Last I heard Halo 2 had a ton of graphical inconsistencies with the original as well. A lot of it is sort of nitpicking but for a collection purporting to be a celebration of Halo's legacy it's a real shame.

Even though it'd be better if none of these issues existed, the simple fact that we have every single Halo game in one easily accessible place, ported to PC with completely uncapped framerates in 4k and having it be supported enough to even full mod support is honestly incredible. I think all of that is worth the trade off of having a few small graphical issues here or there that can easily be fixed by the players if they really felt like it.

"The explosion is missing it's glow!" oh no... it's realistic. 😢 Gasoline explosions in films and games are *fake as fuck.* Real explosions are basically debris, some of the ground, with a minor amount of flame plumed inside the outer debris. Making it very dull. That explosion is not large enough to constitute the large amount of light. Remember it's not the explosions that kill. It's the shrapnel. Or the shockwave, but that is a much less common thing. Unless you're in water with an explosion.

Also certain unlockable armor pieces are missing certain features, such as the commando chest missing it's bum bag.

All the bloom, ambient occlussion and contact shadows are mainly resolution related problems. All the post processing was designed for a sub 720p resolution (1152x720), so when you run the game at any resolution higher than that, the effects start to become way less noticeable, and basically dissappearing at 4k. If its that much of a problem, you can play at a lower resolution

I wasn’t fully aware of the extent of the darkening issue. Was that introduced when they added bloom into the game? I feel like I remember the game being brighter and easier to see before that update, but that may just be my dislike of heavy bloom coloring my memories.

gonna be honest, 90% of the shit you showed is almost meaningless. there are a couple that do actually very much matter like the projectiles, but for fuck's sake how do people look at this and actually think MCC is somehow bad yall wanna see a bad port? yall are welcome to browse the sonic library of shitty unoptimized ports with graphical issues that change the entire style of the game MCC is actually insanely good, the most major difference is *some* effects not scaling with resolution.
