@@cnotwell he is definitely. Sometimes I think he is going to try and pick her up and carry her off! But I figured she can always just run away, but she doesn’t. 🤣
Thanks, good idea!

I've been trying to catch my first walleye. Tried last week, but no luck. I did manage to catch some hybrid striped bass, largemouth, and crappie. A couple of hybrid bluegill too. Still on the hunt for a walleye though.
@@redneckmini14 join the crowd. That is the only one I caught. Tried to fish for some tonight. No luck. I can’t remember the last time I caught a striper.
The boneless spare ribs at the chinese joint are definitely cat. I always get a large
Wow I wonder what spices they use
You need a net. lol
lol, I have one sitting on the floor in front of the boat! I just never use it!😂
Have you caught any walleye or hybrid striped bass lately? I've caught quite a few of the hybrid striped bass that I stocked but no walleye yet.
I have not caught any for awhile. July 18 was the last time I caught a Walleye. Striper I cannot remember! Glad you are catching some! Any size?
@@ShadyOaksFarm no, they were just stocked in either April or May. They are starting to grow, but the biggest are only like 8 inches. I've been pulling out all kinds of crappie to reduce the competition. I think it is helping.
They will eat the small crappie.
@ShadyOaksFarm yeah that's the ultimate goal. The crappie I'm removing right now are all about the same size as the hybrid stripers. I've removed at least 90 so far.
aerator, beneficial bacteria, barley tabs, possibly phosphorus binder, if needed herbicide.
Added phosphorus binder few months ago. Aeration won’t keep primrose from growing! I do use herbicide to keep unwanted weeds a bay. Thanks for watching.
Yay. Free garden mulch.
Do you use chemicals of any kind?
Thanks! Very good idea!
Why didn’t you show how it mounts to the tractor loader?!?!
Yeah would have been a good idea! It mounts with the tractor pallet forks. They slide into a 2x4 channel at the back of the rake then I ratchet down with chain rachets.
What model boat do you have? My parents want a boat with high seats like that so they don't have to get all the way down in the jon boats we have.
Sun Dolphin 10ft. Older model. They have changed the design now. You can still find used ones. Look and new and old and then decide.
My set up is a Chinese mower on a Massey 1742. Personally I wouldn't want to trust a Quick Hitch as they don't have positive attachment. Lots of stress on the pins when it's extended.
Yeah, you cannot use one on the offset flail because how the mounting is built on the flail! It’s not that hard to hook up anyways.
Those nice wire cutters could split wire cloth in two for 20’ by 2’ high
what is the size of your frame? 4" x 4" ?
These are the ones I use. a.co/d/iYNTGTh
We have been working on cutting trails on our property as well. It is definitely a lot of work.
Yes it is! Trying to work on it while it’s still cool out! Was going to video yesterday on some of it and realized my sd card was missing in camera! 😟 Once you get it cleaned, it’s just maintaining then.
You're living my dream! Got some land, woods, pond, shop, tractor & side by side to work on it. I'd have a little farm (orchard, berries, sweet potatoes, etc.) Made some trails through the woods looks good, might be a little hunting back there as well.
Thanks, keep chasing those dreams! It took us a long time to be able to finally reach ours. If I was much younger I would probably do some of the same things you would do! 😁
So will the ducklings just follow her out of the box? How will that work. I know they will basically jump from anywhere to follow mama but didnt know how it would work with the nesting boxes. Sorry I'm a newbie😊
The mother goes out first after it’s all clear and proceeds to call them out! 😁. There is a screen like material on the inside below the hole so the babies can climb up.
Little tip on that tractor, you can hold one of the breaks (should be two in all of the tractors ive been on) & lock one of the tires and basically make a complete circle. Will greatly speed up going around poles, trees, etc.
Will have to try that. Wonder if it tears up the ground though?
@@ShadyOaksFarm if the ground is wet & you mash it in & actually do a complete circe... haha it def will. But what I meant is you can angle your mower, and then touch one break, let off, touch break, let off, etc so that you make a complete circle around the tree without ever having to stop & back up. By locking that wheel in place, lets say it's the right wheel because we're turning around a tree to the right, you will throw your mower to the left while your frontend comes to the right. Let off break drive up a little more, do it again. You will never hit the tree but mow all the way around it
how are the crappie lookin
Found your channel searching for how to maintain crappie in smaller ponds. Gonna look through your channel & see if you have any updates since this was 3 years ago. I wanna build a 3acre ish pond and specifically use it for crappie. IDC about any of the other fish, I just wanna be able to go out & catch slabs year around.
There are some fishing ones out there. We just got internet so I hope to do more videos now. Was impossible to upload before. Thanks for joining. Also, you should check out link below. Some great knowledge in the group. facebook.com/share/ggrTNhBrPrd2r43n/?mibextid=K35XfP
You will need to add a predator to an all crappie pond. Otherwise you will get stunted crappie eventually.
@@ShadyOaksFarm fast reply, got a sub from me haha, good luck
Use smaller hooks and switch to bread hot dogs or corn. You will catch fish all day long. Those fish probably to small for the bass hooks your using. Love the pond I have one myself.
Thanks for the tips! They have grown a lot since this video! 😀
What frame did you use? I think I found the right trap at Cabela’s, Bridger body gripper trap #110…. Love your videos by the way!
a.co/d/j1eSxZa Thanks for watching. Someday I can do more once we get internet! Stabilizer/frame makes a big difference.
Damn that was a monster rat
Crappie, carp , and bullheads ruin farm ponds.
