Yep. I hate everyone here. Don't demand rent for a house you don't own. (Joe knew he didn't own it.) Don't charge people like this over spite. Even if he wanted to charge rent there are better/more polite ways to do it. Don't divide the family be enabling the increasingly absurd demands. The mother thought this was ok?

OP WOULD be the AH if he dumped her and her stuff unceremoniously on the street, although that may be where he thinks she belongs... without consulting a lawyer first. Legally, she MAY have a claim to residency, but if she doesn't pay any of the bills, that may not be an issue after all. You do not need to stay in this relationship no matter what caused her to snap. She physically attacked you, she called the police and said you assaulted your own daughter. If you feel divorce is the best option and have mentally checked out, it IS the best option.

The only good reason I can think of that your parents favor your brother is that Tom has a learning disability or some other kind of physical disability. You didn't mention this in your video, so I assume he doesn't. In which case, it is you who might think about not talking to your parents and let them stew on that for awhile.

Tom has his parents support. He has grandpas. the right thing would be keeping it and helping them when they retire and have nothing cause of the brother. actually. not give it to this brother.

Of course they had a place to go. They could always just go back home.
