I am 100% with you on investing 500/mo into the stock market - LOVE it, but spending 1700/mo on rent is going to make you a lazy and foolish money manager after about 3 years. Even considering maintenance. But you're right, bad advice, spend 61k in 3 years on rent and live "stress free".

Realtors & Car salesman are in the same bucket. Purchase a home is a luxury thay won't make you rich. Buy a home only if you want stability. If you want to be rich rent & invest the rest. If your not discipline to set up automatic investment then sure throw your money away and purchase a home but at least be smart and wait for these home prices to tumble. Buy now and your a sucker. Realtor is have a warped perception and will always tell you it's a great time to buy regardless of market trends. Once a salesman always a salesman hustle for that commission while spreading bad advice 👍

​@Austin612Realtor do your thing, sell sell sell make your commission $$$ I don't hate the game but please just stop spreading misinformation trying to frame buying a home as being some sort of good investment product. Be honest with people, do people right and sell homes for what they truly are, luxury comfort item to provide stability 👍

@ I agree with you it’s a great place to be a young professional and starting your home ownership journey. I’d argue it’s probably top of list. But imo it’s a place that does not have a strong public school presence. Benilde is a great private school. You’ve got Blake and Breck nearby. You’ve got probably open enrollment to Edina. But SLP high school for whatever reason doesn’t compare to its peers

@ grew up in northeast and hanging out on the north side for 20+ years. I was raised by those streets man. And I can tell you first hand it is the farthest thing from a safe place for people to start and build a life and family. My son was admitted for chemotherapy at Minneapolis children’s hospital and the hospital got hit by 3 stray rifle rounds. Yet you go around spreading misinformation about how safe it is to live in Minneapolis. Trash. It only makes you look bad to anyone who knows anything. Or to people who are smart enough to do a little digging.