Don’t have bullheads or carp.
You and I, are of similar age. I too, haven’t owned a tractor for 35-yrs. Thanks for sharing
Maybe I missed it, but how long is this?
12 feet
Always back roll new dry wall or you will be in deep dodo next time u paint
Yup, so many do not back roll. Helps push it in and adhere better. Just like some don’t prime and count on paint with primer to do the same.
Pretty cool idea
Thanks, it works great when needed.
I recently did a catch and cook video on my other channel at my girlfriend's pond. Made some pretty good grilled bass. Also have good news about our lake. We finally caught some surviving catfish. So far we have caught 10 little guys all about 9 or 10 inches long. Still haven't caught any of the newly stocked redear or yellow perch though.
Yeah, we plan on trying grilled bass sometime. Whether gas or charcoal. Sounds good! I will have to check your video out. Great to hear about your pond coming back!!
@@ShadyOaksFarm This is my other channel if you are interested.
good job
Thanks, it’s always fun!
@@ShadyOaksFarm ur welcome god bless u
That’s a sweet setup. My dads pond is overgrown along the shore real bad. That stuff really gets heavy when it intertwines itself. May try and come up with an attachment for his dozer. Thanks for the upload!!
Would not be hard to retro fit something for a dozer.
Great video! What type of herbicide did you go with?
Shoreline defense. Kills roots and all. I also add a booster surfactant so it adheres better.
Should stock some more minnows!
No, I don’t need to. I have an over abundance of forage. Minnows and Shiners probably spawned to 100,000 plus the first year.
@@ShadyOaksFarm the skinny fish say otherwise
Well you do realize that adding minnows to a pond afterwards does nothing considering the pond is established now. Fish aren’t skinny! Predator fish are not even 2 1/2 years old. Started off as 2 to 3 inches. Don’t worry I will show you some pigs in the future videos!! 😁😁
@@ShadyOaksFarm 😂😂😂
If you check out Walleye growth you will see the growth rate is about 5” first year! Second year is about 8”. They were only about 2” when we stocked them. They are currently averaging about 13 to 14 inches. I would say that is a pretty good growth rate in 2 1/2 years!!😁
Glad to see the fish are doing well. I'm hoping to try to do a little more catfishing soon to see if there are any survivors in our lake after last year's fish kill. So far nothing though.
Thanks! Yeah plan to do some myself! Catfish are pretty resilient! Keep trying different baits. Let me know how it goes.
@@ShadyOaksFarm I know we pulled out at least a hundred dead ones last year. I've tried chicken livers, hot dogs, night crawlers, cut bait, haven't caught any yet, but it's just now getting to be a good temperature.
So how is your pond doing now since you stocked so much predator fish?
So far everything is going great! Water clarity improves every year. Predator fish are growing fast! Still lots of forage fish. Check out the latest fishing video! ruclips.net/video/S0NDgS1O558/видео.html
I just stocked some yellow perch, albino catfish, and golden shiners in our lake this past weekend since our massive fish kill last year. I started fishing out what large predators are still alive. Not much luck, but we did catch a few small bass and crappie. One pretty big crappie as well. I'm just hoping my perch are able to survive and do well.
Perch do very well in ponds.
@@ShadyOaksFarm I just don't want them to be all eaten up. There are a ton of bluegill, minnows, and now shiners in there, so hopefully there is enough variety of prey fish to keep the last of the predators happy.
Dude looks straight Getto
🤣
Cloud sharing.... birds arnt real
Lol, the heck there not. I can prove it. They are quite the nuisance in the Midwest.
I would have been having Blackbird in the skillet
What forage fish are in your lake?
I put in 20,000 minnows and shiners and 1000 redear and 1000 hybrid bluegill then did not add the predator fish for one year. This gave them all a chance to spawn before predators were added. We figured the minnows and shiners produced about a 100,000 the first year. With so much forage it can be tough fishing until the predators start thinning them out.
@@ShadyOaksFarm I bet. They must be well fed enough to not want to feed. Some day I hope to have a nice lake like yours.
Thanks, I have caught some 4 to 5 pounders after 6 months. Always chase your dreams. Has been ours also and we just now achieved it.
Would it be cheaper to build a house out of poured concrete or using wood? I want to make a fireproof home that is also tornado resistant and, if possible, not use any wood for it.
Well depending on where you live concrete is running over a 140.00 a yard and that does not include labor. You still have to finish the interior. Lots of homes are built out of concrete. Not what we were looking for. Probably better off building an earth home but all homes can still be damaged by a tornado as long as you have windows and doors. I built it to protect ourselves not property.
K dice chingmadreque me estam hacienda?????
Funny
You know I bought myself a turkey gun several years ago. One of these days I will actually get around to actually using it. Still have yet to give turkey hunting a try.
It was lots of fun on the nicer day. 😁 I just wish the results would have been different. You need to try it for sure. I suck at calling but maybe I will improve. 😁
Carefully mowing it up you don't shoot back in the water it could come back worse then ever invasive weeds are horable in east coast new England in massachusets cape cod road island area we have green briers brought over for defence walls and now any where you don't mow and it grows you can't even walk threw in less you have chainsaw its invasive vine that is nateral razor wire you can't walk threw if you had to
Yeah so far so good. I had a little come back this year but was able to spot treat only to keep under control.
If you use 3pt hitch yourk rake teath they won't bend but it seems to work great any way if you hade it on 3pt hook it will float better I adapted yourk rake for skid steer and in 1 hour all teath where all busted because it's ment to float and not hold weight of tractor
