It was the last Saturday before Christmas, and Maastricht was bustling with people shopping and meandering in and out of the Christmas market on the Vrijthof. The streets were decorated and lighted and everywhere you looked there was something good to eat. Gezellig!

This morning when opening the back sliding doors, the shell of a snail dropped off the glass onto the ground. The shell wasn't hallow, so I picked it up, placed it on a wet surface, and watched this slimy creature (very slowly) come to life and go about its daily business.

It is no secret that I like to ride my bike, and in the Netherlands it is the #1 mode of transportation. There are bike lanes or separate bike roads running parallel to almost all roads, and at any time I can get on my bike and easily go anywhere. There is also always another biker or walker no matter where I go.

Today I drove to Marl, Germany which is the hometown of my friend Jens. I know his wife Mira from our rip-roarin' 20s/30s when we both lived in NY. Mira and Jens now live in Maine and they traveled along with their three girls to his parent's which happens to be 1.5 hours drive from me. It has been blazes the last few days and a tad on the humid side, but today instead of cooking until the sun went down, we were surprised with an afternoon of rain and thunder.

A dark ominous mass overtook the skies at a visibly aggressive rate, and before too long there was the wind, rain, thunder and lightening all around from a massive thunderstorm. Intimidating power juxtaposed with much-needed rain.

Yuna, now calling LA home, played a special gig at the famous Troubadour in West Hollywood. She started the set with Falling which also opens her second album.

Decorate is almost the perfect song. Beautifuly sung lyrics married to the right melody and music. It is even better live than recorded.
