was good. Brings back memories. Lastly are you on your cross country endorsement yet? getting close to solo myself
so nice vedio
'we got there in the end', impatient much?
It sounds like there was a set number of things that were to be covered in this flight. As you may probably know gliders only maintain or increase altitude when the conditions are favorable. Judging by the flight time there was barely any lift anywhere so consequently they only had a very limited amount of time in the air to complete everything before they had to land. To complete a demonstration of a stall you need sufficient height (which was running out fast) before they eventually arrived at circuit height, at which they are then committed to landing. When time is of the essence, there is a delicate balance between allowing the student to execute exercises at their leisurely pace and communicating a sense of urgency to encourage a more concerted effort to achieve the tasks set out. The instructor's comments throughout were intended to get the student to act quicker, NOT to underhandedly criticize their ability as an aviator. Now obviously it would've been much better had the weather been better and been a much longer flight, then they could've slowed things down and made more progress on trimming but time didn't allow for that. They just had to work with what they had. Now in the student's defense, rushing the exercise can easily cause the instructor to miss small things that were affecting the student's ability to trim accurately. For eg. on the first attempt to trim the student had the correct speed (50knots) held with the stick but once he started adjusting the trim lever to hold that speed he accidentally let the speed drop because he probably didn't realize he was allowing the center stick to move. On the second attempt, I can tell the student was trying to set the trim lever by "Guessing" the position of the trim lever rather than slowly progressing the lever until it unloaded the center stick. (The lever seems very sticky so that doesn't help his feel at all) On the third attempt, the student should've first reset to the correct speed with the center stick first like the other times and then trimmed, but instead, he tried to guess the correct trim lever position again which is equivalent to shooting in the dark blindfolded. Time pressure would've been an influencing factor in this. The fourth attempt may have been successful because the instructor gave the student a different form of reference to work from which was the distance between the dash and the horizon. I know it's hard for younger people especially when under some load, but being more vocal and bouncing questions or observations back to the instructor when something you've done didn't work, or unexpected comes up, it really helps the instructor in his analysis of the situation and will help troubleshoot situations much more precisely and quickly. Everyone should've taken away lessons from this. That's what they're there for, to learn.
@@DosExavier88 And when the instructor was not stressing about the height, he was able to give the student a chance to fly the approach and I think the reason he took over at the end is the attitude and picture is very diffrent from the back seat so they looked lower than they were hense the comment " you cant see the ground properly"
Yes ..this to come to me very soon!!!! Ha ha you did not see the ground properly !!! Ha ha ..oh love it ..well said ha ha ..😊😊😊
where is this club located?
Well done, was maybe your first landing, isn't it? Would be happy to see more videos from your glider training lessons and how you do it
OK? Lol! Good Video Mate!
Anyone know where this area is? Looks fantastic for soaring
It's Bristol & Gloucestershire Gliding Club. That's quite a hill. I wonder how many times students forgot they will need this extra height to get back. I certainly would...

*Such a great video!*
My mans using the sun as a reference point.....lol
He's using the lift band on the windward side of the ridge. The sun just happens to be in the direction the wind is coming from.
O.k. let's move the sun then , for this flight and time of day ..easy peasy !!
Are yu still flying?
- Ok?. - Ok.
Great instructor and what a great place to soar! That ridge lift is awesome.
Experienced, polite and professional instructor!
Well done. I am sure by now you are a proficient glider pilot !
Instructor's comments are really interesting. Thank you for publishing this video!:-)
ok-ok-ok-ok-ok-ok

gotta make sure they are paying attention hahaha
Did you fly with a parachute during training?
yes always
Still flying?
Yep. I suppose I should make some more videos
@@rjwflying How about now?
Oh to have a ridge over which to learn to glide - you were able to maintain 700 feet for almost as long as you wanted.
Thank you for those videos, they are helpful for those who begin
exciting!! It was great to see you in the glider and the shadow below as you were landing!
well done!
well done, you seem to stav stayed pretty clam despite the cable snapping!
You are learning very quickly, well done, wonderful you can stay so clam!
I mean calm!
Good teacher too.
hey, that was impressive, and what a beautiful day for it too, well done!

Great start to this adventure...happy flying
Thanks for the comment!
