Andover City Council Resident's Forum 11-19-2024
11-19-2024 I spoke at the City of Andover's Resident Forum to advocate for recovery and mental health stigma reduction. It's one small step towards empowering our communities recognizing all of us can help when we overcome the labels that we use to dehumanize and cause harm to one another.
Trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE's), Event History, Abuse, Lack of social and caregiver support, and conditions that are beyond our control which don't facilitate unconditional love and acceptance are some of the ways humans learn that unhealthy coping mechanisms can serve a purpose.
Alcohol and drug use/misuse are cries for help and society focuses instead on accountability, shame, and punish...

This is the first song I've written with lyrics, and the first song I've sang. I wrote this for the one who helped me the most. I hope they hear it someday. I recorded 4 tracks: the left, the right, a center channel bass, all using my 8 string guitar, and center vocals.
