For sure, it's crazy that the same card can get a different grade based on the mood of your grader and whether he got into a fight with his wife in the morning. Or a different grader that misses the spec of surface damage. Or the blatant examples of high grades corner issues. Or that 60-40 centering was acceptable at one point, but 55-45 is becoming a new standard all of a sudden. And so on. There are a lot of valid point against the whole basis of grading, but alas it is part of the hobby. I believe the Giratina is 10 all around, with 60-40 centering that could go either way. Gimme that damn 10!

Personally (this is Jan aka Yawn), I believe the unique system Altered has is one of the things that makes this game so...well unique, interesting, and revolutionary. Yes I agree that as a more casual player, it can be frustrating to find a unique that is 'good' let alone fits the deck you want to play. However I'm optimistic that the launch of the marketplace will work to close the gap on this challenge. Ultimately it will always be difficult to find that 'perfect' unique, whether that's good or bad is debatable. I like the huge variability in the possibilities, which makes all decks different - this can be quite drastic too if building around a specific ability on uniques. In a way it could ensure that things won't ever too stale. There are plenty of 'average' unique out there that will be accessible while still adding value and fun to your deck. One last thing that I will say, I do think and I'm sure Equinox will hear similar feedback, there should be some sort of floor on how 'bad' a unique can be, though it can be tough to know what that means exactly as it's not black or white. I'm curious for context, are you also playing arena on BGA or trying to climb in ELO? Or more for fun / playing with your son.

@@topshelfco Thanks for the quick reply. I just checked BGA and I have played over 200 games of Altered. However my last game with an opponent other than my son was 50 days ago. I never checked Arena because, in general, I am not a very good player. It was easy to qualify with ELO greater than 100 in the early days when I had opened four KS displays and many folks were still playing with starter decks that they had augmented with a handful of boosters. My ELO is about 125. The nature of randomness in Altered allowed me to occasionally beat player with ELO in the 200s. I enjoy most the exploration of this TCG of the future. I applied for the beta test of the Marketplace and POD. More than thirty years ago I wandered into a shop that specialized in selling baseball cards. The owner convinced me to buy this new game called MTG to introduce to my ten year old son.

Thanks for the feedback! Something came up and the editing had to be done in a hospital. The turnaround normally would have been much faster, we’ll try to push it out on schedule going forward!

For context on your edit regarding the AMA, we filmed this before it happened, so we were going off the info we had available and heard going around. We won't always have ALL the most current details, but we will of course strive to stay as current as possible! Our goal for this video was to check out the info shared in the Trial by Frost Preview on the official Altered website news section, and share our thoughts and perspective. Might have been a bit off with some speculation, though it sounds like Equinox themselves don't have a lot of the details for future sets fully decided - and I don't think we expect them too this early. We also rely on our and the Altered community as a whole, to support each other and bring all the different pieces of info together. Thanks for checking in, we do appreciate the engagement and feedback.

@@topshelfco fair, I get that such slips in editing timeline can happen (hopefully nothing too serious). But for the timing of the shoot I still have to wonder: Why shoot the video a whole 2 days after the announcement when you know there is an AMA coming up the day after? Of course I can't know your timeline but wouldn't it make more sense to either cover each news but separately (not your podcast focus I assume) or consolidate the Spiel news into one video (which might have fit better)? Really just trying to help improve the relevancy for you guys, I hope it works out better in the future 🤗

It's worth noting that we are not full time 'youtubers' or content creators, we're mainly juggling running our business with many projects on the go including all TCGs, other hobbies & initiatives, across both of our instore and online experiences. This is not meant to be an excuse, but just provide a bit of insight that getting a video out on the latest Altered news, as much as we'd love will not always be possible. Though we are definitely striving to put out high quality and relevant content, so again we appreciate the feedback because at the end of the day you're the one consuming it and don't really care about what happens behind the scenes. Altered is easily our favorite TCG right now and we decided to commit a lot of resources to it. For what it's worth, the podcast is not meant to strictly be a 'what's the latest breaking news' but more so included in a mix of giving us the flexibility to discuss a wide variety of topics that we think are interesting and that hopefully the community will as well.

@@topshelfco the recent livestream on the official channel stated that they know what is in set 2 and 3, but they are currently developing set 4, so many things are up in the air such as new heroes and maybe even the return of golden boosters.

@@ulysses2134 Just checked it out! For sure they have to plan many sets ahead, but it doesn't sound like they themselves know when new heroes will be introduced. I just heard set 6 in a few places but that could be totally wrong. I would think there needs to a good amount of time for the foundation of the game to develop, so that those types of major decisions can be properly made. Which is why set 6 kind of seems like a reasonable timeline in that sense, if they are working on final touches for set 4 now. I also feel like that type of info from the AMA needs to be communicated better, and not just on a random video that doesn't have much visibility from Equinox to their player base. Do they push those Q&A out somewhere for easy reference?

@@4ndreas386 What I meant is communicating the actual content of the AMA to be accessible in a form other than the video itself, which has 900 views. I know the community is still fairly small and growing, but other content creators are getting more views than this, so it shows that much of the community won't see/watch the AMAs to get that info. For example their news section like the Angers Tournament review is a great piece of content, in a very visible and accessible channel (their main/official news page), so it would be nice to see Q&As summarized in a similar way.

As a Yzmir Control player, Sabotage is probably my favorite effect, with discarding a card from opponents hand being a close second (Baku), although not featured in the starter deck.
